St. Peter’s Association (Barkur), Mumbai Celebrates Patronal Feast with Faith, Fellowship and Recognition
ಮುಂಬೈ, ಜುಲೈ 5, 2026: 1988 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಾಪನೆಯಾದ ಮುಂಬೈನ ಸೇಂಟ್ ಪೀಟರ್ಸ್ ಅಸೋಸಿಯೇಷನ್ (ಬಾರ್ಕೂರ್) ಸದಸ್ಯರು, ಮುಂಬೈನ ಅಂಧೇರಿಯ (ಪೂರ್ವ) ಮರೋಲ್ನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಸೇಂಟ್ ಜಾನ್ ಸುವಾರ್ತಾಬೋಧಕ ಚರ್ಚ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇಂಟ್ ಪೀಟರ್ ಅವರ ಪೋಷಕ ಹಬ್ಬವನ್ನು ಸಂತೋಷದಿಂದ ಆಚರಿಸಿದರು, ಬಾರ್ಕುರಿನವರು ಮತ್ತು ಅವರ ಕುಟುಂಬಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆ, ಏಕತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆಯ ವಾತಾವರಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಟ್ಟುಗೂಡಿಸಿದರು.
ಊರಿನಿಂದ ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಮುಂಬಯಲ್ಲಿನ ಬಾರ್ಕುರಿಯನ್ನರಿಗೆ, ಇದು ಬಹಳ ಹಿಂದಿನಿಂದಲೂ ಅನುಸರಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯವಾಗಿದೆ, ಜೂನ್ 29 ರಂದು ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ ಬಾರ್ಕುರ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ನಾಮಸೂಚಕ ಹಬ್ಬವನ್ನು ಎಲ್ಲಾ ವೈಭವ ಮತ್ತು ದೈವತ್ವದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಮತ್ತು ನಂತರದ ಭಾನುವಾರ ಪ್ರಪಂಚದಾದ್ಯಂತ ನೆಲೆಸಿರುವ ಬಾರ್ಕುರಿಯನ್ನರು – ಮುಂಬೈ, ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಯುಎಇ, ಯುಎಸ್ಎ ಇತ್ಯಾದಿಗಳು ತಮ್ಮ ಪೋಷಕರಿಗೆ ಧನ್ಯವಾದ ಹೇಳಲು ಮತ್ತು ತಮ್ಮ ಬಾಲ್ಯದ ನೆನಪುಗಳನ್ನು ಹಂಚಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಒಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ಸೇರುತ್ತಾರೆ…
ಜಾಯ್ಲನ್ ಫೆರ್ನಾಂಡಿಸ್ ಅವರ ಆತ್ಮೀಯ ಪರಿಚಯದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಆಚರಣೆ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಯಿತು, ಹಬ್ಬದ ಸಭೆಗೆ ಧ್ವನಿಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿಸಿತು. ಇದರ ನಂತರ ನಿರ್ಮಲಾ ರೆಬೆಲ್ಲೊ ನೇತೃತ್ವದ ಸೇಂಟ್ ಪೀಟರ್ ನೊವೆನಾ ಪಠಣದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಅರ್ಥಪೂರ್ಣ ಭಕ್ತಿ ಅಧಿವೇಶನ ನಡೆಯಿತು. ಇವಾನ್ ಸುವಾರಿಸ್ ಮತ್ತು ತಂಡದ ನೇತೃತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ‘ಸಾಂತ್ ಪೆದ್ರು ಮೊಗಳಾ’ ಎಂಬ ಸಾಂಪ್ರದಾಯಿಕ ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಸ್ತುತಿಗೀತೆಯನ್ನು ಹಾಡುತ್ತಾ, ಸಭೆಯು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇರಿಕೊಂಡು, ಇವಾನ್ ಸುವಾರಿಸ್ ಮತ್ತು ತಂಡದ ನೇತೃತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸಿದರು.
ಬಾರ್ಕುರಿಯನ್ ಧರ್ಮಗುರು ವಂ। ಡಾ। ಐವೊನ್ ಡಿ’ಅಲ್ಮೇಡಾ, ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಎರಿಕ್ ಎಲ್. ಕಾರ್ವಾಲ್ಹೋ, ಮಾಜಿ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರು, ಉಪಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರು ಮತ್ತು ಪದಾಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಗಣ್ಯರನ್ನು ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರೋಕ್ತವಾಗಿ ವೇದಿಕೆಗೆ ಕರೆದೊಯ್ಯಲಾಯಿತು.
ಸಭೆಯನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾಗತಿಸಿದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಎರಿಕ್ ಕಾರ್ವಾಲ್ಹೋ, ಮಹಾನಗರದ ವಿವಿಧ ಭಾಗಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ಭಾರೀ ಮಳೆ, ಪ್ರವಾಹವನ್ನು ಸಹ ಲೆಕ್ಕಿಸದೆ ಸದಸ್ಯರು ಉತ್ಸಾಹದಿಂದ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ್ದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಂತೋಷ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದರು ಮತ್ತು ಮುಂಬೈನಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಿಸುವ ಬಾರ್ಕುರಿಯನ್ನರಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೀಮಂತ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ, ಆಧ್ಯಾತ್ಮಿಕ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಬಂಧಗಳನ್ನು ಸಂರಕ್ಷಿಸುವ ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ಒತ್ತಿ ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ಆಚರಣೆಯ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಅಂಶಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದಾದ ‘ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ವಿತರಣೆ’, ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಘದ ಪ್ರತಿಭಾನ್ವಿತ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ನಗದು ಬಹುಮಾನ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಮಾಣಪತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ನೀಡಿ ಗೌರವಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಖಜಾಂಚಿ ವಿನ್ಸೆಂಟ್ ಫುರ್ಟಾಡೊ ಅರ್ಹ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿ ಫಲಾನುಭವಿಗಳ ಹೆಸರುಗಳನ್ನು ಘೋಷಿಸಿದರು, ಆದರೆ ಗಣ್ಯ ಸದಸ್ಯರು ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರದಾನ ಮಾಡಿದರು, ಯುವ ಪೀಳಿಗೆ ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠತೆಗಾಗಿ ಶ್ರಮಿಸಲು ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹಿಸಿದರು.
ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿ ಆರ್ಥರ್ ಮೆಂಡೋನ್ಕಾ ಅವರು ಸಂಘದ ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಸದಸ್ಯರಿಗೆ ವಿವರಿಸಿದರು ಮತ್ತು ಭವಿಷ್ಯದ ಯೋಜನೆಗಳನ್ನು, ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ಮುಂಬರುವ ‘2028 ರಲ್ಲಿ ರೂಬಿ ಜುಬಿಲಿ’ಯನ್ನು ವಿವರಿಸಿದರು, ಇದು ಏಕತೆ, ಸಮುದಾಯ ಸೇವೆ ಮತ್ತು ಯುವ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸುವಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಬಲಪಡಿಸುವ ಗುರಿಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದೆ.
ಸಂಘವು ತನ್ನ ಪ್ರತಿಭಾನ್ವಿತ ಸದಸ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬರಾದ ಜಾಯ್ಲನ್ ಫೆರ್ನಾಂಡಿಸ್ ಅವರನ್ನು ಕ್ರೀಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿನ ಅತ್ಯುತ್ತಮ ಸಾಧನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸಿ ಗೌರವಿಸಿತು. ಉಪಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಜಾನ್ ಗೊನ್ಸಾಲ್ವೆಸ್ ಪರಿಚಯಿಸಿದ ಈ ಸನ್ಮಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ರೆವರೆಂಡ್ ಫಾದರ್ ಐವೊನ್ ಡಿ’ಅಲ್ಮೇಡಾ ಅವರಿಂದ ಸ್ಮರಣಿಕೆ ಪ್ರದಾನ, ಬೋನಿಫೇಸ್ ಸಿಕ್ವೇರಾ ಅವರಿಂದ ಸಾಂಪ್ರದಾಯಿಕ ಶಾಲು ಮತ್ತು ಮಾಜಿ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ಫೆಲಿಕ್ಸ್ ಬಾರ್ನ್ಸ್ ಅವರಿಂದ ಪುಷ್ಪಗುಚ್ಛವನ್ನು ನೀಡಲಾಯಿತು. ಸಭೆಯು ಅವರ ಸಾಧನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಬಹಳ ಹೆಮ್ಮೆಯಿಂದ ಶ್ಲಾಘಿಸಿತು.
ಧನ್ಯವಾದಗಳನ್ನು ಅರ್ಪಿಸುತ್ತಾ, ಉಪಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ವಿಲ್ಫ್ರೆಡ್ ಸಿಕ್ವೇರಾ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಅತಿಥಿ, ಪದಾಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು, ದಾನಿಗಳು, ಸ್ವಯಂಸೇವಕರು, ಸದಸ್ಯರು ಮತ್ತು ಆಚರಣೆಯ ಯಶಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ಸಹಕರಿಸಿದ ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಪ್ರಾಮಾಣಿಕ ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆಯನ್ನು ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದರು.
ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಉದ್ಯಮಿಗಳಾದ ಹ್ಯಾರಿ ಬುಥೆಲ್ಲೊ ಮತ್ತು ಕ್ಲೆಮೆಂಟ್ ಲೋಬೊ, ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಗಾಯಕ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಗೀತ ಸಂಘಟಕ, ಮಾಧ್ಯಮ ಮಿತ್ರ ರೋನ್ಸ್ ಬಂಟ್ವಾಳ ಮತ್ತು ಗೋವಾದ ಬಾರ್ಕೂರು ಮೂಲದ ಹೋಲಿ ಕ್ರಾಸ್ ಸಹೋದರಿ, ಸೀನಿಯರ್ ಜ್ಯೋತಿ ಡಿ’ಅಲ್ಮೇಡಾ ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದರು.
ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವು ಅನೋಲಾ ಮಾರ್ಟಿಸ್ ನೇತೃತ್ವದ ಉತ್ಸಾಹಭರಿತ ಮನರಂಜನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಫೆಲೋಶಿಪ್ ಮತ್ತು ಹಬ್ಬದ ಸಂತೋಷದ ಹಂಚಿಕೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮುಕ್ತಾಯವಾಯಿತು, ಇದು ಹಾಜರಿದ್ದ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬ ಸದಸ್ಯರಿಗೂ ಪೋಷಕ ಹಬ್ಬವನ್ನು ಸ್ಮರಣೀಯ ಸಂದರ್ಭವನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿತು.
1988 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಾಪನೆಯಾದಾಗಿನಿಂದ, ಸೇಂಟ್ ಪೀಟರ್ಸ್ ಅಸೋಸಿಯೇಷನ್ (ಬಾರ್ಕೂರು), ಮುಂಬೈ, ಮುಂಬೈನ ಬಾರ್ಕೂರು ಸಮುದಾಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನಂಬಿಕೆ, ಏಕತೆ, ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಪರಂಪರೆಯನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಸಲು ಬದ್ಧವಾಗಿದೆ.
ಪೋಷಕ ಅಥವಾ ಟೈಟುಲರ್ ಹಬ್ಬವು ಮತ್ತೊಮ್ಮೆ ಈ ಪಾಲಿಸಬೇಕಾದ ಮೌಲ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿಬಿಂಬಿಸುತ್ತದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಅದರ ಸದಸ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ನೇಹ ಮತ್ತು ಭ್ರಾತೃತ್ವದ ಬಂಧಗಳನ್ನು ಬಲಪಡಿಸಿತು.

Mumbai, July 5, 2026: The members of St. Peter’s Association (Barkur), Mumbai, established in 1988, joyfully celebrated the Patronal Feast of St. Peter at St. John Evangelist Church, Marol, Andheri (East), Mumbai, bringing together Barkurians and their families in an atmosphere of prayer, unity and gratitude.
Home away from home, for all Barkurians, it’s a long followed traditions, the Titular Feast is celebrated on 29th June in historical Barkur with all pomp and divinity and on following Sunday Barkurians settled across the globe – Mumbai, Banglore UAE, USA etc join together to thank their patron and share their childhood memories…
The celebration commenced with a warm introduction by Joylan Fernandes, setting the tone for the festive gathering. This was followed by a meaningful devotional session with the recitation of the St. Peter Novena led by Nirmala Rebello. The congregation prayerfully joined in singing the traditional Konkani hymn ‘San Pedru Mogala’ led by Ivan Suaris and team, invoking the blessings of their heavenly patron.
The dignitaries, including the native Barkurian Priest Rev. Dr. Ivon D’Almeida, President Eric L. Carvalho, former Presidents, Vice Presidents and office bearers were ceremoniously escorted to the dais.
Welcoming the gathering, President Eric Carvalho expressed his joy at the enthusiastic participation of members daring the heavy rain, even floods in the morning in different parts of the metropolis and emphasized the importance of preserving the rich cultural, spiritual and social bonds among Barkurians living in Mumbai.
One of the highlights of the celebration was the ‘Educational Awards Distribution’, where meritorious students of the Association were honoured with cash prizes and certificates. Treasurer Vincent Furtado announced the names of the deserving student beneficiaries, while distinguished members presented the awards, encouraging the younger generation to strive for academic excellence.
Secretary Arthur Mendonca briefed the members on the Association’s current activities and outlined future plans, especially the forthcoming ‘Ruby Jubilee in 2028’, aimed at strengthening unity, community service and youth participation.
The Association further honoured one of its talented members, Joylan Fernandes, in recognition of his outstanding achievements in sports. Introduced by Vice President John Gonsalves, the felicitation included the presentation of a memento by Rev. Fr. Ivon D’Almeida, a traditional shawl by Boniface Sequeira, and a bouquet by Felix Barnes – former Presidents.The gathering applauded his achievements with great pride.
Delivering the vote of thanks, Vice President Wilfred Sequeira expressed sincere gratitude to the chief guest, office bearers, donors, volunteers, members and all those who contributed to the success of the celebration.
Prominent businessmen Harry Buthello and Clement Lobo, also known Konkani Singer cum Musical Organizer, Media personality Rons Bantwal and Barkur origin Holy Cross sister from Goa, Sr. Jyothi D’Almeida were present.
The programme concluded with lively entertainment led by Anola Martis and fellowship and the sharing of festive joy, making the Patronal Feast a memorable occasion for every member present.
Since its establishment in 1988, St. Peter’s Association (Barkur), Mumbai has remained committed to fostering faith, unity, educational encouragement and cultural heritage among the Barkur community in Mumbai.
The Patronal or Titular Feast once again reflected these cherished values and strengthened the bonds of friendship and fraternity among its members.
