SSVP Mount Rosary Celebrates Patron Feast with Gratitude and Renewed Commitment.
A simple celebration honouring a year of selfless service to the poor and needy
The Society of St Vincent de Paul (SSVP), Mount Rosary Church, Santhekatte–Kallianpur, celebrated its Patron’s Feast with faith, fellowship and gratitude, reaffirming its commitment to serving the poor, needy and vulnerable in the parish community.
On Sunday 27th September 2026, the celebration began with a Festal Holy Mass at 8.00 am, celebrated by Rev. Fr Melwyn Mendonca, s j., Principal of Milagres PU College, Kallianpur. In his homily, Fr Melwyn appreciated the yeomen service rendered by the Society of St Vincent de Paul, across the world and particularly acknowledged the dedicated ministry of the SSVP members in Kallianpur.
The liturgy was led by the SSVP members with devotion.
Parish Priest Rev. Dr Roque D’Souza conveyed his warm Festal Greetings and expressed appreciation for the Society’s year-round service at Mount Rosary Church.
He particularly commended the members for identifying and reaching out to deserving poor and needy families in the parish, often through quiet and personal acts of compassion.
Following the Holy Mass, the members and guests gathered at the adjacent Mini Hall for a fellowship programme and sumptuous breakfast.
The short stage programme commenced with a prayer service led by Ms Pramila Mascarenhas.
Mr Victor Crasta, President of SSVP Mount Rosary, extended a warm and cordial welcome to the guests, members, ward Gurkars, representatives of parish organisations, well-wishers and donors.
Ms Daisy Mendonca, Secretary, presented a crisp report of the Society’s activities for the year ending 31 August 2026, highlighting the various charitable and pastoral initiatives undertaken during the year.
Mr Sunil Lewis, Treasurer, presented the Unit’s Receipts and Payments Account, reflecting the Society’s financial activities and stewardship.
Mr Baptist Dias, Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council, congratulated the SVP members on their Patron’s Feast and assured them of the parish’s continued cooperation and support. He appreciated the members for carrying out their manifold activities without seeking publicity, recognition or fame, making their service a genuine expression of Christian charity.
Mr Vincent Quadros, President of the Area Council/Deanery SSVP, shared his reflections and called upon the Society to make concerted efforts to involve more young people in its activities so that the noble tradition of Vincentian service can continue with renewed energy in the years ahead.
Greetings were also conveyed by Mr Vincent Lewis, a proud Rosarian Parishioner, presently President of the Udupi Diocesan SVP; Mr Valerian Fernandes, Convenor of the 20 Pastoral Commissions; and Sr Melani, representing the SRA Sisters.
Their presence and their apt messages added warmth and encouragement to the celebration.
The stage programme was beautifully compered by Mr Royston Quadros, while the vote of thanks was proposed by Mr Vincent Quadros expressing gratitude to the clergy, guests, members, donors and all those who support the Society’s mission as the program concluded with soulful SSVP hymn.
The celebration remained simple yet deeply meaningful, bringing together SSVP members, Ward Gurkars, presidents and representatives of various pious organisations of the parish, well-wishers and generous donors.
The Feast served as a fitting reminder that true charity does not seek applause—it quietly notices a need, reaches out with compassion and restores dignity to those who are struggling. The SSVP Mount Rosary community continues to live this spirit through its dedicated service, keeping alive the legacy of SSVP – Society of St Vincent de Paul: faith expressed through love and love expressed through action.
