Hearts are heavy, Memories are Endless’

On March 22, 2025, based on information received from the police, the Snehalaya Rescue Team saved Pooja and her eight‑month‑old baby, Ayush, at Mangalore Central Railway Station. The mother and child were then admitted to the women’s section of Snehalaya Psycho-Social Rehabilitation Centre in Manjeshwar.

According to the information received, Pooja, a homemaker, had left her home in Bihar due to mental illness and went to Tamil Nadu in search of work. Unfortunately, she lost contact with her family and got separated from them.

However, Snehalaya brought a new turn in her life. With comprehensive mental and physical treatment, excellent care, and counseling, she was able to recover her mental health.

After her recovery, the process of family reunification began. Under the leadership of Shri Basavaraj from Shraddha Foundation, efforts were made to trace Pooja’s address, and finally, her husband and family living in faraway Bihar were located.

On September 7, Pooja’s husband, Bhupali, arrived at Snehalaya to take her home. Though it marked the happiest day in Pooja’s life, it was also an emotional day for the staff of Snehalaya. Ayush, with his innocent smile and playful charm, had won the hearts of everyone and become the beloved of the entire Snehalaya family. His mischievous glances and sweet giggles brightened every single day. The staff showered him with the love, affection, care, and warmth that a child usually receives from parents.

Though the joy of being reunited with family filled Pooja and her baby with hope and happiness, their farewell brought deep sadness to Snehalaya. Tears filled many eyes as Ayush, the little darling of all hearts, bid goodbye.

What began as a journey of despair gradually transformed into a story of courage, care, and healing. Today, as mother and child set out on their journey back home, their memories remain deeply etched in the hearts of the Snehalaya family. Though the Founder and all the staff felt heavyhearted, they wholeheartedly blessed Pooja and Ayush with hopes that their future life may shine bright like a lamp of joy.
