ಕಲ್ಯಾಣಪುರದ ಮಿಲಾಗ್ರಿಸ್ ಕಾಲೇಜು ಆಗಸ್ಟ್ 29, 2025 ರಂದು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿ ಕಲ್ಯಾಣ ಮಂಡಳಿಯ (SWC) 2025-26 ರ ಹೂಡಿಕೆ ಸಮಾರಂಭ ಮತ್ತು 32 ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಸಮರ್ಪಿತ ಸೇವೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದ ಗೌರವಾನ್ವಿತ ಅಧ್ಯಾಪಕ ಸದಸ್ಯ ಪ್ರೊ. ಜಯರಾಮ್ ಶೆಟ್ಟಿಗಾರ್ ಅವರ ಬೀಳ್ಕೊಡುಗೆ ಸಮಾರಂಭವನ್ನು ಒಟ್ಟುಗೂಡಿಸಿ ಭವ್ಯವಾದ ಉಭಯ ಆಚರಣೆಯನ್ನು ಆಯೋಜಿಸಿತು. ಮಿಲಾಗ್ರಿಸ್ ಟ್ರೈ-ಸೆಂಟೆನರಿ ಹಾಲ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದ ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವು ಉತ್ಸಾಹ, ಗೌರವ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂತೋಷದಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿತ್ತು. ಉತ್ಸಾಹಭರಿತ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿ ಪ್ರೇಕ್ಷಕರ ಹರ್ಷೋದ್ಗಾರಗಳ ನಡುವೆ ಎನ್ಸಿಸಿ ಕೆಡೆಟ್ಗಳು ಗಣ್ಯರನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆದೊಯ್ಯುವುದರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸಮಾರಂಭ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಯಿತು. ಕಾಲೇಜು ಗಾಯಕವೃಂದದ ಸುಮಧುರ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನಾ ಗೀತೆಯು ದೈವಿಕ ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದವನ್ನು ಕೋರಿತು.
SWC ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕರು ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಸುಷ್ಮಾ ಎ. ಶೆಟ್ಟಿ ಮತ್ತು ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ರಾಧಿಕಾ ಪಾಟ್ಕರ್ ಗಣ್ಯರನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾಗತಿಸಿದರು, ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಶೆಟ್ಟಿ ಅವರು ಆತ್ಮೀಯ ಸ್ವಾಗತ ಭಾಷಣ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲ ಡಾ. ವಿನ್ಸೆಂಟ್ ಆಳ್ವಾ ಪ್ರಮಾಣ ವಚನ ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸಿದರು, ಮತ್ತು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷೆ ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ನಿಲೋಫರ್ ತರಗತಿ ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಅದೇ ರೀತಿ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ಮುಖ್ಯ ಅತಿಥಿಯಾಗಿ 1991-94 (ಬಿ.ಕಾಂ) ಬ್ಯಾಚ್ನ ಹಳೆಯ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿ, ಹಣಕಾಸು ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕ ಮತ್ತು ಕಾರ್ಯತಂತ್ರ, ಗುಣಮಟ್ಟ ಮತ್ತು ಆಡಳಿತದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರ ಸಹಾಯಕ ಪ್ರೊ. ಇಕ್ಬಾಲ್ ಥೋನ್ಸೆ ಹವಾಲ್ದಾರ್ ಅವರು SWC 2025-26 ಅನ್ನು ದೀಪ ಬೆಳಗಿಸುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಉದ್ಘಾಟಿಸಿದರು. ಅವರು ಪರಿಶ್ರಮ ಮತ್ತು ಸವಾಲುಗಳನ್ನು ಜಯಿಸುವ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಸ್ಪೂರ್ತಿದಾಯಕ ಭಾಷಣವನ್ನು ಹಂಚಿಕೊಂಡರು, ತಮ್ಮದೇ ಆದ ಜೀವನ ಉದಾಹರಣೆಗಳನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿ ತೋರಿಸಿದರು.
ಪ್ರೊ. ಹವಾಲ್ದಾರ್ ಅವರು ತಿಂಗಳಿಗೆ ₹2300 ಸಂಬಳದೊಂದಿಗೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಬೋಧನಾ ವೃತ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಹೇಗೆ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿದರು ಮತ್ತು ಈಗ ಅದರ 300 ಪಟ್ಟು ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಗಳಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂಬುದರ ಕುರಿತು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು, ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಆರಂಭಗಳು ಸಣ್ಣದಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಗುತ್ತವೆ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಒತ್ತಿ ಹೇಳಿದರು. ದುರ್ಬಲ ಆರ್ಥಿಕ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಿಂದಾಗಿ ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಹೋರಾಟಗಳನ್ನು ಸಹ ಹಂಚಿಕೊಂಡರು ಮತ್ತು ಅವರ ಬೆಂಬಲ ಮತ್ತು ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕರು ಮತ್ತು ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರಿಗೆ ಧನ್ಯವಾದಗಳನ್ನು ಅರ್ಪಿಸಿದರು. ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ವೈಯಕ್ತಿಕ ಸಾಧನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿ ತೋರಿಸಿದರು, ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ 34 ನೇ ವಯಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಹಣಕಾಸು ವಿಭಾಗದ ಕಿರಿಯ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯುವುದು ಮತ್ತು 31 ನೇ ವಯಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ “ಷೇರು ಮಾರುಕಟ್ಟೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ದಕ್ಷತೆ” ಕುರಿತು 100 ಕ್ಕೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಸಂಶೋಧನಾ ಪ್ರಬಂಧಗಳನ್ನು ಅಂತರರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ನಿಯತಕಾಲಿಕಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.
ಪ್ರೊ. ಜಯರಾಮ್ ಶೆಟ್ಟಿಗಾರ್ ಅವರ ಬೀಳ್ಕೊಡುಗೆ ಸಮಾರಂಭವು ಹೃತ್ಪೂರ್ವಕವಾಗಿತ್ತು, ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಭೂಮಿಕಾ ಮೇಸ್ತಾ (ಅಂತಿಮ ಬಿಎ), ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಪೂರ್ಣಿಮಾ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲ ಡಾ. ವಿನ್ಸೆಂಟ್ ಆಳ್ವಾ ಅವರ ಗೌರವಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಅವರ ಸಮರ್ಪಣೆ ಮತ್ತು ಪರಂಪರೆಯನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿ ತೋರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಪ್ರೊ. ಶೆಟ್ಟಿಗಾರ್ ಅವರ ಬೀಳ್ಕೊಡುಗೆ ಭಾಷಣವು ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಹಾಸ್ಯದಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿತ್ತು, ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ, ಸಹೋದ್ಯೋಗಿಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಧನ್ಯವಾದಗಳನ್ನು ಅರ್ಪಿಸಿದರು. ಅವರು ಎರಡು ಘಟನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಉಲ್ಲೇಖಿಸಿದರು, ಒಂದು ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಆಫ್ರಿಕಾದ ಛಾಯಾಗ್ರಾಹಕ ಕೆವಿನ್ ಕಾರ್ಟರ್ ಮತ್ತು ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಹಳೆಯ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿ ಜೆವಿನ್ಸನ್, ಶಿಕ್ಷಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾನವ ಮೌಲ್ಯಗಳ ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ಒತ್ತಿಹೇಳಲು ನೇತ್ರದಾನ ಪ್ರಚಾರ ಅಭಿಯಾನವನ್ನು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿದ, ಶಿಕ್ಷಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾನವ ಮೌಲ್ಯಗಳ ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ಒತ್ತಿಹೇಳಲು.
ವಿ. ರೆವರೆಂಡ್ ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಫರ್ಡಿನ್ಯಾಂಡ್ ಗೊನ್ಸಾಲ್ವೆಸ್ ಅವರ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷೀಯ ಹೇಳಿಕೆಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವು ಮುಕ್ತಾಯವಾಯಿತು, ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ನಾಯಕತ್ವ ಮತ್ತು ಸೇವಾ ಮೌಲ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿಹಿಡಿಯಲು ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹಿಸಿದರು. ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಎಚ್ಚರಿಕೆಯಿಂದ ಆಯೋಜಿಸಿದ್ದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಅವರು SWC ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕರು ಮತ್ತು ಪದಾಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಧನ್ಯವಾದಗಳನ್ನು ಅರ್ಪಿಸಿದರು ಮತ್ತು ಹೊಸದಾಗಿ ಆಯ್ಕೆಯಾದ SWC ಪದಾಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಅಭಿನಂದಿಸಿದರು. ಅವರು ಮಾದಕ ದ್ರವ್ಯ ಸೇವನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಮೊಬೈಲ್ ಫೋನ್ ವ್ಯಸನದ ಅಪಾಯಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಎಚ್ಚರಿಕೆ ನೀಡಿದರು. SWC ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷೆ ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ನಿಲೋಫರ್ ರಿಯಾ ಫೆರ್ನಾಂಡಿಸ್ ಅವರು ಗಣ್ಯರು, ಅಧ್ಯಾಪಕರು ಮತ್ತು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳನ್ನು ಶ್ಲಾಘಿಸಿ ಪ್ರಾಮಾಣಿಕವಾಗಿ ಧನ್ಯವಾದಗಳನ್ನು ಅರ್ಪಿಸಿದರು.

Milagres College in Kallianpur hosted a grand dual celebration on August 29, 2025, combining the Investiture Ceremony of the Students’ Welfare Council (SWC) 2025-26 and the Farewell Ceremony for Prof. Jayram Shettigar, a revered faculty member with 32 years of dedicated service. The event, held at the Milagres Tri-Centenary Hall, was filled with enthusiasm, reverence, and joy. The ceremony began with NCC cadets escorting dignitaries into the venue amidst cheers from the excited student audience. A melodious prayer song by the college choir invoked divine blessings, setting a solemn tone.
SWC Directors Mrs. Sushma A. Shetty and Mrs. Radhika Patkar welcomed the dignitaries, with Mrs. Shetty delivering a warm welcome speech. Principal Dr. Vincent Alva administered the oath-taking ceremony, and Students President Ms. Nilofer followed suit for the class representatives. Chief Guest Prof. Iqbal Thonse Hawaldar, an alumnus of the 1991-94 (B.Com) batch, Professor of Finance, and President’s Assistant for Strategy, Quality & Governance, inaugurated the SWC 2025-26 by lighting the lamp. He shared an inspiring speech about perseverance and overcoming challenges, highlighting his own life examples.
Prof. Hawaldar spoke about how he started his teaching profession with a salary of ₹2300 per month and is now earning more than 300 times that amount, emphasizing that all beginnings start small. He also shared his struggles due to a weak economic condition and thanked his professors and teachers for their support and guidance. He highlighted his personal achievements, including being awarded the youngest Professor of Finance at 34 and completing his PhD on “Informational Efficiency in Stock Market” at 31, with over 100 research papers published in international journals.
The farewell ceremony for Prof. Jayram Shettigar was heartfelt, with tributes from Ms. Bhoomika Mesta( Final BA), Mrs. Poornima, and Principal Dr. Vincent Alva, highlighting his dedication and legacy. Prof. Shettigar’s farewell speech was filled with gratitude and humor, thanking the institution, colleagues, and students. He quoted two incidents, one of Kevin Carter, a South African photojournalist, and another of Jewinson, an alumnus who initiated an eye donation promotion campaign, to emphasize the importance of human values in education.
The program concluded with presidential remarks by V. Rev. Msgr. Ferdinand Gonsalves, encouraging students to uphold leadership and service values. He thanked the SWC directors and office bearers for organizing the program meticulously and congratulated the newly elected SWC office bearers. He also warned students about the dangers of substance abuse and mobile phone addiction. SWC President Ms. Nilofer Riya Fernandes delivered a sincere vote of thanks, acknowledging the dignitaries, faculty, and students.
The newly elected Student Welfare Council office bearers are: President – Ms. Nilofar Riya Fernandes (Final BA), Vice President I – Ms. Ankitha (Final B.Com), Vice President II – Mr. Avinash (III BCA), General Secretary – Mr. Lynal Rovin Dsilva (Final BCA), Joint Secretary – Ms. Prathiksha (Final BCA), Sports Secretary – Mr. Sathwik (Final B.Com) and Ms. Bhoomika Mestha (Final BA), and Cultural Secretary – Mr. Ganesh Poojary (Final B.Com).
During the program, guests of honor included Mr. Richard Jeevan Moras, PU Principal, Milagres College Kallianpur, Mr. Melwin Sequera, Secretary Parish Pastoral Council, and Mr. Ganesh Mestha, PTA President. The program was welcomed by Sushma A. Shetty, SWC Director, and smoothly anchored by Mr. Joe Ivan D’Souza ( Final B.Com) and Ms. Shriraksha (Final BCA).
