Milagres Cathedral unveils and inagurates the logo ‘2026 – Year of the Poor
ಉಡುಪಿ, ಜನವರಿ 4: ಉಡುಪಿ ಡಯಾಸಿಸ್ನ ಕಲ್ಯಾಣಪುರದ ಮಿಲಾಗ್ರಿಸ್ ಕ್ಯಾಥೆಡ್ರಲ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಜನವರಿ 2026 ರ ಭಾನುವಾರದಂದು ದ್ವಿಉತ್ಸವ ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಭಗವಂತನ ಎಪಿಫ್ಯಾನಿ ಹಬ್ಬದ ಆಚರಣೆ ಮತ್ತು “2026 – ಬಡವರ ವರ್ಷ”, ‘ಪೋಪ್ ಲಿಯೋ XIV ರ ಮೊದಲ ಅಪೋಸ್ಟೋಲಿಕ್ ಉಪದೇಶ, ಡಿಲೆಕ್ಸಿ ಟೆ (ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ)’ ಲೋಗೋ ಉದ್ಘಾಟನೆ.
ಯೂಕರಿಸ್ಟಿಕ್ ಪವಿತ್ರ ಬಲಿಪೂಜೆ ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ 8 ಗಂಟೆಗೆ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಗುವ ಮೊದಲು, ಉಡುಪಿ ಡಯಾಸಿಸ್ನ ವಿಕಾರ್ ಜನರಲ್, ಮಿಲಾಗ್ರಿಸ್ ಕ್ಯಾಥೆಡ್ರಲ್ನ ರೆಕ್ಟರ್, ವೆರಿ ರೆವ್ ಮಿಸ್ಜಿಆರ್ ಫರ್ಡಿನಾಂಡ್ ಗೊನ್ಸಾಲ್ವೆಸ್ 2026 – ಬಡವರ ಮತ್ತು ನಿರ್ಗತಿಕರ ವರ್ಷದ ಉಡುಪಿ ಡಯೋಸಿಸನ್ ಲೋಗೋವನ್ನು ಅನಾವರಣಗೊಳಿಸಿದರು. ಈ ಮಧ್ಯೆ, ಕ್ಯಾಥೆಡ್ರಲ್ನ ಬಲಿಪೀಠದ ಮುಂದೆ ದೀಪ ಬೆಳಗಿಸುವ ಮೂಲಕ 2026 – ಬಡವರ ವರ್ಷವನ್ನು ಕ್ಯಾಥೆಡ್ರಲ್ನ ಸಹಾಯಕ ಪ್ಯಾರಿಷ್ ಪಾದ್ರಿ ರೆವ್ ಫಾದರ್ ಪ್ರದೀಪ್ ಕಾರ್ಡೋಜ ಅವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಉದ್ಘಾಟಿಸಿದರು. ಬಳ್ಳಾರಿ ಡಯಾಸಿಸ್ನ ಅವರ್ ಲೇಡಿ ಆಫ್ ಗುಡ್ ಹೆಲ್ತ್ನ ಪ್ಯಾರಿಷ್ ಫಾದರ್ ಮೆಲ್ವಿನ್ ಬೇಸಿಲ್ ಪಿಂಟೊ, ಪ್ಯಾರಿಷ್ ಪ್ಯಾಸ್ಟೋರಲ್ ಕೌನ್ಸಿಲ್ನ ಉಪಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷೆ ಮತ್ತು ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿ ಯುಜೀನ್ ರೆಬೆಲ್ಲೊ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ಯಾರಿಷ್ ಪ್ಯಾಸ್ಟೋರಲ್ ಆಯೋಗಗಳ ಸಂಯೋಜಕಿ ಪ್ರೇಮಾ ಲೆವಿಸ್.
ಭಗವಂತನ ಎಪಿಫ್ಯಾನಿ ಹಬ್ಬವು ವೆರಿ ರೆವರೆಂಡ್ ಮೊನ್ಸಿಂಝ್ಞೊರ್ ಫರ್ಡಿನಾಂಡ್ ಗೊನ್ಸಾಲ್ವೆಸ್ ಮತ್ತು ಬಳ್ಳಾರಿ ಡಯಾಸಿಸ್ನ ರೆವರೆಂಡ್ ಫಾದರ್ ಮೆಲ್ವಿನ್ ಬೇಸಿಲ್ ಪಿಂಟೊ ಅವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಪವಿತ್ರ ಯೂಕರಿಸ್ಟಿಕ್ ಬಲಿದಾನವನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸಿತು.

ಪೋಪ್ ಲಿಯೋ XIV ರ ಮೊದಲ ಅಪೋಸ್ತೋಲಿಕ್ ಉಪದೇಶ, ಡಿಲೆಕ್ಸಿ ಟೆ (“ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ”) ಅನ್ನು ಅಕ್ಟೋಬರ್ 9 ರಂದು, ಸೇಂಟ್ ಜಾನ್ ಹೆನ್ರಿ ನ್ಯೂಮನ್ ಅವರ ಹಬ್ಬದ ದಿನವಾಗಿ ಘೋಷಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಡಿಲೆಕ್ಸಿ ಟೆ ಬಡವರ ಮೇಲಿನ ಪ್ರೀತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಕಾಳಜಿಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ. ಅಪೋಸ್ತೋಲಿಕ್ ಉಪದೇಶವನ್ನು ‘ಬಡವರ ಮೇಲಿನ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕ್ರೈಸ್ತರಿಗೆ’ ಎಂದು ಸಂಬೋಧಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಧರ್ಮಗ್ರಂಥ, ಚರ್ಚ್ ಬೋಧನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂತರ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯ ಮಸೂರದ ಮೂಲಕ ವಿಷಯವನ್ನು ಪರಿಶೋಧಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಧರ್ಮಗ್ರಂಥವನ್ನು ಬಳಸಿಕೊಂಡು, ಡಿಲೆಕ್ಸಿ ಟೆ ಬಡವರ ಕಡೆಗೆ ಕರುಣೆ ಮತ್ತು ನ್ಯಾಯವನ್ನು ಹಳೆಯ ಮತ್ತು ಹೊಸ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತೋರಿಸಿರುವಂತೆ ಅನ್ವೇಷಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ; ಯೇಸು ಮನುಷ್ಯನಾಗಲು ತನ್ನನ್ನು ತಾನು ತಗ್ಗಿಸಿಕೊಂಡದ್ದು; ಅವನ ಬಡತನ; ಮತ್ತು ಕೊನೆಯ ತೀರ್ಪಿನ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಅವನ ಸ್ವಂತ ಮಾತುಗಳು, ಕರುಣೆಯ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸುವುದು ಮತ್ತು ನಾವು ನಮ್ಮಂತೆಯೇ ನಮ್ಮ ನೆರೆಹೊರೆಯವರನ್ನು ಹೇಗೆ ಪ್ರೀತಿಸಬೇಕು.

ಕ್ಯಾಥೆಡ್ರಲ್ನ ICYM ಮತ್ತು YCS ಸದಸ್ಯರು ಸಾಮೂಹಿಕ ಗಾಯನದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಯನ್ನು ನಡೆಸಿದರು.

Udupi, Jan. 4 : Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur of Udupi diocese observed dual occasions today on Sunday, January 2026 that celebration of feast of Epiphany of the Lord and other the inauguration of logo “2026-the year of poor”, ‘Pope Leo XIV’s first apostolic exhortation, Dilexi Te(I have loved you)’.
Prior to Eucharistic Holy mass began at 8 am, Very Rev Msgr. Ferdinand Gonsalves, Vicar General of Udupi diocese, Rector of Milagres Cathedral unveiled the Udupi Diocesan logo of 2026 – year of the poor and needy. Meanwhile, Msgr Ferdinand Gonsalves inaugurated 2026 – the year of the poor with lighting the lamp in front of Cathedral altar along with Rev Fr. Pradeep Cardoza, Asst. parish priest of the Cathedral, Rev Fr. Melwyn Basil Pinto, MSIJ, Parish Priest of Our Lady of Good Health, Diocese of Bellary, Melwyn Sequiera, Vice President and Eugene Rebello Secretary of Parish Pastoral Council and Prema Lewis, Coordinator of Parish Pastoral Commissions.
The feast of Epiphany of the Lord celebrated the Holy Eucharistic mass by Very Rev Msgr. Ferdinand Gonsalves along with Rev Fr. Melwyn Basil Pinto, MSIJ, diocese of Bellary.
In his homily, Msgr. Ferdinand Gonsalves said on the observation of the feast of Epiphany of the Lord and diocesan inauguration of ‘2026 – Year of Poor and Needy’. He said that the feast of Epiphany lifts our eyes from the family celebrations and demands that we should include in our vision all the ends of the earth. It demands that, like the three wise men, we should have the courage to follow the light of the star we have seen, however hazardous the journey; that the light of our faith, like that of the wise men, should be so strong that we are able to see and recognize our Lord and Ruler in however unexpected a way He may present Himself to us, and that having recognized Him, we should bow down and adore Him, offering Him our total loyalty. Moreover, Epiphany demands that like these kings we should return to our own countries a different way, carrying to all those we meet the light of Christ. It is clear how much the feast of Epiphany must mean to all who are engaged in the apostolate and are striving to extend the Kingdom of Christ.
Pope Leo XIV’s first apostolic exhortation, Dilexi Te(“I have loved you”), was promulgated Oct 9, the feast day of St John Henry Newman. Dilexi Te is about love and care for the poor. The Apostolic exhortation is addressed ‘to all Christians in love for the poor’, and explores the topic through the lens of Scripture, church teaching and the witness of the saints. Using Scripture, Dilexi Te explores mercy and justice toward the poor as shown in both the Old and New Testaments; Jesus’ humbling of himself to become man; his poverty; and his own words on the last judgment, performing works of mercy and how we are to love our neighbor as ourselves.
All over the world, Society of Vincent de Paul which was founded by Blessed Fredrick Ozanam and St Vincent de Paul helping the poor, offering person-to-person aid, spiritual support and community projects aiming to combat poverty and foster justice with Christian Charity. The core mission has been to provide practical, person to person help and address the root causes of poverty inspired by Gospel values. Members embrace works of charity and justice, seeing the face of Christ in those they serve, regardless of background.
The liturgy was conducted by the ICYM and YCS members of the Cathedral along with a beautiful choir of the mass.
Rev Fr. Pradeep Cardoza, compared the inauguration proceedings to the unveiling of logo ‘2026 year of poor’. At the end after weekly announcements, Msgr. Ferdinand Gonsalves released the logo of ‘Milagres Milan’ to be held on January 11, which will be sponsored by the firgent of the Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur annual parish feast. During the release of the logo and invitations, Wilson Fernandes and Leena Fernandes, firgent of the annual feast, Parish Pastoral council vice president Melwyn Sequiera, Secretary Eugene Rebello and Coordinator of parish pastoral commissions were present
