ಉಡುಪಿ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಕುಂದಾಪುರದ ಕಾರ್ವಾಲೋ ಕುಟುಂಬ (ಫಾದರ್ ಪ್ರತಾಪ್ ನಾಯಕ್ ಎಸ್.ಜೆ. ಅವರ ಕುಟುಂಬ) ಮತ್ತು ‘ಮಾಂಡ್ ಸೊಭಾಣ್’ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯು ಜಂಟಿಯಾಗಿ ನೀಡುವ, ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನ ಕಲೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿನ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠತೆಯನ್ನು ಗೌರವಿಸುವ 22ನೇ ‘ಕಲಾಕಾರ್ ಪುರಸ್ಕಾರ’ವನ್ನು, ಸಂಗೀತಗಾರ, ಸಂಯೋಜಕ ಹಾಗೂ ಕಾರ್ಕಳ ಟೌನ್ ಚರ್ಚ್‌ನ ಧರ್ಮಗುರು (ಪ್ಯಾರಿಷ್ ಪ್ರೀಸ್ಟ್) ರೆವರೆಂಡ್ ಫಾದರ್ ಕ್ಲೆಮೆಂಟ್ ಮಸ್ಕರೇನ್ಹಸ್ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಘೋಷಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.
ಭಕ್ತಿ ಸಂಗೀತ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಅವರು ನೀಡಿರುವ ಅಸಾಧಾರಣ ಕೊಡುಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಗೀತ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಯುವಜನರನ್ನು ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹಿಸಿರುವ ಅವರ ಕಾರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಪರಿಗಣಿಸಿ, ಈ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿಗೆ ಅವರನ್ನು ಆಯ್ಕೆ ಮಾಡಲಾಗಿದೆ.
ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ಪ್ರದಾನ ಸಮಾರಂಭವು 2026ರ ನವೆಂಬರ್ 1, ಭಾನುವಾರದಂದು ಸಂಜೆ 6:00 ಗಂಟೆಗೆ ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಶಕ್ತಿನಗರದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ‘ಕಲಾಂಗಣ’ದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯಲಿದೆ.
ಅಬುಧಾಬಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಲೆಸಿರುವ ಉದ್ಯಮಿ ಮತ್ತು ದಾನಿ ರೊನಾಲ್ಡ್ ಪಿಂಟೋ ಅವರು ಮುಖ್ಯ ಅತಿಥಿಯಾಗಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಗೋವಾದ ಖ್ಯಾತ ಭಾಷಾಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಜ್ಞ ಡಾ. ಪ್ರತಾಪ್ ನಾಯಕ್ ಅವರು ಗೌರವ ಅತಿಥಿಯಾಗಿ ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿರಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಲೂಯಿಸ್ ಜೆ. ಪಿಂಟೋ ಅವರು ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷತೆ ವಹಿಸಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಈ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿಯು ಶಾಲು, ಹಣ್ಣು-ಹೂವುಗಳು, ಸ್ಮರಣಿಕೆ, ಸನ್ಮಾನ ಪತ್ರ ಮತ್ತು ₹50,000 ನಗದು ಬಹುಮಾನವನ್ನು ಒಳಗೊಂಡಿದೆ.
ಧರ್ಮಗುರು, ಶಿಕ್ಷಣತಜ್ಞ, ಸಂಗೀತಗಾರ, ಸಂಯೋಜಕ ಮತ್ತು ಆಡಳಿತಗಾರ ಹೀಗೆ ಬಹುಮುಖ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿತ್ವದ ರೆವರೆಂಡ್ ಫಾದರ್ ಕ್ಲೆಮೆಂಟ್ ಅವರು 1954ರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲ್ಂಬೆಟ್-ಬೋಲಾದಲ್ಲಿ ಜನಿಸಿದರು. 1981ರಲ್ಲಿ ಧರ್ಮಗುರುವಾಗಿ ದೀಕ್ಷೆ ಪಡೆದ ಅವರು, ವಿವಿಧ ಚರ್ಚ್‌ಗಳಲ್ಲಿ (ಪ್ಯಾರಿಷ್‌ಗಳಲ್ಲಿ) ಮತ್ತು ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇವೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಅವರು ನೀಡಿದ ಸೇವೆಯನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸಿ, ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಕನ್ನಡ ಜಿಲ್ಲಾಡಳಿತವು 2005ರಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ ‘ಉತ್ತಮ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ’ ನೀಡಿ ಗೌರವಿಸಿದೆ. ಅವರು ಉಡುಪಿ ಧರ್ಮಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯದ (ಡಯೋಸೀಸ್) ‘ಕ್ಯಾಥೋಲಿಕ್ ಬೋರ್ಡ್ ಆಫ್ ಎಜುಕೇಶನ್’ನ ಮೊದಲ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿಯಾಗಿಯೂ ಸೇವೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ರೆವರೆಂಡ್ ಫಾದರ್ ಕ್ಲೆಮೆಂಟ್ ಅವರು 1994ರಲ್ಲಿ ದಿವಂಗತ ರೆವರೆಂಡ್ ಫಾದರ್ ವೆಲೇರಿಯನ್ ಮೆಂಡೋನ್ಸಾ ಅವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿ ಸಂಗೀತ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸಿದರು. ಇವರಿಬ್ಬರ ಜೋಡಿಯನ್ನು ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಸಂಗೀತದ ‘ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮೀಕಾಂತ್-ಪ್ಯಾರೆಲಾಲ್’ ಎಂದು ಪ್ರೀತಿಯಿಂದ ಕರೆಯಲಾಗುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಈ ಜೋಡಿಯು ಒಟ್ಟು 49 ಭಕ್ತಿ ಸಂಗೀತ ಆಲ್ಬಮ್‌ಗಳನ್ನು ಬಿಡುಗಡೆ ಮಾಡಿದೆ. ಫಾದರ್ ವೆಲೇರಿಯನ್ ಅವರ ನಿಧನದ ನಂತರವೂ ತಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗೀತ ಪಯಣವನ್ನು ಮುಂದುವರಿಸಿದ ಫಾದರ್ ಕ್ಲೆಮೆಂಟ್… ಕ್ಲೆಮೆಂಟ್ ಅವರು ಇಲ್ಲಿಯವರೆಗೆ 51 ಆಲ್ಬಮ್‌ಗಳಲ್ಲಿ 500ಕ್ಕೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಹಾಡುಗಳಿಗೆ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ರಚಿಸಿ, ಸಂಗೀತ ಸಂಯೋಜಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಸಂಗೀತ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರ ಕಾರ್ಯವ್ಯಾಪ್ತಿ ಬಹಳ ವಿಸ್ತಾರವಾಗಿದೆ. ತಾವು ಸೇವೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದ ಚರ್ಚ್‌ಗಳಲ್ಲಿ (ಪ್ಯಾರಿಷ್‌ಗಳಲ್ಲಿ) ಗಾಯನ ಪ್ರತಿಭೆಗಳನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸಿ, ಅವರಿಗೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರತಿಭೆಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಿಸಲು ವೇದಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಕಲ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟರು. ಅವರು ಚರ್ಚ್‌ನ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ವಿಧಿವಿಧಾನಗಳಿಗಾಗಿ ಅನೇಕ ಸ್ತುತಿಗೀತೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹಾಗೂ ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ವಿಷಯಗಳ ಕುರಿತಾದ ಹಲವಾರು ಹಾಡುಗಳನ್ನು ರಚಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ; ಇವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವು ಹಿಂದಿ ಭಾಷೆಗೂ ಅನುವಾದಗೊಂಡಿವೆ. ಅವರ ರಚನೆಗಳು ಯೂಟ್ಯೂಬ್ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಜಾಲತಾಣಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವ್ಯಾಪಕವಾಗಿ ಲಭ್ಯವಿವೆ. ಅಲ್ಲದೆ, ಅವರ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನಾ ಗೀತೆಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ನೃತ್ಯ ಗೀತೆಗಳು ಶಾಲೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಯಮಿತವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಿಸಲ್ಪಡುತ್ತವೆ.
ಸನ್ಮಾನ ಸಮಾರಂಭದ ನಂತರ, ‘ಮಾಸಿಕ ರಂಗಭೂಮಿ’ (Mhøynyalli Manchi) ಸರಣಿಯ 299ನೇ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ನಡೆಯಲಿದೆ. ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ ‘ಕಾಮೆಡಿ ಕಂಪನಿ’ (Comedy Company) ತಂಡವು, ನೆಲ್ಲು ಪೆರ್ಮನ್ನೂರ್ ಅವರು ಬರೆದಿರುವ ‘ಮೆಲ್ಯಾಂಚೆ ಉಪಾದ್ರ’ (Mel’lyanche Upadr) ಎಂಬ ಹೊಸ ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ನಾಟಕವನ್ನು ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಿಸಲಿದೆ. ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಕ್ಕೆ ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಉಚಿತ ಪ್ರವೇಶವಿರುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ಆಯೋಜಕರು ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
22nd Kalakar Puraskar Announced for Rev. Fr. Clement Mascarenhas
The 22nd Kalakar Puraskar, awarded jointly by the Carvalho Household of Kundapura, Udupi District (of Fr. Pratap Naik SJ) and Mandd Sobhann to honor excellence in the performing arts, has been announced for musician, composer and Parish Priest of Karkala Town Church, Rev. Fr. Clement Mascarenhas.
He has been chosen for this award in recognition of his exceptional contribution to devotional music and his encouragement of youth in the musical field.
The award ceremony will take place on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at 6:00 PM at Kalaangann, Shaktinagar, Mangaluru.
Non-resident entrepreneur and philanthropist Ronald Pinto, Abu Dhabi will grace the event as the chief guest, with prominent linguist Dr. Pratap Naik, Goa attending as the guest of honor. Louis J. Pinto will preside over the function.
The award comprises a shawl, fruits and flowers, a memento, a citation certificate, and a cash prize of ₹50,000.
A multifaceted personality – priest, educator, musician, composer and administrator Rev. Fr. Clement was born in Kelmbet–Bola in 1954. Ordained into the priesthood in 1981, he has served in various parishes and educational institutions. In recognition of his service to education, the Dakshina Kannada District Administration honored him with the Best Teacher Award in 2005. He also served as the first secretary of the Catholic Board of Education of the Udupi Diocese.
Rev. Fr. Clement entered the music in 1994 in collaboration with the late Rev. Fr. Valerian Mendonca; together, they came to be fondly known as the ‘Laxmikant –
Pyarelal of Konkani music’. The duo released 49 devotional music albums. Continuing his musical journey even after the passing of Fr. Valerian, Fr. Clement has to date penned lyrics and composed music for over 500 songs across 51 albums.
His scope of work in music is extensive. He identified singing talent in the parishes where he served and gave them a platform to perform. He has composed numerous hymns for church liturgies as well as several songs on social themes, some of which have been translated into Hindi. His compositions are widely available across YouTube and social media platforms, and his prayer hymns and dance songs are regularly featured in schools and cultural events.
Following the felicitation ceremony, the 299th program of the Monthly Theatre series (Mhøynyalli Manchi) will take place, featuring the premiere of a new Konkani play, Mel’lyanche Upadr, written by Nellu Permannur and presented by Comedy Company. The organizers have stated that entry is free for all.
