ಎಂ.ಸಿ.ಸಿ. ಬ್ಯಾಂಕ್ ವತಿಯಿಂದ ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಭಾಷೆಯನ್ನು ಭಾರತದ ಸಂವಿಧಾನದ ಎಂಟನೇ ಅನುಸೂಚಿಗೆ ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕವಾಗಿ ಸೇರ್ಪಡೆಗೊಳಿಸಿದ ದಿನವನ್ನು ಸ್ಮರಿಸುವ ಅಂಗವಾಗಿ, ಶನಿವಾರ, 15 ಆಗಸ್ಟ್ 2026ರಂದು, ಬ್ಯಾಂಕಿನ ಆಡಳಿತ ಕಚೇರಿಯ ಪಿ.ಎಫ್.ಎಕ್ಸ್. ಸಾಲ್ದಾನ್ಹಾ ಸ್ಮಾರಕ ಸಭಾಂಗಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಮಾನ್ಯತಾ ದಿವಸವನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷತೆಯನ್ನು ಎಂ.ಸಿ.ಸಿ. ಬ್ಯಾಂಕಿನ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ಸಹಕಾರ ರತ್ನ ಶ್ರೀ ಅನಿಲ್ ಲೋಬೊ ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿಯ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಸ್ಟ್ಯಾನಿ ಅಲ್ವಾರಿಸ್ ಹಾಗೂ ರಾಕ್ಣೊ ವಾರಪತ್ರಿಕೆಯ ಸಂಪಾದಕರು ಮತ್ತು ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಧರ್ಮಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯದ ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ಸಂಪರ್ಕಾಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳಾದ ವಂದನೀಯ ಫಾ| ರೂಪೇಶ್ ಮಾಡ್ತಾ ಅವರು ಮುಖ್ಯ ಅತಿಥಿಗಳಾಗಿ ಆಗಮಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಖ್ಯಾತ ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಗಾಯಕಿ “ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಮೈನಾ” ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಮೀನಾ ರೆಬಿಂಬಸ್ ಹಾಗೂ ರೆಬಿಂಬಸ್ ಕ್ರಿಯೇಷನ್ಸ್ನ ಮಾಲೀಕರಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ವಿಶ್ವಾಸ್ ರೆಬಿಂಬಸ್ ಅವರು ಗೌರವ ಅತಿಥಿಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಬ್ಯಾಂಕಿನ ಉಪಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಜೆರಾಲ್ಡ್ ಜೆ. ಡಿಸಿಲ್ವಾ ಹಾಗೂ ಮಹಾಪ್ರಬಂಧಕರಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಸುನಿಲ್ ಮೆನೆಜಸ್ ಅವರು ವೇದಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದರು.
ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವು ಶ್ರೀ ಸ್ಟ್ಯಾನಿ ಅಲ್ವಾರಿಸ್ ಅವರು ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಧ್ವಜಾರೋಹಣ ಮಾಡುವುದರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಆರಂಭಗೊಂಡಿತು.
ಪ್ರಾಸ್ತಾವಿಕವಾಗಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಬ್ಯಾಂಕಿನ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ಸಹಕಾರ ರತ್ನ ಶ್ರೀ ಅನಿಲ್ ಲೋಬೊ ಅವರು ಹಣಕಾಸು ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯೊಂದರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಮಾನ್ಯತಾ ದಿವಸ ಆಚರಿಸುವ ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ವಿವರಿಸಿದರು. ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಕರಾವಳಿ ಪ್ರದೇಶದ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಸಹಕಾರಿ ಬ್ಯಾಂಕುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದಾಗಿರುವ ಎಂ.ಸಿ.ಸಿ. ಬ್ಯಾಂಕಿನ ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿ ಕೇವಲ ಬ್ಯಾಂಕಿಂಗ್ ಸೇವೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಸೀಮಿತವಾಗಿರದೆ, ಸಮಾಜದ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಮತ್ತು ಭಾಷಾ ಪರಂಪರೆಯ ಸಂರಕ್ಷಣೆಯನ್ನೂ ಒಳಗೊಂಡಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಹೇಳಿದರು. ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಭಾಷೆಯ ಶ್ರೀಮಂತ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಪರಂಪರೆಯನ್ನು ಸಂರಕ್ಷಿಸಿ, ಉತ್ತೇಜಿಸುವ ಬ್ಯಾಂಕಿನ ಬದ್ಧತೆಯನ್ನು ಅವರು ಪುನರುಚ್ಚರಿಸಿದರು. ಬ್ಯಾಂಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಮಾನ್ಯತಾ ದಿವಸ ಅನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯೋತ್ಸವದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದು, ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಮಾನ್ಯತಾ ದಿವಸದ ನಿಜವಾದ ದಿನಾಂಕ ಆಗಸ್ಟ್ 20 ಆಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಅವರು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು. ತಮ್ಮ ಆಡಳಿತ ಅವಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಈ ಆಚರಣೆಯನ್ನು ಮುಂದುವರಿಸುವುದಾಗಿ ಘೋಷಿಸಿದ ಅವರು, ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಮಾನ್ಯತಾ ದಿವಸದ ಶುಭಾಶಯಗಳನ್ನು ಕೋರಿದರು.
ಉದ್ಘಾಟಕರಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಸ್ಟ್ಯಾನಿ ಅಲ್ವಾರಿಸ್ ಅವರು ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಮಾನ್ಯತಾ ದಿವಸ ಆಚರಣೆಯ ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ವಿವರಿಸುತ್ತಾ, ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಭಾಷೆಯನ್ನು ಭಾರತದ ಸಂವಿಧಾನದ ಎಂಟನೇ ಅನುಸೂಚಿಗೆ 22 ಭಾಷೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದಾಗಿ ಸೇರ್ಪಡೆಗೊಳಿಸಲು ಹಾಗೂ ಗೋವಾದ ಅಧಿಕೃತ ಭಾಷೆಯಾಗಿ ಮಾನ್ಯತೆ ದೊರಕಿಸಲು ಹೋರಾಡಿದ ಹಿರಿಯರು ಮತ್ತು ಭಾಷಾ ಹೋರಾಟಗಾರರ ಪರಿಶ್ರಮ ಹಾಗೂ ತ್ಯಾಗವನ್ನು ಸ್ಮರಿಸಿದರು. ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಭಾಷೆಯ ಬೆಳವಣಿಗೆಗೆ ಶ್ರಮಿಸಿದ ಎಲ್ಲರನ್ನೂ ಅವರು ಅಭಿನಂದಿಸಿದರು. ಎಂ.ಸಿ.ಸಿ. ಬ್ಯಾಂಕಿನ ಯುವ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಭಾಷೆಗೆ ಬೆಂಬಲ ನೀಡುವುದರ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಭಾಷೆ, ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಆಳವಾದ ಅಭಿಮಾನವನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಮುಂದಿನ ಪೀಳಿಗೆಗೆ ಅದನ್ನು ಕೊಂಡೊಯ್ಯಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಕರೆ ನೀಡಿದರು. ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಭಾಷೆ, ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಪರಂಪರೆಗೆ ಪ್ರಾಮಾಣಿಕವಾಗಿ ಬೆಂಬಲ ನೀಡುತ್ತಿರುವ ಬ್ಯಾಂಕಿನ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರು, ಆಡಳಿತ ಮಂಡಳಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿಗೆ ಅವರು ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದರು.
ವಂದನೀಯ ಫಾ| ರೂಪೇಶ್ ಮಾಡ್ತಾ ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಭಾಷಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಗಸ್ಟ್ 15ರ ವಿಶಿಷ್ಟ ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ವಿವರಿಸುತ್ತಾ, ಇದು ತಾಯಿ ಮರಿಯಮ್ಮನ ಸ್ವರ್ಗಾರೋಹಣ ಹಬ್ಬ, ಭಾರತ ಮಾತೆಯ ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯ ದಿನ ಹಾಗೂ ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಮಾತೆಯ ಮಾನ್ಯತೆಯ ದಿನ ಎಂಬ ಮೂರು ಮಹತ್ವಗಳನ್ನು ಒಳಗೊಂಡ ದಿನವಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ನಂಬಿಕೆ, ದೇಶಭಕ್ತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಪರಂಪರೆಯ ಮೌಲ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಒಂದೇ ವೇದಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಗ್ಗೂಡಿಸಿ ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭಗಳಿಗೆ ಮಹತ್ವ ನೀಡುತ್ತಿರುವ ಎಂ.ಸಿ.ಸಿ. ಬ್ಯಾಂಕನ್ನು ಅವರು ಶ್ಲಾಘಿಸಿದರು.
ಅವರು ಎಂ.ಸಿ.ಸಿ. ಬ್ಯಾಂಕಿನ ಮೂರು ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಅಂಶಗಳನ್ನು ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಶಂಸಿಸಿದರು:
- ಅತ್ಯುತ್ತಮ ಮತ್ತು ಗ್ರಾಹಕ ಸ್ನೇಹಿ ಸೇವೆ,
- ವಿವಿಧ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳನ್ನು ಅಚ್ಚುಕಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ಮತ್ತು ಅರ್ಥಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ಆಯೋಜಿಸುವ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ, ಹಾಗೂ
- ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಮೌಲ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಉತ್ತೇಜಿಸಲು ಬ್ಯಾಂಕ್ ನೀಡುತ್ತಿರುವ ಉದಾರ ಬೆಂಬಲ.
ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಬ್ಯಾಂಕಿಂಗ್ ಕಾರ್ಯಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮೀರಿ ಸಮಾಜದ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಗೆ ಬ್ಯಾಂಕಿನ ಆಡಳಿತ ಮಂಡಳಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ ನೀಡುತ್ತಿರುವ ಕೊಡುಗೆಯನ್ನು ಅವರು ಮೆಚ್ಚುಗೆ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದರು.
ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ವಿಶೇಷ ಆಕರ್ಷಣೆಯಾಗಿ, ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಸಂಗೀತ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಪರಂಪರೆಗೆ ಜೀವಮಾನವಿಡೀ ಅಮೂಲ್ಯ ಕೊಡುಗೆ ನೀಡಿರುವ “ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಮೈನಾ” ಎಂದೇ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯಿಂದ ಕರೆಯಲ್ಪಡುವ ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಮೀನಾ ರೆಬಿಂಬಸ್ ಅವರನ್ನು ಸನ್ಮಾನಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಅವರಿಗೆ ಶಾಲು, ಹಾರ, ಹಣ್ಣುಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ₹50,000/- ಮೊತ್ತದ ಚೆಕ್ ನೀಡಿ ಗೌರವಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಶ್ರೀ ಡೇವಿಡ್ ಡಿಸೋಜ ಅವರು ಅವರ ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಸಂಗೀತ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದ ಗಮನಾರ್ಹ ಸೇವೆಯನ್ನು ವಿವರಿಸುವ ಸನ್ಮಾನ ಪತ್ರವನ್ನು ವಾಚಿಸಿದರು.

ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಭಾಷೆಗೆ ದೊರೆತ ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ ಮಾನ್ಯತೆಯನ್ನು ಸ್ಮರಿಸುವುದರ ಜೊತೆಗೆ, ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಭಾಷೆ, ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಪರಂಪರೆಯನ್ನು ಮುಂದಿನ ಪೀಳಿಗೆಗಳಿಗೂ ಉಳಿಸಿ ಬೆಳೆಸುವ ತನ್ನ ಅಚಲ ಬದ್ಧತೆಯನ್ನು ಎಂ.ಸಿ.ಸಿ. ಬ್ಯಾಂಕ್ ಮತ್ತೊಮ್ಮೆ ದೃಢಪಡಿಸಿದ ಅರ್ಥಪೂರ್ಣ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವಾಗಿ ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಮಾನ್ಯತಾ ದಿವಸ ಆಚರಣೆ ಮೂಡಿಬಂತು.
MCC Bank Celebrates Konkani Manyata Divas
MCC Bank Ltd celebrated Konkani Manyata Divas with great enthusiasm and cultural fervour at the P.F.X. Saldanha Memorial Auditorium of its Administrative Office on Saturday, August 15, 2026, commemorating the historic inclusion of the Konkani language in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution of India. The celebration reflected the Bank’s enduring commitment to preserving and promoting the rich linguistic and cultural heritage of the Konkani language.
The programme was presided over by Sahakara Ratna Mr Anil Lobo, Chairman of MCC Bank Ltd. Mr Stany Alvares, President of the Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy, and Rev. Fr Roopesh Madtha, Editor of Raknno Weekly and Public Relations Officer of the Diocese of Mangalore, graced the occasion as the Chief Guests. Renowned Konkani singer “Konkani Maina” Mrs Meena Rebimbus and Mr Vishwas Rebimbus, Proprietor of Rebimbus Creations, were the Guests of Honour. Also present on the dais were Vice Chairman Mr Jerald J. D’Silva and General Manager Mr Sunil Menezes
The event commenced with the ceremonial hoisting of the Konkani flag by Mr Stany Alvares, symbolising the pride and identity of the Konkani community.
In his introductory address, Chairman Sahakara Ratna Mr Anil Lobo highlighted the significance of celebrating Konkani Manyata Divas within a financial institution. He observed that, as one of the leading co-operative banks in the coastal region of Karnataka, MCC Bank has a social responsibility that extends beyond banking services. He reaffirmed the Bank’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting the rich cultural heritage of the Konkani language. He mentioned that the Bank celebrates Konkani Manyata Divas along with the Independence Day celebrations, although the actual date of Konkani Manyata Divas is 20th August. He further announced that the celebration would continue during his tenure and wished all the participants a Happy Konkani Manyata Divas.
Chief Guest Mr Stany Alvares spoke passionately about the importance of observing Konkani Manyata Divas, recalling the relentless efforts and sacrifices of the pioneers who fought for the inclusion of Konkani, as one of 22 languages, in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution and for its recognition as the official language of Goa. He appreciated the hard work of the people who have contributed towards the Konkani language and urged the young people at MCC Bank to support the Konkani language and to nurture a deep love for language, literature and traditions of Konkani for future generations. He thanked the chairman, Board of directors and the Staff members for their sincere support towards Konkani language, culture and its heritage.
In his address, Rev. Fr Roopesh Madtha reflected on the unique significance of 15th August, describing it as a day of three-fold importance—the Feast of the Assumption of Mother Mary, the Independence of Bharat Mata, and the recognition of Konkani Mata. He appreciated MCC Bank for giving importance to these occasions and bringing together the values of faith, patriotism and cultural heritage. He particularly commended MCC Bank for its three notable aspects: (1) its exemplary and customer-friendly service, through which customers are given personal attention and assistance; (2) the excellent arrangements and systematic conduct of various programmes, reflecting the Bank’s commitment to organising meaningful events; and (3) its generosity in promoting cultural values, particularly by encouraging and supporting activities that preserve and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the Konkani community.
He appreciated the management and staff of MCC Bank for their dedication and for going beyond their regular banking responsibilities to contribute to the social and cultural development of the community.
A special highlight of the programme was the felicitation of Mrs Meena Rebimbus, affectionately known as the “Konkani Maina,” in recognition of her lifelong and invaluable contribution to Konkani music and cultural heritage. She was honoured with a shawl, garland, fruits and a cheque of ₹50,000/- as a token of appreciation. Mr David D’Souza read out the felicitation citation, highlighting her remarkable contribution to Konkani music and culture, before presenting it to the distinguished artiste.
Responding to the honour, Mrs Meena Rebimbus expressed her heartfelt gratitude to MCC Bank for recognizing her contributions. She appreciated Chairman Mr Anil Lobo for his innovative vision and thoughtful initiative in organizing Konkani Manyata Divas in such a meaningful manner. She also sang a song about MCC Bank, composed and originally sung by the late Wilfy Rebimbus, through which he called upon the public to support and contribute to the growth and upliftment of MCC Bank.
As part of the celebrations, Directors who celebrated their birthdays in August 2026 and staff members who celebrated their Silver or Golden Birthdays during the year 2026 were felicitated by Chairman Mr Anil Lobo in recognition of these special milestones.
The cultural segment added colour and vibrancy to the celebrations with captivating performances by Agrar Gumta Pangod, Urban Groove Dance Group, and the Campus Chords Singing Group, showcasing the richness of Konkani art, music and tradition.
Among those present were Directors Mr Andrew D’Souza, Mr J.P. Rodrigues, Mr Roshan D’Souza, Mrs Irene Rebello, Mr David D’Souza, Mr Herold Monteiro, Dr Gerald Pinto, Mr Vincent Lasrado, Mr Melwin Vas, Mr Elroy Kiran Crasta, Mr Sushanth Saldanha and Mr Felix D’Cruz; Deputy General Manager Mr Raj F. Menezes; Advisors, Chief Managers, Senior Managers, members of the staff all of whom participated enthusiastically in the celebration.
Mr Nelson Monis, welcomed and compered the programme while, General Manager Mr Sunil Menezes proposed the vote of thanks.
The celebration stood as a fitting tribute to the recognition of the Konkani language and reaffirmed MCC Bank’s unwavering commitment to preserving the language, culture and heritage of the Konkani community for generations to come.
