ಸಂತೇಕಟ್ಟೆ ; ಸಂತ ಜೋಕಿಮ್ ಮತ್ತು ಅನ್ನಿ ಮತ್ತು ಹಿರಿಯ ನಾಗರಿಕರ ಹಬ್ಬವನ್ನು ಸಂತೇಕಟ್ಟೆಯ ಮೌಂಟ್ ರೋಸರಿ ಚರ್ಚ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂತೋಷದಿಂದ ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು
ಮೇರಿ ತಾಯಿ ಮತ್ತು ಅಜ್ಜಿಯರ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯ ಪೋಷಕರು ಮತ್ತು ಅಜ್ಜಿಯ ಪೋಷಕರಾದ ಸಂತ ಜೋಕಿಮ್ ಮತ್ತು ಅನ್ನಿ ಅವರ ಹಬ್ಬವನ್ನು ಭಾನುವಾರ, ಜುಲೈ 27, 2025 ರಂದು ಸಂತೇಕಟ್ಟೆಯ ಮೌಂಟ್ ರೋಸರಿ ಚರ್ಚ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಆಳವಾದ ಭಕ್ತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂತೋಷದಿಂದ ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು, 5 ನೇ ವಿಶ್ವ ಅಜ್ಜ-ತಂದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಹಿರಿಯರ ದಿನವನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸಲು ವಿಶೇಷ ಆಚರಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ, ಇದು ಪ್ಯಾರಿಷ್ನ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಹಿರಿಯ ನಾಗರಿಕರನ್ನು ಗೌರವಿಸಿತು.
ವಯಸ್ಸು ಮತ್ತು ಚಲನಶೀಲತೆಯ ಸವಾಲುಗಳ ಹೊರತಾಗಿಯೂ, ನಮ್ಮ ಹಿರಿಯರ ಮನೋಭಾವವು ಕಡಿಮೆಯಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಚರ್ಚ್ನ ಮುಂಭಾಗದ ಪೀಠಗಳು ಅಜ್ಜ-ಅಜ್ಜಿ ಮತ್ತು ಹಿರಿಯರಿಂದ ಸಂತೋಷದಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿದ್ದವು, ಭಕ್ತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಉತ್ಸಾಹವನ್ನು ಹೊರಹಾಕಿದವು. ಹಬ್ಬದ ಪವಿತ್ರ ಬಲಿದಾನವನ್ನು ಭೋಪಾಲ್ನ ನಿವೃತ್ತ ಆರ್ಚ್ಬಿಷಪ್ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ಯಾರಿಷ್ನ ಹೆಮ್ಮೆಯ ಸ್ಥಳೀಯರಾದ ಅವರ ಗ್ರೇಸ್ ರೆವರೆಂಡ್ ಡಾ. ಲಿಯೋ ಕಾರ್ನೆಲಿಯೊ ಅವರು ಶ್ರದ್ಧೆಯಿಂದ ಆಚರಿಸಿದರು.
ತಮ್ಮ ಧರ್ಮೋಪದೇಶದ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ, ಪ್ಯಾರಿಷ್ ಪಾದ್ರಿ ರೆವರೆಂಡ್ ಡಾ. ರೋಕ್ ಡಿಸೋಜಾ ಅವರು ವೃದ್ಧರನ್ನು ದೇವರ ಹೇರಳವಾದ ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದಗಳಿಗೆ ಕೃತಜ್ಞರಾಗಿರಲು ಒತ್ತಾಯಿಸಿದರು ಮತ್ತು ಅವರ ಆರೋಗ್ಯದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಗಮನ ಹರಿಸಲು ಅವರನ್ನು ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹಿಸಿದರು. ಹೃದಯಸ್ಪರ್ಶಿ ಸಂದೇಶವು ಸಭೆಯನ್ನು, ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ಜೀವನದ ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ವಿಜಯಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ನಂಬಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಸಾಕಾರಗೊಳಿಸುವ ವೃದ್ಧರನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿಧ್ವನಿಸಿತು.
ಪವಿತ್ರ ಬಲಿದಾನದ ನಂತರ, ಸ್ವತಃ ಅಷ್ಟಮಹರ್ಷಿಯಾದ ಬಿಷಪ್ ಕಾರ್ನೆಲಿಯೊ, ಪಕ್ಕದ ಮಿನಿ ಹಾಲ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ರುಚಿಕರವಾದ ಉಪಹಾರದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಆಚರಣೆ ಮುಂದುವರೆದಾಗ ಪ್ಯಾರಿಷ್ನ ಹಿರಿಯ ಸಮುದಾಯದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಒಳನೋಟವುಳ್ಳ ಸಂದೇಶವನ್ನು ಹಂಚಿಕೊಂಡರು. ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ 9:45 ರ ಹೊತ್ತಿಗೆ, ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಜೊವಿಟಾ ಫೆರ್ನಾಂಡಿಸ್ ನೇತೃತ್ವದ ಚರ್ಚ್ ಗಾಯಕವೃಂದದ ಸುಮಧುರ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನಾ ಸ್ತುತಿಗೀತೆಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ಸಣ್ಣ ಆದರೆ ಅರ್ಥಪೂರ್ಣ ವೇದಿಕೆ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಯಿತು.
ಕುಟುಂಬ ಆಯೋಗದ ಸಂಚಾಲಕರಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ವಿಜಯ್ ಸಿಕ್ವೇರಾ ಅವರು ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಅತಿಥಿಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಗಣ್ಯರನ್ನು ಆತ್ಮೀಯವಾಗಿ ಸ್ವಾಗತಿಸಿದರು. ಶ್ರೀ ವಿನ್ಸೆಂಟ್ ಮೆನೆಜೆಸ್ (ಸೀನಿಯರ್ ಸಿಟಿಜನ್ಸ್ ಕ್ಲಬ್ನ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರು), ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಬೀನಾ ಲೂಯಿಸ್ (ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿ) ಮತ್ತು ಇತರ ಪದಾಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ವೇದಿಕೆಯ ಮೇಲಿರುವ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಗಣ್ಯರು ಮತ್ತು ವಿವಿಧ ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಡುಗೆ ನೀಡಿದ ವಿಶೇಷ ದಾನಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಪ್ರೀತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಗೌರವದ ಸೂಚಕವಾಗಿ ಸ್ಪರ್ಶದ ಪುಷ್ಪನಮನವನ್ನು ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದರು.
ಬೆಳಗಿನ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಅಂಶವೆಂದರೆ ಮೂವರು ಗಮನಾರ್ಹ ಹಿರಿಯ ನಾಗರಿಕರು ಹಂಚಿಕೊಂಡ ಚಿಂತನೆಗಳು:
ಶ್ರೀ ಸ್ಟ್ಯಾನಿ ಕಾರ್ನೆಲಿಯೊ, ನಿವೃತ್ತ ಬ್ಯಾಂಕರ್ ಮತ್ತು ಮಾಜಿ ಪಿಪಿಸಿ ಉಪಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷೆ,
ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಜೆಸ್ಸಿ ನಜರೆತ್, ದಿಟ್ಟ ಮತ್ತು ಸ್ಪೂರ್ತಿದಾಯಕ ಮಹಿಳಾ ನಾಯಕಿ,
ಶ್ರೀ ವಲೇರಿಯನ್ ಫೆರ್ನಾಂಡಿಸ್, ಉದ್ಯಮಿ, ಸಮಾಜ ಸೇವಕಿ ಮತ್ತು ಕ್ಯಾಥೋಲಿಕ್ ಸಭಾದ ಮಾಜಿ ಡಯೋಸಿಸನ್ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷೆ.
ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬರೂ ಸಂತೋಷದ ಕ್ಷಣಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ಎದುರಿಸಿದ ಸವಾಲುಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ – ದುಃಖ ಮತ್ತು ಆಚರಣೆಯ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರ ಕುಟುಂಬಗಳು, ನಂಬಿಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರು ಹೇಗೆ ತಮ್ಮೊಂದಿಗೆ ನಿಂತರು ಎಂಬುದರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಪ್ರಾಮಾಣಿಕವಾಗಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು. ಅವರ ಮಾತುಗಳು ಕಿರಿಯ ಹಾಜರಿದ್ದವರು ಮತ್ತು ಗೆಳೆಯರ ಮೇಲೆ ಶಾಶ್ವತವಾದ ಪ್ರಭಾವ ಬೀರಿತು.
ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷತೆ ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದ ರೆವರೆಂಡ್ ಡಾ. ರೋಕ್ ಡಿಸೋಜಾ ದೈಹಿಕ ಮತ್ತು ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಯೋಗಕ್ಷೇಮವನ್ನು ಕಾಪಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಅಮೂಲ್ಯವಾದ ಸಲಹೆಯನ್ನು ನೀಡಿದರು ಮತ್ತು ಇಂತಹ ಹೃತ್ಪೂರ್ವಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಆಯೋಜಿಸಿದ್ದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಕುಟುಂಬ ಆಯೋಗ ಮತ್ತು ಎಸ್ಸಿಸಿ ಘಟಕಗಳ ಜಂಟಿ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಗಳನ್ನು ಆಳವಾಗಿ ಶ್ಲಾಘಿಸಿದರು.
ಫಾ. ಸಹಾಯಕ ಪ್ಯಾರಿಷ್ ಪಾದ್ರಿ ರೋಹನ್ ಮಸ್ಕರೆನ್ಹಸ್, ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಹಿರಿಯ ನಾಗರಿಕರಿಗೆ ಆತ್ಮೀಯ ಶುಭಾಶಯಗಳನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು, ಅವರನ್ನು ನಮ್ಮ ಸಮಾಜದ ನಿಜವಾದ ಸಂಪತ್ತು ಮತ್ತು ಬುದ್ಧಿವಂತಿಕೆ ಎಂದು ಕರೆದರು, ಸಂದೇಶದ ವಿಷಯವನ್ನು ಉಲ್ಲೇಖಿಸಿದರು – ಭರವಸೆಯನ್ನು ಕಳೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳದವರು ಧನ್ಯರು … (ಸರ್ 14:2).
ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಪ್ಯಾರಿಷ್ ಪ್ಯಾಸ್ಟೋರಲ್ ಕೌನ್ಸಿಲ್ನ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿ ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಪ್ರಿಯಾ ಫರ್ಟಾಡೊ ಅವರು ಹರ್ಷಚಿತ್ತದಿಂದ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಿದರು, ಅವರು ಸ್ಪಾಟ್ ಆಟಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಜನಸಮೂಹವನ್ನು ತೊಡಗಿಸಿಕೊಂಡರು, ಬೆಳಗಿನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಉತ್ಸಾಹಭರಿತ ಚೈತನ್ಯವನ್ನು ಸೇರಿಸಿದರು.
ಶ್ರೀ ಲ್ಯೂಕ್ ಡಿಸೋಜಾ, ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಡೈಸಿ ಮೆಂಡೋಂಕಾ (20 ಆಯೋಗಗಳ ಉಪಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರು ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಯೋಜಕರು) ಮತ್ತು ಇತರ ಅನೇಕ ಸಕ್ರಿಯ ಪ್ಯಾರಿಷನರ್ಗಳ ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತಿಯು ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಕ್ಕೆ ಅನುಗ್ರಹ ಮತ್ತು ಶಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಸೇರಿಸಿತು.
ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಹಾಜರಿದ್ದವರು ಅಚ್ಚರಿಯ ಟೇಕ್ಅವೇಗಳನ್ನು ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸಲು ಮತ್ತು ಪೌಷ್ಟಿಕ ಸೂಪ್ ಅನ್ನು ಆನಂದಿಸಲು ಸಂತೋಷಪಟ್ಟರು, ಇದು ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಉದ್ದಕ್ಕೂ ಉತ್ಸಾಹ ಮತ್ತು ಹೃದಯಗಳನ್ನು ಬೆಚ್ಚಗಿಟ್ಟಿತು.
ಇದು ನಿಜಕ್ಕೂ ಸ್ಮರಣೀಯ ಆಚರಣೆಯಾಗಿತ್ತು – ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆ, ಸಂತೋಷ ಮತ್ತು ಸ್ಫೂರ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿತ್ತು – ನಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯ ಹಿರಿಯ ನಾಗರಿಕರ ಘನತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಹರ್ಷಚಿತ್ತದಿಂದ ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಸ್ಪರ್ಶಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟರು.

Santhekatte; Feast of Sts. Joachim and Anne & Senior Citizens Day Joyfully Celebrated at Mount Rosary Church, Santhekatte
The Feast of Saints Joachim and Anne—the beloved parents of Mother Mary and patrons of grandparents—was celebrated with deep reverence and joy at Mount Rosary Church, Santhekatte, on Sunday, 27th July 2025, in a special celebration, to mark the 5th World Day of Grand Parents & the Elderly, that also honoured all the senior citizens of the parish.
Despite the challenges of age and mobility, the spirit of our elders remained undiminished. The front pews of the church were joyously filled with grandparents and seniors, exuding devotion and enthusiasm. The festal Holy Mass was solemnly celebrated by His Grace Rt. Rev. Dr. Leo Cornelio, retired Archbishop of Bhopal and a proud native of the parish.
During his homily, Parish Priest Rev. Dr. Roque D’Souza urged the elderly to remain grateful for God’s abundant blessings and encouraged them to be mindful of their health. The heartfelt message resonated with the congregation, especially the elderly who often embody faith through life’s trials and triumphs.
After the Holy Mass, Bishop Cornelio, himself an octogenarian, shared an insightful message with senior community of the parish as the celebration continued in the adjacent Mini Hall with a delicious breakfast. By 9:45 a.m., a short yet meaningful stage program commenced with melodious prayer hymns by the Church Choir led by Mrs. Jovita Fernandes.
Mr. Vijay Sequeira, Convenor of the Family Commission, warmly welcomed all guests and dignitaries. A touching floral tribute was offered by Mr. Vincent Menezes (President of the Senior Citizens Club), Mrs. Beena Lewis (Secretary), and other office-bearers as a gesture of love and respect to all the dignitaries on the dais and special donors who contributed in different ways.
The highlight of the morning was the reflections shared by three remarkable senior citizens:
Mr. Stany Cornelio, retired banker and former PPC Vice President,
Mrs. Jessie Nazareth, a bold and inspiring women’s leader,
Mr. Valerian Fernandes, businessman, social worker, and former Diocesan President of Catholic Sabha.
Each of them spoke candidly about moments of joy, as well as challenges they had faced in life—how their families, faith, and friends stood by them during times of sorrow and celebration. Their words left a lasting impression on the younger attendees and peers alike.
Presiding over the event, Rev. Dr. Roque D’Souza offered valuable advice on maintaining physical and mental well-being, and deeply appreciated the joint efforts of the Family Commission and SCC units for organizing such a heartfelt event.
Fr. Rohan Mascarenhas, Assistant Parish Priest, conveyed warm wishes to all senior citizens, calling them, the true wealth and wisdom of our society, quoting the theme of the message – Blessed are those who have not lost hope…(Sir14:2).
The event was cheerfully compeered by Mrs. Priya Furtado, Secretary of the Parish Pastoral Council, who also engaged the crowd with spot games, adding a lively spirit to the morning.
The presence of Mr. Luke D’Souza, Mrs. Daisy Mendonca (Vice President and Co-ordinator of 20 Commissions), and many other active parishioners added grace and strength to the event.
All attendees were delighted to receive surprise takeaways and enjoy nourishing soup, which kept spirits high and hearts warm throughout the program.
It was indeed a memorable celebration—full of gratitude, joy, and inspiration—leaving everyone touched by the dignity and cheerfulness of our beloved senior citizens.
