Farewell to Panaji Ramdas Government Kannada School Headmistress Sumangala Malgi
ಪಣಜಿಯ ರಾಮದಾಸ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಸರ್ಕಾರಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮ ಪ್ರಾಥಮಿಕ ಶಾಲೆಯ ಮುಖ್ಯೋಪಾಧ್ಯಾಯಿನಿ ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಸುಮಂಗಲಾ ಮಲ್ಗಿ ಅವರ ಗೌರವಾರ್ಥವಾಗಿ, ‘ಫ್ರೆಂಡ್ಸ್ ಆಫ್ 3ಎಲ್’ (Friends of 3L) ವತಿಯಿಂದ ಅಕ್ಟೋಬರ್ 24 ರಂದು ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ 11 ಗಂಟೆಗೆ ಒಂದು ಸಣ್ಣ ಬೀಳ್ಕೊಡುಗೆ ಸಮಾರಂಭವನ್ನು ಆಯೋಜಿಸಲಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಅವರು ಅಕ್ಟೋಬರ್ 31, 2026 ರಂದು ಸೇವೆಯಿಂದ ನಿವೃತ್ತರಾಗಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಶಾಲು ಹೊದಿಸಿ, ಆರ್ಕಿಡ್ ಸಸ್ಯದ ಕುಂಡ, (ಶ್ರೀ ಡೆಲ್ಫಿಮ್ ಗ್ರಾಶಿಯಾಸ್ ಅವರು ಸಿದ್ಧಪಡಿಸಿದ) ಪೋಸ್ಟರ್ ಮತ್ತು ಉಡುಗೊರೆಯನ್ನು ನೀಡಿ ಗೌರವಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಲಾಟರಿ ಮೂಲಕ ಆಯ್ಕೆ ಮಾಡಿದ ಐವರು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಸುಮಂಗಲಾ ಅವರು ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ಸಾಮಗ್ರಿಗಳನ್ನು (ಸ್ಟೇಷನರಿ) ವಿತರಿಸಿದರು. ಅಲ್ಲದೆ, ಎಲ್ಲಾ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ ವರ್ಗದವರಿಗೆ ಬಿಸ್ಕತ್ತು ಪ್ಯಾಕೆಟ್‌ಗಳನ್ನು ನೀಡಲಾಯಿತು.
ಅವರು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಬೆಳಗಾವಿ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಅಥಣಿ ತಾಲೂಕಿನ ಕಾಗವಾಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಜನಿಸಿದರು. ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ನಿಪ್ಪಾಣಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರೌಢಶಾಲಾ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣವನ್ನು ಪೂರೈಸಿದ ನಂತರ, ಅವರು ಬೆಳಗಾವಿಯ ‘ಬೆನ್ನಾನ್ ಸ್ಮಿತ್ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರ ತರಬೇತಿ ಶಾಲೆ’ಯಲ್ಲಿ (Beynon Smith Teachers’ Training School) ಟಿ.ಸಿ.ಎಚ್. (TCH) ತರಬೇತಿಯನ್ನು ಪಡೆದರು. 1987 ರಿಂದ 1992 ರವರೆಗೆ ಅವರು ಗೋವಾದ ವಾಸ್ಕೋದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಜುವಾರಿ ನಗರದ ಸರ್ಕಾರಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮ ಪ್ರಾಥಮಿಕ ಶಾಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕಿಯಾಗಿ ಸೇವೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದರು. 1992 ರಿಂದ 2018 ರವರೆಗೆ ಅವರು ಪಣಜಿಯ ರಾಮದಾಸ್ ಸರ್ಕಾರಿ ಪ್ರಾಥಮಿಕ ಶಾಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕಿಯಾಗಿ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಿದರು. 2018 ರಿಂದ ಅಕ್ಟೋಬರ್ 31, 2026 ರವರೆಗೆ ಅವರು ಅದೇ ಶಾಲೆಯ ಮುಖ್ಯೋಪಾಧ್ಯಾಯಿನಿಯಾಗಿ ಸೇವೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅವರು ಕೇವಲ ಒಬ್ಬ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕಿಯಾಗಿ ಮಾತ್ರ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಲಿಲ್ಲ; ತಮ್ಮ ವೃತ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಒಂದು ಧ್ಯೇಯವಾಗಿ ಮತ್ತು ಜೀವನದ ಉದ್ದೇಶವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರೀತಿಸಿದರು. ಅವರು ಅಪಾರ ಸಮರ್ಪಣಾ ಭಾವ, ಪ್ರಾಮಾಣಿಕತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರೀತಿಯಿಂದ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಸೇವೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದರು ಹಾಗೂ ತಮ್ಮ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಅಗತ್ಯಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆಯೂ ಕಾಳಜಿ ವಹಿಸಿದರು.
ನಿವೃತ್ತಿಯ ನಂತರ, ಗೋವಾದ ತಲೇಗಾಂವ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ತಮ್ಮ ನಿವಾಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಡ ಪ್ರಾಥಮಿಕ ಶಾಲಾ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಉಚಿತವಾಗಿ ಪಾಠ ಹೇಳಿಕೊಡುವ ಕನಸನ್ನು ಅವರು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅವರಿಗೆ ಕನ್ನಡ, ಮರಾಠಿ, ಕೊಂಕಣಿ, ಹಿಂದಿ ಮತ್ತು ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್ ಭಾಷೆಗಳು ತಿಳಿದಿವೆ.
ತಮ್ಮ ತಾಯಿಯೇ ತಮ್ಮ ಮೊದಲ ಆದರ್ಶ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿ ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ. ನಿಪ್ಪಾಣಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರ ಪ್ರೌಢಶಾಲಾ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದ ‘ರುಥಮ್’ (Rutham) ಅವರು, ಇವರು ಶಿಕ್ಷಕಿಯಾಗಲು ಪ್ರೇರಣೆ ನೀಡಿದ್ದರು.
Farewell to Panaji Ramdas Government Kannada School Headmistress Sumangala Malgi
Friends of 3L organized a short farewell function in honour of Mrs Sumangala Malgi, the headmistress of the Government Kannada Medium Primary School, Ramdas, Panaji on 24th October at 11 am. She will retire on 31st October 2026. She was honoured with a shawl, orchid plant pot, a poster (prepared by Mr. Delfim Gracias), and a gift. By lot 5 students were chosen and Mrs Sumangala distributed stationery to them. All the students and staff were given a biscuit packet.
She was born at Kagwad, Athani Taluka of Belgavi District, Karnataka. After completing her high school studies at Nippani, Karnataka, in the Kannada medium, she did her TCH at Beynon Smith Teachers’ Training School at Belgavi. From 1987 to 1992 she served as a teacher in the Government Kannada Medium Primary School, Zuari Nagar, Vasco, Goa. From 1992 to 2018 she served as a Kannada teacher at the Government Primary School Ramdas Panaji. 2018 to 31st October 2026 she was the headmistress of the same school. She didn’t work merely as a teacher. She loved her profession as a mission and vocation. She served the students with great dedication, sincerity, and love. She cared for all the needs of her students.
After her retirement, she has a dream to teach poor primary students free of cost at her residence at Taleigao, Goa. She knows Kannada, Marathi, Konknni, Hindi and English.
She says that her mother was her first role model. Her high school teacher Rutham at Nippani influenced her to become a teacher.
