ಮಂಗಳೂರು: ವಿಶ್ವದಾದ್ಯಂತ ಹರಡಿರುವ ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಮಾತನಾಡುವ ಸಮುದಾಯಗಳನ್ನು ಒಂದೇ ವೇದಿಕೆಯಡಿ ಒಗ್ಗೂಡಿಸುವ ಉದ್ದೇಶದಿಂದ ‘ಕೊಂಕನಿಜ್’ (KONKANIZ) ಎಂಬ ಸಮುದಾಯ ಆಧಾರಿತ ವೇದಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಆರಂಭಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಸಮುದಾಯಗಳ ನಡುವೆ ಭಾಷೆಯ ಉಪಭಾಷೆಗಳು, ಲಿಪಿಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಭೌಗೋಳಿಕ ಗಡಿಗಳಿಂದ ಉಂಟಾಗಿರುವ ಅಂತರವನ್ನು ಕಡಿಮೆ ಮಾಡಿ, ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾದ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಬಂಧಗಳನ್ನು ಬಲಪಡಿಸುವುದು ವೇದಿಕೆಯ ಉದ್ದೇಶವಾಗಿದೆ. ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಭಾಷೆ, ಆಹಾರ, ಸಂಗೀತ, ನೃತ್ಯ, ಚಲನಚಿತ್ರ, ಕ್ರೀಡೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಪರಂಪರೆಯನ್ನು ಉತ್ತೇಜಿಸುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಸಮುದಾಯಗಳ ನಡುವೆ ಸೇತುವೆ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಲು ವೇದಿಕೆ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಲಿದೆ. ಮೆಂಡೋನ್ಸಾ ಫೌಂಡೇಶನ್ನ ಡಾ. ವಿವೇಕ್ ಮೆಂಡೋನ್ಸಾ ಅವರ ಸಕ್ರಿಯ ಬೆಂಬಲದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಈ ವೇದಿಕೆ ರೂಪುಗೊಂಡಿದೆ.
ಈ ವಿಶಾಲ ಆಶಯದ ಭಾಗವಾಗಿ, ಸಂತ ಅಲೋಶಿಯಸ್ (ಡೀಮ್ಡ್ ಟು ಬಿ ಯೂನಿವರ್ಸಿಟಿ) ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ವಿಭಾಗದ ವತಿಯಿಂದ ಅಂತಾರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಮಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಶಂಸೆ ಪಡೆದಿರುವ ‘ನಾಚೋಂ-ಯಾ ಕುಂಪಸಾರ್’ ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಚಲನಚಿತ್ರವನ್ನು ಸೆ. 18ರಂದು ಶುಕ್ರವಾರ ಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನ 3.45ಕ್ಕೆ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯ ಆವರಣದ ಎಲ್ಸಿಆರ್ಐ ಸಭಾಂಗಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಿಸಲಾಗುವುದು.
ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ವಿಭಾಗದ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥೆ ಪ್ರೊ. ಫ್ಲೋರಾ ಕ್ಯಾಸ್ಟೆಲಿನೊ ಅವರ ನೇತೃತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ, ರೆಕ್ಸ್ ಫರ್ನಾಂಡಿಸ್ ಹಾಗೂ ಚಿತ್ರದ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕ, ಲೇಖಕ ಮತ್ತು ನಿರ್ಮಾಪಕ ಬಾರ್ಡ್ರಾಯ್ ಬ್ಯಾರೆಟ್ಟೊ ಅವರ ಸಹಯೋಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಚಿತ್ರ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನ ಆಯೋಜಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.
ಗೋವಾ ಫೋಕ್ಲೋರ್ ಪ್ರೊಡಕ್ಷನ್ಸ್ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿರುವ ‘ನಾಚೋಂ-ಯಾ ಕುಂಪಸಾರ್’ ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಚಿತ್ರರಂಗದ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಮೆಚ್ಚುಗೆ ಪಡೆದ ಚಿತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದಾಗಿದೆ. ಚಿತ್ರವು 24 ಅಂತಾರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಗೌರವಗಳು, ಮೂರು ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ 10 ಗೋವಾ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಪಡೆದಿದೆ. ಲಂಡನ್ ಇಂಡಿಯನ್ ಫಿಲ್ಮ್ ಫೆಸ್ಟಿವಲ್ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ವಿಶ್ವದ ಹಲವು ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಿತ ಚಲನಚಿತ್ರೋತ್ಸವಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಚಿತ್ರ ಗಮನ ಸೆಳೆದಿದೆ.
1960 ಮತ್ತು 1970ರ ದಶಕದ ಗೋವಾದ ರೋಮಾಂಚಕ ಸಂಗೀತ ಲೋಕವನ್ನು ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯಾಗಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡಿರುವ ಚಿತ್ರವು ಅಲ್ಲಿನ ಖ್ಯಾತ ಸಂಗೀತಗಾರರ ಬದುಕು ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಗೀತದಿಂದ ಪ್ರೇರಣೆ ಪಡೆದಿದೆ. ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಹಾಡುಗಳು, ಪರಿಣಾಮಕಾರಿ ಅಭಿನಯ ಹಾಗೂ ಮನಮುಟ್ಟುವ ಕಥನದ ಮೂಲಕ ಗೋವಾ ಸಂಗೀತದ ಶ್ರೀಮಂತ ಪರಂಪರೆಯನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿಕೊಟ್ಟ ಆ ಕಾಲಘಟ್ಟದ ಸಂಗೀತಗಾರರಿಗೆ ಚಿತ್ರ ಗೌರವ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
ಗೋವಾ ಮತ್ತು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಜನರನ್ನು ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕವಾಗಿ ಮತ್ತಷ್ಟು ಹತ್ತಿರ ತರುವ ಉದ್ದೇಶವೂ ಈ ಚಿತ್ರ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನದ ಹಿಂದಿದೆ. ಎರಡು ರಾಜ್ಯಗಳು ವಿಭಿನ್ನ ಗುರುತು ಮತ್ತು ಪರಂಪರೆ ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದರೂ, ಶತಮಾನಗಳ ಹಂಚಿಕೊಂಡ ಇತಿಹಾಸ, ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಭಾಷೆ, ವಲಸೆ, ಸಂಗೀತ, ನಂಬಿಕೆ, ಆಹಾರ ಪದ್ಧತಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಕುಟುಂಬ ಸಂಬಂಧಗಳು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಬೆಸೆದಿವೆ.
ಭಾಷೆ-ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಗೆ ಸೇತುವೆ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸುವ ಶಕ್ತಿ
“ಭಾಷೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಗೆ ಜನರ ನಡುವೆ ಸೇತುವೆ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸುವ ಶಕ್ತಿಯಿದೆ. ಸಿನಿಮಾ, ನಾಟಕ, ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ, ಸಂಗೀತ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಸೃಜನಾತ್ಮಕ ಅಭಿವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ಗೋವಾ ಮತ್ತು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ನಡುವಿನ ಆಳವಾದ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಸಂಬಂಧವನ್ನು ಯುವ ಪೀಳಿಗೆ ಅರ್ಥಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಮೆಚ್ಚುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡುವುದು ನಮ್ಮ ಉದ್ದೇಶ. ‘ನಾಚೋಂ-ಯಾ ಕುಂಪಸಾರ್’ ಈ ಸಂವಾದವನ್ನು ಬಲಪಡಿಸಲು ಸೂಕ್ತ ಚಿತ್ರವಾಗಿದೆ” ಎಂದು ಪ್ರೊ. ಫ್ಲೋರಾ ಕ್ಯಾಸ್ಟೆಲಿನೊ ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
“ಈ ಚಿತ್ರ ಕೇವಲ ಮನರಂಜನೆಯಲ್ಲ. ಇದು ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಸಂಗೀತ, ಸಂಗೀತಗಾರರು ಹಾಗೂ ಇಡೀ ಒಂದು ಪೀಳಿಗೆಯ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ನೆನಪುಗಳಿಗೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸುವ ಗೌರವವಾಗಿದೆ. ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಭಾಷೆ, ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಗೆ ನಿರಂತರವಾಗಿ ಬೆಂಬಲ ನೀಡುತ್ತಿರುವ ಸಂತ ಅಲೋಶಿಯಸ್ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಚಿತ್ರ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನಗೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿರುವುದು ಸಂತಸ ತಂದಿದೆ” ಎಂದು ರೆಕ್ಸ್ ಫರ್ನಾಂಡಿಸ್ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
“ಗೋವಾ ಮತ್ತು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ವಿಭಿನ್ನ ಗುರುತುಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದರೂ ಭಾಷೆ, ಸಂಗೀತ, ಆಹಾರ, ನೆನಪುಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಮುಖ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಜನರ ಮೂಲಕ ಪರಸ್ಪರ ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ಸಾಮ್ಯ ಹೊಂದಿವೆ. ಈ ಸಂಬಂಧಗಳು ತಲೆಮಾರುಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಭೌಗೋಳಿಕ ಗಡಿಗಳನ್ನು ದಾಟಿ ಉಳಿದುಕೊಂಡಿವೆ. ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಒಗ್ಗೂಡಿಸುವ ಅಂಶಗಳನ್ನು ಪುನಃ ಕಂಡುಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಸಿನಿಮಾ ನೆರವಾಗಬಹುದು. ‘ನಾಚೋಂ-ಯಾ ಕುಂಪಸಾರ್’ ಗೋವಾದ ನೆನಪು ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಗೀತದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೇರೂರಿದ್ದರೂ, ಅದರ ಭಾವನೆಗಳು ವಿಶಾಲವಾದ ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಜಗತ್ತಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿವೆ. ಈ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನ ಗೋವಾ ಮತ್ತು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ನಡುವೆ ಇನ್ನಷ್ಟು ಚಿತ್ರಗಳು, ಸಂಗೀತ, ಸಂವಾದಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಸಹಯೋಗಗಳಿಗೆ ದಾರಿ ತೆರೆಯಲಿದೆ ಎಂಬ ವಿಶ್ವಾಸವಿದೆ” ಎಂದು ಬಾರ್ಡ್ರಾಯ್ ಬ್ಯಾರೆಟ್ಟೊ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಮುಂದಿನ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಗೋವಾ–ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ವಿನಿಮಯದ ಭಾಗವಾಗಿ ಚಲನಚಿತ್ರ, ನಾಟಕ, ರಂಗಭೂಮಿ, ಸಂಗೀತ, ನೃತ್ಯ, ಆಹಾರ ಉತ್ಸವ, ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ, ಪರಂಪರೆ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಕ್ರೀಡಾ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಆಯೋಜಿಸುವ ಆಶಯವನ್ನು ಸಂಘಟಕರು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಇಂತಹ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳು ಎರಡೂ ರಾಜ್ಯಗಳ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು, ಕಲಾವಿದರು, ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಸಂಘಟನೆಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ನಾಗರಿಕರು ಪರಸ್ಪರ ಭೇಟಿಯಾಗಿ, ಸಹಕರಿಸಿ, ತಮ್ಮ ಹಂಚಿಕೊಂಡ ಪರಂಪರೆಯನ್ನು ಸಂಭ್ರಮಿಸಲು ಉತ್ತೇಜನ ನೀಡಲಿವೆ.

COLLECTIVE PLATFORM LAUNCHED TO UNITE KONKANI COMMUNITIES
KONKANIZ, a collective platform for the Konkani speaking communities spread across the globe was launched in Mangalore today, in the presence of dignitaries from Konkani speaking communities.
The KONKANIZ community driven platform, with the active support of Dr Vivek Mendonsa of Mendonsa Foundation, seeks to unite the Konkani speaking communities on a single platform and build bridges between the people divided by dialects, scripts and geographical boundaries and strengthen the common shared bonds by promoting spoken language, cuisine, music, dance, films, sports and cultural heritage.
As a precursor to the broader vision of building bridges of lasting bonds of unity through creative expression, the Department of Konkani, St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) will screen the internationally acclaimed Konkani film Nachom-ia Kumpasar at LCRI Hall, University Campus on Friday, 18th September 2026 at 3.45 pm.
The screening is being organised under the leadership of Prof. Flora Castelino, Head of the Department of Konkani, in association with Mr Rex Fernandes, and Mr Bardroy Barretto, the film’s director, writer and producer.
Produced by Goa Folklore Productions, Nachom-ia Kumpasar is among the most celebrated films in the history of Konkani cinema. The film has received 24 international honours, 3 National Awards and 10 Goa State Awards. It was also recognised at the London Indian Film Festival and celebrated at several prestigious film festivals worldwide.
Set against Goa’s vibrant music scene of the 1960s and 1970s, the film draws inspiration from the lives and music of legendary Goan musicians. Through memorable Konkani songs, powerful performances and evocative storytelling, it pays tribute to an extraordinary generation of Goan musicians whose contribution took Konkani music far beyond India’s shores.
The screening forms part of a broader cultural vision to bring the people of Goa and Karnataka closer together. Though the two states possess distinct identities and traditions, they are connected by centuries of shared history, the Konkani language, migration, music, faith, cuisine and family ties.
Speaking about the initiative, Prof. Flora Castelino said:
“Language and culture have the power to build bridges between people. Through cinema, drama, literature, music and other creative expressions, we want the younger generation to understand and appreciate the deep cultural relationship between Goa and Karnataka. Nachom-ia Kumpasar is an ideal film with which to strengthen this dialogue.”
Mr Rex Fernandes said:
“This film is not merely entertainment; it is a tribute to Konkani music, musicians and the cultural memories of an entire generation. We are delighted that the film is being presented at St Aloysius, an institution that has consistently supported Konkani language, literature and culture.”
Mr Bardroy Barretto added:
“Goa and Karnataka may have distinct identities, but we share so much, our language, music, food, memories and, above all, our people. These connections have endured across generations and geography.
I believe cinema can help us rediscover what unites us. Nachom-ia Kumpasar is rooted in the memories and music of Goa, but its emotions belong to a much larger Konkani world. I hope this screening opens the door to more films, music, conversations and collaborations between Goa and Karnataka.”
The organisers envision this screening as part of a continuing Goa–Karnataka cultural exchange involving films, drama, theatre, music, dance, food festivals, literature, heritage programmes and sporting activities. Such engagements can encourage students, artists, cultural organisations and citizens from both states to meet, collaborate and celebrate their shared heritage.
Come, let us celebrate our distinct identities, rediscover our shared roots and build a lasting cultural bridge between Goa and Karnataka.
