Udupi Diocese organizes massive blood donation camp at Udupi Mother of Sorrows Church
ಆಗಸ್ಟ್ 23, 2025 ರಂದು, ಉಡುಪಿ ಡಯಾಸಿಸ್ನ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಆಯೋಗವು ಉಡುಪಿ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಇಲಾಖೆ, ಅಪೂರ್ವ ಮಹಾ ಸಂಘ, ಶೋಕಮಾತೆ ಚರ್ಚ್, ಭಾರತೀಯ ರೆಡ್ಕ್ರಾಸ್ ಸೊಸೈಟಿ, ಉಡುಪಿ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆ, ರಕ್ತ ಬ್ಯಾಂಕ್ ರೆಡ್ಕ್ರಾಸ್ ಸೊಸೈಟಿ, ಕುಂದಾಪುರ ಶಾಖೆ ಮತ್ತು ಮಣಿಪಾಲದ ವೃತ್ತ ಕಚೇರಿಯ ಕೆನರಾ ಬ್ಯಾಂಕ್ ಇವುಗಳ ಸಹಯೋಗದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಉಡುಪಿ ಶೋಕಮಾತೆ ಇಗರ್ಜಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬ್ರಹತ್ ರಕ್ತದಾನ ಶಿಬಿರರಕ್ತದಾನ ಶಿಬಿರವನ್ನು ಆಯೋಜಿಸಿತು
ಇದನ್ನು ಉಡುಪಿ ಡಯಾಸಿಸ್ನ PRO, ತೊಟ್ಟಂನ ಸೇಂಟ್ ಆನ್ ಚರ್ಚಿನ CCBI ಆಯೋಗದ ಸದಸ್ಯ ರೆವರೆಂಡ್ ಫಾದರ್ ಡೆನಿಸ್ ಡೇಸಾ ಉದ್ಘಾಟಿಸಿ “ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬ ರಕ್ತದಾನಿಯೂ ಒಬ್ಬ ಸೂಪರ್ ಹಿರೋ” ಎಂಬ ಘೋಷಣೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ವೇದಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ಯಾಸ್ಟೋರಲ್ ಆಯೋಗಗಳ ಕುಲಪತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಡಯೋಸಿಸನ್ ಸಂಯೋಜಕರಾದ ರೆವರೆಂಡ್ ಫಾದರ್ ಸ್ಟೀಫನ್ ಡಿ’ಸೋಜಾ, ಶೋಕಮಾತಾ ಚರ್ಚ್ನ ಧರ್ಮಗುರು ಉಡುಪಿ ವಲಯ ಪ್ರಧಾನ ಅ।ವಂ। ಚಾರ್ಲ್ಸ್ ಮೆನೆಜಸ್, ಕೆನರಾ ಬ್ಯಾಂಕಿನ ಉಪ ಪ್ರಧಾನ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥಾಪಕ ಶ್ರೀ ಪಾಬಿತ್ರ ಕುಮಾರ್ ಡ್ಯಾಶ್, ಕುಂದಾಪುರ ಶಾಖೆಯ ಬ್ಲಡ್ ಬ್ಯಾಂಕ್ ರೆಡ್ ಕ್ರಾಸ್ ಸೊಸೈಟಿಯ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಶ್ರೀ ಜಯಕುಮಾರ್ ಶೆಟ್ಟಿ, ಉಡುಪಿ ಜಿಲ್ಲಾ ಭಾರತೀಯ ರೆಡ್ ಕ್ರಾಸ್ ಸೊಸೈಟಿಯ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿ ಡಾ. ಗಣಪತಿ ಯೆಕ್ಕರ್, ಗೊರೆಟ್ಟಿ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯ ಆಡಳಿತಾಧಿಕಾರಿ ಶ್ರೀ ಜರೀನಾ ಲೋಬೊ, ಅಪೂರ್ವ ಮಹಾ ಸಂಘದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷೆ ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಸುಮನಾ ಬಾರ್ಬೋಜಾ ಮತ್ತು ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಆಯೋಗದ ಸಂಚಾಲಕಿ ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಗ್ಲಾಡಿ ಸಲ್ಡಾನ್ಹಾ ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದರು.
ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಆಯೋಗದ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕ ಡಾ. ಎಡ್ವರ್ಡ್ ಲೋಬೊ ಸ್ವಾಗತಿಸಿದರು ಮತ್ತು ಗಣ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಸಸ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ನೀಡಿದರು. ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಸಂಚಾಲಕಿ ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಹಿಲ್ಡಾ ಕರ್ನೆಲಿಯೊ ಅವರು ಮುನ್ನುಡಿಯನ್ನು ಮಂಡಿಸಿ, ರಕ್ತದಾನ ಮಾಡಿದ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿಯ ಉದಾತ್ತ ಕಾರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿ ತೋರಿಸಿದರು, ರಕ್ತದಾನವು ಜೀವಗಳನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸುವ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯವಿರುವ ಒಂದು ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಸೇವೆಯಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಿಸುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಸಮುದಾಯಕ್ಕೆ ಮಾದರಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಶಿಬಿರವನ್ನು ಆಯೋಜಿಸುವಲ್ಲಿ ಸಹಾಯ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಅವರು ಯೋಗಕ್ಷೇಮ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿ ಶ್ರೀ ರೋಹಿತ್ ಮತ್ತು ಎಸ್ಪಿಯ ಪಿಎ ಶ್ರೀ ಉದಯ್ ಕುಮಾರ್ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆಗಳನ್ನು ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದರು. 80 ಕ್ಕೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಬಾರಿ ದಾನ ಮಾಡಿ ಅನೇಕ ಜೀವಗಳನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಿದ ಶ್ರೀ ದೇವದಾಸ್ ಪಾಟ್ಕರ್ ಮತ್ತು ಶ್ರೀ ರಾಘವೇಂದ್ರ ಪ್ರಭು ಅವರಂತಹ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ದಾನಿಗಳನ್ನು ಸಹ ಗುರುತಿಸಲಾಯಿತು ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಶಂಸಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
ರಕ್ತದಾನದ ಮಹತ್ವದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಜಾಗೃತಿ ಮೂಡಿಸಲು, 8, 9 ಮತ್ತು 10 ನೇ ತರಗತಿಯ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಚಿತ್ರಕಲಾ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಯನ್ನು ನಡೆಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಉಡುಪಿಯ ಸೇಂಟ್ ಮೇರಿಸ್ ಕನ್ನಡ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮ ಪ್ರೌಢಶಾಲೆಯ ವಿಜೇತರು ಮಾಸ್ಟರ್ ಪ್ರೇತಮ್ ಪೂಜಾರಿ, ಪ್ರಜ್ವಲ್ ಮತ್ತು ನೂತನ್, ಆದರೆ ನಿಶಿತಾ ಎಸ್ ಮಯ್ಯ, ಹೋಶಿಕಾ ಸಿ ಮತ್ತು ಸೌಪರ್ಣಿಕಾ ಕೂಡ ಬಹುಮಾನಗಳನ್ನು ಪಡೆದರು. ಕೆನರಾ ಬ್ಯಾಂಕಿನ ಉಪ ಮಹಾ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥಾಪಕ ಶ್ರೀ ಪಾಬಿತ್ರ ಕುಮಾರ್ ದಾಶ್ ಅವರು ವಿಜೇತರಿಗೆ ಸ್ಮರಣಿಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಮಾಣಪತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರದಾನ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ವಿಶೇಷ ಆಕರ್ಷಣೆಯೆಂದರೆ ಕಣ್ಣರ್ಪಾಡಿಯ ಸೇಂಟ್ ಮೇರಿಸ್ ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮ ಶಾಲೆಯ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತಪಡಿಸಿದ ಲೈವ್ ಮಾದರಿ, ಇದು ಮಾನವ ಜೀವನಕ್ಕೆ ರಕ್ತದ ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ಸೂಚಿಸುತ್ತದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಗಣ್ಯರು ಇದನ್ನು ಅನಾವರಣಗೊಳಿಸಿದರು.
ಉಡುಪಿ ಧರ್ಮಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯದ ಕುಲಪತಿ ಅ।ವಂ। ಸ್ಟೀಫನ್ ಡಿ’ಸೋಜಾ ಮತ್ತು ಶ್ರೀ ಪಾಬಿತ್ರ ಕುಮಾರ್ ದಾಶ್ ಅವರು ಸಂಘಟಕರನ್ನು ಅಭಿನಂದಿಸಿದರು, ಆದರೆ ಶ್ರೀ ಜಯಕುಮಾರ್ ಶೆಟ್ಟಿ ಸಮಾಜದಲ್ಲಿ ರೆಡ್ ಕ್ರಾಸ್ನ ಪಾತ್ರವನ್ನು ವಿವರಿಸಿದರು ಮತ್ತು ಸ್ವಯಂಪ್ರೇರಿತ ರಕ್ತದಾನದ ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ಒತ್ತಿ ಹೇಳಿದರು. ತಮ್ಮ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷೀಯ ಭಾಷಣದಲ್ಲಿ, ವಂ। ಡೆನಿಸ್ ಡೆಸಾ ಅವರು ರಕ್ತದಾನವನ್ನು ಒಬ್ಬರು ಜೀವಂತವಾಗಿರುವಾಗ ಮಾತ್ರ ಮಾಡಬಹುದು ಮತ್ತು ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಆರೋಗ್ಯವಂತ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಗಳು ನಿಯಮಿತವಾಗಿ ರಕ್ತದಾನ ಮಾಡಲು ಮತ್ತು ಆರೋಗ್ಯಕರ ಜೀವನವನ್ನು ನಡೆಸಲು ಮುಂದಾಗಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು. ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಗ್ಲಾಡಿ ಸಲ್ಡಾನ್ಹಾ ವಂದಿಸಿದರು, ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಆಯೋಗದ ಸದಸ್ಯೆ ಡಾ. ಸೋನಿ ಡಿ’ಕೋಸ್ಟಾ ನಿರೂಪಿಸಿದರು.

Udupi Diocese organizes massive blood donation camp at Udupi Mother of Sorrows Church
Udupi; August 23, 2025, the Health Commission, Diocese of Udupi, in association with the Department of Police, Udupi District, Apoorva Maha Sangha, Mother of Sorrows Church, Indian Red Cross Society, Udupi District, Blood Bank Red Cross Society, Kundapur Branch, and Canara Bank, Circle Office, Manipal, organized a Blood Donation Camp which was inaugurated by Rev. Fr Denis D’sa, PRO of the Udupi Diocese, Parish Priest of St Ann Church, Thottam, and Member of the CCBI Commission for Ecumenism (National Committee). A standee with the slogan “EVERY BLOOD DONOR IS A SUPER HERO” was displayed at the venue. Present on the occasion were Very Rev. Fr Stephen D’Souza, Chancellor and Diocesan Coordinator of Pastoral Commissions, Very Rev. Fr Charles Menezes, Parish Priest of Mother of Sorrows Church, Sri Pabitra Kumar Dash, Deputy General Manager of Canara Bank, Sri Jayakumar Shetty, Chairman of the Blood Bank Red Cross Society, Kundapur Branch, Dr Ganapathy Yekkar, Secretary of the Indian Red Cross Society, Udupi District, Sr Zarina Lobo, Administrator of Goretti Hospital, Mrs Sumana Barboza, President of Apoorva Maha Sangha, and Mrs Glady Saldanha, Convenor of the Health Commission, Mother of Sorrows Church. Dr Edward Lobo, Director of the Health Commission, welcomed the gathering and presented plants to the dignitaries. Mrs Hilda Cornelio, Convenor of the program,
delivered the preamble, highlighting the noble gesture of the police staff who donated blood, setting an example for the community by demonstrating that blood donation is a major act of service capable of saving lives. She also expressed gratitude to Sri Rohit, Well-Being Officer, and Sri Uday Kumar, PA to the SP, for their assistance in organizing the camp. Major donors such as Sri Devadas Patkar and Sri Raghavendra Prabhu, who have donated more than 80 times and thereby saved many lives, were also recognized and appreciated.
To spread awareness on the importance of blood donation, a drawing competition was conducted for students of Classes 8, 9, and 10. The winners from St Mary’s KannadaMedium High School, Udupi were Master Pretam Poojary, Prajwal, and Nutan, while Nishitha S Mayya, Hoshika C, and Sowparnika also secured prizes. The Deputy General Manager of Canara Bank, Sri Pabitra Kumar Dash, presented mementos and certificates to the winners. A special attraction of the program was a live model presented by the students of St Mary’s English Medium School, Kannarpady, which signified the importance of blood for human life and was unveiled by the dignitaries. In their messages, Very Rev. Fr Stephen D’Souza and Sri Pabitra Kumar Dash congratulated the organizers, while Sri Jayakumar Shetty explained the role of the Red Cross in society and stressed the importance of voluntary blood donation. In his
presidential address, Rev. Fr Denis D’sa stated that blood can be donated only while one is alive and therefore healthy individuals should take the initiative to donate blood regularly and live a healthy life. The vote of thanks was proposed by Mrs Glady Saldanha, and the program was compered by Dr Sony D’Costa, Member of the Health Commission. The organizers appreciated the support of the School Principal, Rev. Fr Vijay D’Souza, and Principal Mrs Agnes Pereira in conducting the drawing competition and presented them with a memento as a token of appreciation. They also expressed gratitude to the
sponsors of the program Ujwal Developers, Rural Education Foundation Trust, Canara Integrated Services, Dr Edward Lobo, M/s Vital Base Healthcare Providers Ltd., and Mrs Hilda Cornelio.
