ಸೆಪ್ಟೆಂಬರ್ 8, 2026: ಪೂಜ್ಯ ವರ್ಜಿನ್ ಮೇರಿಯ ಜನನ ಹಬ್ಬವನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಯಿಂದ ಮೊಂತಿ ಉತ್ಸವ ಎಂದು ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ, ಇದನ್ನು ಸೆಪ್ಟೆಂಬರ್ 8, 2026 ರ ಮಂಗಳವಾರದಂದು ಸಂತೆಕಟ್ಟೆ-ಕಲ್ಲಿಯನ್‌ಪುರದ ಮೌಂಟ್ ರೋಸರಿ ಚರ್ಚ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಆಳವಾದ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಉತ್ಸಾಹ, ಸಾಂಪ್ರದಾಯಿಕ ಸಂತೋಷ ಮತ್ತು ಒಗ್ಗಟ್ಟಿನ ಅದ್ಭುತ ಮನೋಭಾವದಿಂದ ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.

ಕರಾವಳಿ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಮತ್ತು ಅದರಾಚೆಗಿನ ಕರಾವಳಿ ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಮಾತನಾಡುವ ಕ್ಯಾಥೋಲಿಕ್ ಸಮುದಾಯದ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಪಾಲಿಸಬೇಕಾದ ಆಚರಣೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದಾದ ಮೊಂತಿ ಉತ್ಸವವು ಹಬ್ಬಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನದಾಗಿದೆ. ಇದು ನಂಬಿಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಕುಟುಂಬ, ಪ್ರಕೃತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆ, ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯ ಮತ್ತು ಬಾಲ್ಯದ ನೆನಪುಗಳ ಸುಂದರ ಸಭೆಯ ಸ್ಥಳವಾಗಿದೆ. ವರ್ಷದಿಂದ ವರ್ಷಕ್ಕೆ, ಹಬ್ಬವು ಪೀಳಿಗೆಗಳನ್ನು ಒಟ್ಟುಗೂಡಿಸುತ್ತದೆ ಮತ್ತು ನಮ್ಮ ಪೂರ್ವಜರು ನೀಡಿದ ಅಮೂಲ್ಯ ಪರಂಪರೆಯನ್ನು ಜೀವಂತವಾಗಿರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

ಇಡೀ ಮೌಂಟ್ ರೋಸರಿ ಚರ್ಚ್ ಆವರಣವು ಹಬ್ಬದ ನೋಟವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿತ್ತು. ಜನಪ್ರಿಯ ರಾಗಗಳನ್ನು ನುಡಿಸುವ ಸಾಂಪ್ರದಾಯಿಕ ಹಿತ್ತಾಳೆ ವಾದ್ಯವೃಂದದ ಪರಿಚಿತ ಧ್ವನಿಯು ಆಹ್ಲಾದಕರವಾದ ಪ್ರಕಾಶಮಾನವಾದ ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆಗೆ ಬಣ್ಣ ಮತ್ತು ಉತ್ಸಾಹವನ್ನು ಸೇರಿಸಿತು ಮತ್ತು ಈ ವಿಶಿಷ್ಟ ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಹಬ್ಬಕ್ಕೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದ ಪದ್ಧತಿಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯಗಳನ್ನು ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ನೆನಪಿಸಿತು.

ಒಂಬತ್ತು ದಿನಗಳ ನೊವೆನಾ ಮತ್ತು ಉತ್ಸಾಹಭರಿತ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಂದ ಸಾಂಪ್ರದಾಯಿಕ ಹೂವುಗಳ ಮಳೆಯ ನಂತರ, ಪ್ಯಾರಿಷಿಯನ್ನರು ಭವ್ಯ ಆಚರಣೆಗಾಗಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಟ್ಟುಗೂಡಿದರು. ಮೌಂಟ್ ರೋಸರಿ ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮ ಪ್ರೌಢಶಾಲೆಯ ಮುಂಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಸುಂದರವಾಗಿ ಅಲಂಕರಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ ವೇದಿಕೆ, ಧ್ವಜಸ್ತಂಭವು ತಾಜಾ ಹೂವುಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಹಬ್ಬದ ಬಂಟಿಂಗ್‌ಗಳಿಂದ ಅಲಂಕರಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ ವರ್ಣರಂಜಿತ ಸೆಟ್ಟಿಂಗ್ ಅನ್ನು ಒದಗಿಸಿತು.

ಪ್ಯಾರಿಷ್ ನಾಯಕರು, ಗುರ್ಕರ್‌ಗಳು, ಸ್ತ್ರೀ ಸಂಘಟನ್ ಮತ್ತು ICYM ಸದಸ್ಯರು ಎಚ್ಚರಿಕೆಯಿಂದ ಜೋಡಿಸಿ ತಂದ ಹೊಸದಾಗಿ ಕೊಯ್ಲು ಮಾಡಿದ ಭತ್ತದ ಕಾಳುಗಳ ಕಟ್ಟುಗಳು ದೇವರ ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದವನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯಲು ಸಿದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದವು.

ನೂರಾರು ಮಕ್ಕಳು ವರ್ಣರಂಜಿತ ಬುಟ್ಟಿಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಹೂವುಗಳಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿದ ಟ್ರೇಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಆಗಮಿಸಿದರು, ಶಿಶು ಮೇರಿ – ಮಾರಿಯಾ ಬಂಬಿನಾ ಪ್ರತಿಮೆಯ ಮುಂದೆ ಹೂವುಗಳ ಮಳೆಯ ಸಂತೋಷದ ಕ್ಷಣಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಕಾತರದಿಂದ ಕಾಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.

ನಂಬಿಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬೇರೂರಿರುವ ಹಬ್ಬ:

ಮೊಂತಿ ಫೆಸ್ಟ್ ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಕ್ಯಾಥೊಲಿಕರ ಹೃದಯದಲ್ಲಿ, ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ಕರಾವಳಿ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ತನ್ನ ವಿಶೇಷ ಸ್ಥಾನವನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದೆ. ಅನೇಕ ಸಾಂಪ್ರದಾಯಿಕ ಆಚರಣೆಗಳು ಕ್ರಮೇಣ ಔಪಚಾರಿಕ ಅಥವಾ ಕಡಿಮೆ ವಿಸ್ತಾರವಾಗಿ ಮಾರ್ಪಟ್ಟಿದ್ದರೂ ಸಹ, ಮೊಂತಿ ಫೆಸ್ಟ್ ಕುಟುಂಬಗಳು, ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಮತ್ತು ಹಿರಿಯರನ್ನು ಒಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಸೆಳೆಯುತ್ತಲೇ ಇದೆ.

ಇದರ ಹೃದಯಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಸರಳವಾದ ಆದರೆ ಆಳವಾದ ಸಂದೇಶವಿದೆ: ‘ಜೀವನದ ಉಡುಗೊರೆಗಾಗಿ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಧನ್ಯವಾದ ಹೇಳಿ, ಭೂಮಿಯ ಫಲಗಳಿಗಾಗಿ ಆತನಿಗೆ ಧನ್ಯವಾದ ಹೇಳಿ, ನಮ್ಮ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು, ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ಹೆಣ್ಣು ಮಗುವನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಸಿ, ಮತ್ತು ಕುಟುಂಬವನ್ನು ದೇವರ ಅಮೂಲ್ಯ ಕೊಡುಗೆಯಾಗಿ ಆಚರಿಸಿ’ – ಪ್ಯಾರಿಷ್ ಪಾದ್ರಿ ರೆವರೆಂಡ್ ಡಾ. ರೋಕ್ ಡಿಸೋಜಾ ತಮ್ಮ ಪರಿಚಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಳಿದರು…

ಹೊಸ ಸುಗ್ಗಿಯ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ಯಾರಿಷ್ ಕುಟುಂಬಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ದೇವರ ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದವನ್ನು ಕೋರುವ ಗಂಭೀರ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಆಚರಣೆ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಯಿತು. ಪ್ಯಾರಿಷ್ ಪಾದ್ರಿ ರೆವರೆಂಡ್ ಡಾ. ರೋಕ್ ಡಿಸೋಜಾ, ಸಹಾಯಕ ವಿಕಾರ್ ರೆವರೆಂಡ್ ಫಾದರ್ ರೋಹನ್ ಮಸ್ಕರೆನ್ಹಸ್, ಬಲಿಪೀಠದ ಸೇವಕರು ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ಯಾರಿಷ್ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ನಾಯಕರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಕೃತಜ್ಞತಾ ಸಮಾರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಷ್ಠಾವಂತರನ್ನು ಮುನ್ನಡೆಸಿದರು.

ಹೂವುಗಳು, ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಮತ್ತು ಮಾರಿಯಾ ಬಂಬಿನಾ:
ಆಚರಣೆಯ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಹೃದಯಸ್ಪರ್ಶಿ ದೃಶ್ಯವೆಂದರೆ ನಿಸ್ಸಂದೇಹವಾಗಿ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಸಭೆ. ಚಿಕ್ಕ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಂದ ಹಿಡಿದು ಪ್ರೌಢಶಾಲಾ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳವರೆಗೆ, ಅವರು ಸುಂದರವಾಗಿ ಧರಿಸಿ, ಹೂವುಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊತ್ತುಕೊಂಡು ಮುಗ್ಧ ಉತ್ಸಾಹದಿಂದ “ಮೊರಿಯೆಕ್ ಹೊಗೊಲ್ಸಿಯನ್” ಎಂಬ ಹಾಡನ್ನು ಹಾಡಿದರು….

ಸಾಂಪ್ರದಾಯಿಕ ಹಿತ್ತಾಳೆ ವಾದ್ಯವೃಂದದ ನೇತೃತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ, ಸಭೆಯು ವರ್ಣರಂಜಿತ ಮೆರವಣಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಚರ್ಚ್ ಕಡೆಗೆ ಸಾಗಿತು. ಸ್ತ್ರೀ ಸಂಘಟನ್ ಸದಸ್ಯರು ಹೂವಿನ ಬುಟ್ಟಿಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊತ್ತೊಯ್ದರು, ಆದರೆ ಯುವಕರು ಮತ್ತು ಸುಂದರ ಪುರುಷರು ಶಿಶು ಮೇರಿಯ ಪ್ರತಿಮೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿರುವ ಸುಂದರವಾಗಿ ಅಲಂಕರಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ ಫಾಲ್ಕಿನ್ ಅನ್ನು ಭಕ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಹೊತ್ತೊಯ್ದರು.

ಸುಂದರವಾಗಿ ಅಲಂಕರಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ ಮತ್ತು ವಿಶಾಲವಾದ ಮೌಂಟ್ ರೋಸರಿ ಚರ್ಚ್ ಶೀಘ್ರದಲ್ಲೇ ತುಂಬಿ ತುಳುಕಿತು, ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆ, ಹಾಡು ಮತ್ತು ಭಕ್ತಿಯ ನಿಜವಾದ ಸ್ಮರಣೀಯ ವಾತಾವರಣವನ್ನು ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸಿತು.

ಮೊಂತಿ ಫೆಸ್ಟ್‌ನ ನಾಲ್ಕು ಪಟ್ಟು ಸಂದೇಶ:
ಚರ್ಚ್‌ನ ಗಾಯಕವೃಂದವು “ಐಲ್ಯವ್ಮ್ ಸೋಮ್ಯಾ ತುಜೆ ಭೋಂಠಿ…” ಎಂಬ ಪ್ರವೇಶ ಗೀತೆಯನ್ನು ಎತ್ತುತ್ತಿದ್ದಂತೆ, ಹಬ್ಬದ ಹೈ ಮಾಸ್ ಗಂಭೀರತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಭಕ್ತಿಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಯಿತು. ಮುಖ್ಯ ಆಚರಣೆಕಾರ, ಸಹಾಯಕ ಪ್ಯಾರಿಷ್ ಪಾದ್ರಿ ರೆವರೆಂಡ್ ಫಾದರ್ ರೋಹನ್ ಮಸ್ಕರೇನ್ಹಸ್.

ದೇವರ ವಾಕ್ಯವನ್ನು ಉಸಿರುಗಟ್ಟಿಸುತ್ತಾ, ತಮ್ಮ ಧರ್ಮೋಪದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ, “ಮೊಂತಿ ಫೆಸ್ಟ್” ನ ನಾಲ್ಕು ಪಟ್ಟು ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ಸುಂದರವಾಗಿ ಹೊರತಂದರು.

ಮೊದಲನೆಯದು – ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆ:
ಮನುಕುಲದ ರಕ್ಷಕನಾದ ಯೇಸು ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ತಾಯಿಯಾಗಲು ದೇವರು ಆರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡ ತಾಯಿ ಮೇರಿಯ ಜನನದಲ್ಲಿ ನಾವು ಸಂತೋಷಪಡುತ್ತೇವೆ. ಆಕೆಯ ಜನನವು ಭರವಸೆ ಮತ್ತು ಮೋಕ್ಷದ ಉದಯವನ್ನು ಸಾರುತ್ತದೆ.

ಎರಡನೆಯದು – ಪ್ರಕೃತಿಯ ಔದಾರ್ಯಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆ:

ಹೊಸ ಜೋಳದ ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದವು ಭೂಮಿಯ ಫಲಗಳಿಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ದೇವರ ಪ್ರಾವಿಡೆನ್ಸ್‌ಗೆ ವಿನಮ್ರ ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆಯಾಗಿದೆ. ನಮ್ಮ ದೈನಂದಿನ ಬ್ರೆಡ್ ನಮ್ಮ ಮೇಜುಗಳನ್ನು ತಲುಪುವ ನಮ್ಮ ಕೃಷಿ ಸಮುದಾಯದ ಕಠಿಣ ಪರಿಶ್ರಮ ಮತ್ತು ತ್ಯಾಗಗಳನ್ನು ನೆನಪಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಶಂಸಿಸುವ ಸಂದರ್ಭವೂ ಆಗಿದೆ.

ಮೂರನೆಯದು – ಹೆಣ್ಣು ಮಗುವಿಗೆ ಗೌರವ ಮತ್ತು ಗೌರವ:

ಮೇರಿಯ ಜನನವು ಪ್ರತಿ ಹೆಣ್ಣು ಮಗುವಿನ ಘನತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಅಮೂಲ್ಯತೆಯನ್ನು ನಮಗೆ ನೆನಪಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಹೆಣ್ಣುಮಕ್ಕಳು ಕೇವಲ ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಸದಸ್ಯರಲ್ಲ; ಅವರು ಮನೆಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಸಮಾಜಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರೀತಿ, ಮೃದುತ್ವ ಮತ್ತು ಶಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ತರುವ ದೇವರ ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಮೊಂತಿ ಫೆಸ್ಟ್ ಪ್ರತಿ ಹೆಣ್ಣು ಮಗುವನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಸಲು, ಗೌರವಿಸಲು, ರಕ್ಷಿಸಲು ಮತ್ತು ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ನೀಡಲು ಒಂದು ಸುಂದರವಾದ ಸಂದೇಶವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದೆ.

ನಾಲ್ಕನೆಯದು – ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಹಬ್ಬ:

ಎಲ್ಲಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ, ಮೊಂತಿ ಫೆಸ್ಟ್ ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಹಬ್ಬವಾಗಿದೆ. ಇದು ಪೋಷಕರು, ಮಕ್ಕಳು, ಅಜ್ಜಿಯರು, ಸಂಬಂಧಿಕರು ಮತ್ತು ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರನ್ನು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಟ್ಟುಗೂಡಿಸುತ್ತದೆ, ಧನ್ಯವಾದಗಳು.ಕುಟುಂಬಗಳು ಮೇಜಿನ ಸುತ್ತಲೂ ಒಟ್ಟುಗೂಡುತ್ತಾರೆ, ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸಿದ ಹೊಸ ಜೋಳವನ್ನು ಹಂಚಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ ಮತ್ತು ಮನೆಯನ್ನು ನಿಜವಾಗಿಯೂ ಅರ್ಥಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿಸುವ ಬಂಧಗಳನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.

ನವೆಂಬರ್ – ಪ್ರತಿ ಕುಟುಂಬವು ಹಂಚಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದ:

ಥ್ಯಾಂಕ್ಸ್ಗಿವಿಂಗ್ ಯೂಕರಿಸ್ಟ್ ನಂತರ, ಉದ್ಯಾವರದಿಂದ ತಂದ ಹೊಸದಾಗಿ ಕೊಯ್ಲು ಮಾಡಿದ ಮತ್ತು ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸಿದ ಭತ್ತದ ಜೋಳ – ನವಂ ಅನ್ನು ನಿಷ್ಠಾವಂತರಿಗೆ ಭಕ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ವಿತರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಪಾಯಸ ಮತ್ತು ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಕಬ್ಬನ್ನು ಬಡಿಸಲಾಯಿತು, ಇದು ಹಬ್ಬದ ಸಂತೋಷವನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಿತು.

ಮಕ್ಕಳು, ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ, ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಸಂತೋಷದ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸುವವರಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಗುಡಿಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಸಿಹಿತಿಂಡಿಗಳಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿದ ಅವರ ವಿಶೇಷ ಉಡುಗೊರೆ ಹ್ಯಾಂಪರ್‌ಗಳು ಯುವ ಮುಖಗಳಿಗೆ ನಗು ಮತ್ತು ಉತ್ಸಾಹವನ್ನು ತಂದವು.

ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಅರ್ಥದಲ್ಲಿ, ಅವರಿಗೆ, ಮೊಂತಿ ಹಬ್ಬವು ಕೇವಲ ನೋಡಬೇಕಾದ ವಿಷಯವಲ್ಲ – ಇದು ಅನುಭವಿಸಬೇಕಾದ, ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಬೇಕಾದ ಮತ್ತು ನೆನಪಿಡುವ ವಿಷಯ.

ಫಾದರ್ ರೋಹನ್ ಮಸ್ಕರೇನ್ಹಸ್, ಪ್ಯಾರಿಷ್ ಪ್ಯಾಸ್ಟೋರಲ್ ಕೌನ್ಸಿಲ್, ಗುರ್ಕರ್ಸ್, ಎಸ್‌ಆರ್‌ಎ ಸಿಸ್ಟರ್ಸ್ ಮತ್ತು ಸುಪೀರಿಯರ್, ಸ್ತ್ರೀ ಸಂಘಟನ್, ಐಸಿವೈಎಂ/ವೈಸಿಎಸ್, ಆಲ್ಟರ್ ಸರ್ವರ್ಸ್, ಕ್ಯಾಥೋಲಿಕ್ ಸಭಾ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ಯಾರಿಷ್‌ನ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳು ನೀಡಿದ ಸಹಕಾರ ಮತ್ತು ಸಮನ್ವಯಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರಾಮಾಣಿಕ ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆಯನ್ನು ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದರು.

ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಜೊವಿತಾ ಫೆರ್ನಾಂಡಿಸ್ ನೇತೃತ್ವದ ಚರ್ಚ್ ಗಾಯಕವೃಂದದ ಸಮರ್ಪಿತ ಸೇವೆಯನ್ನು ಅವರು ಶ್ಲಾಘಿಸಿದರು, ಅವರ ಮಧುರ ಕೊಡುಗೆ ಇಂದು ಒಂಬತ್ತು ದಿನಗಳ ನೊವೆನಾ ಮತ್ತು ಉತ್ಸವ ಆಚರಣೆಗಳನ್ನು ಶ್ರೀಮಂತಗೊಳಿಸಿತು….

ಅಲಂಕಾರ, ಹಿತ್ತಾಳೆ ಬ್ಯಾಂಡ್, ಕಬ್ಬು ಮತ್ತು ಇತರ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಗಳನ್ನು ಒಳಗೊಂಡಂತೆ ಹಬ್ಬದ ಆಚರಣೆಗೆ ಉದಾರ ಕೊಡುಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ವಿಸ್ತಾರವಾದ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಗಳಿಗಾಗಿ ಸೇಂಟ್ ಜೋಸೆಫ್ ವಾರ್ಡ್‌ನ ದಿವಂಗತ ಎಡ್ವಿನ್ ಎಲಿಯಾಸ್ ಮತ್ತು ಜೆಸ್ಸಿ ಸಲ್ಡಾನ್ಹಾ ಅವರ ಪಿರ್ಜೆಂತ್ ಕುಟುಂಬಕ್ಕೂ ವಿಶೇಷ ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆಯನ್ನು ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಮೆಚ್ಚುಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ಗೌರವದ ಸಂಕೇತವಾಗಿ ಅಲಂಕರಿಸಿದ ಮೇಣದಬತ್ತಿಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಅವರ ಕೊಡುಗೆಯನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸಲಾಯಿತು, ಆದರೆ ಪವಿತ್ರ ಬಲಿದಾನದ ನಂತರ ಉಪಹಾರಗಳಿಗೂ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಲಾಯಿತು.

ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಸೇರುವ ಹಬ್ಬ:

ಮೊಂತಿ ಫೆಸ್ಟ್ ಬಹುಶಃ ಯಾವುದೇ ಇತರ ಹಬ್ಬಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿದೆ.

ಸುಮಾರು ಹತ್ತು ದಿನಗಳಿಂದ, ಅವರು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಗೋಚರವಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಕ್ರಿಯರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ – ಹೂವುಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊತ್ತುಕೊಂಡು, ಮಾರಿಯಾ ಬಂಬಿನಾ ಅವರ ಮುಂದೆ ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಸುರಿಸುತ್ತಾ, ಮರಿಯನ್ ಸ್ತೋತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಹಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಮತ್ತು ನೊವೆನಾದಲ್ಲಿ ಉತ್ಸಾಹದಿಂದ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಬಾಲ್ಯವು ಮೊಬೈಲ್ ಫೋನ್‌ಗಳು, ಕಂಪ್ಯೂಟರ್‌ಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಡಿಜಿಟಲ್ ಪರದೆಗಳಿಂದ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಆಕ್ರಮಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿರುವ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ, ಮೊಂತಿ ಫೆಸ್ಟ್ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಅದ್ಭುತವಾದ ನೈಜತೆಯನ್ನು ನೀಡುತ್ತದೆ: ‘ಅವರ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೂವುಗಳು, ಅವರ ತುಟಿಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಸ್ತೋತ್ರಗಳು, ಅವರ ಹೃದಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಂಬಿಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಅವರ ಸುತ್ತಲಿನ ಕುಟುಂಬ’.

ಮತ್ತು ಹಿರಿಯರಿಗೆ, ಇದು ನೆನಪುಗಳ ನಿಧಿಯನ್ನು ಜಾಗೃತಗೊಳಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

ಪರಿಚಿತ ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಸ್ತೋತ್ರಗಳು –

—ಸೆಪ್ಟೆಂಬರ್ ಎಂದರೆ ಹೂವುಗಳು, ನವಮ್, ಕುಟುಂಬ ಕೂಟಗಳು, ಸಣ್ಣ ಉಡುಗೊರೆಗಳು, ಚಾಕೊಲೇಟ್‌ಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ನೊವೆನಾದ ಮರುದಿನಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಕಾಯುವ ಉತ್ಸಾಹ ಎಂದರ್ಥವಾಗಿದ್ದ ಬಾಲ್ಯದ ನೆನಪುಗಳನ್ನು ಮರಳಿ ತರುತ್ತದೆ.

ಬಹುಶಃ ಅದು ಮೊಂತಿ ಫೆಸ್ಟ್‌ನ ವಿಶೇಷ ಮ್ಯಾಜಿಕ್. ಇದು ನಮಗೆ ಮತ್ತೆ ಮಕ್ಕಳಾಗಲು ಅನುವು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಡುತ್ತದೆ.

ಸೆಪ್ಟೆಂಬರ್ ಮತ್ತೆ ಬರುವವರೆಗೆ… ಆಚರಣೆಗಳು ಅಂತಿಮ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಗಳು, ನವಮ್ ಹಂಚಿಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಸ್ತುತಿಗೀತೆಗಳ ಕೊನೆಯ ಸ್ವರಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಕೊನೆಗೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದು, ಆದರೆ ಮೊಂತಿ ಫೆಸ್ಟ್‌ನ ಚೈತನ್ಯವು ಪ್ರತಿ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲೂ ಉಳಿಯುತ್ತದೆ.

ಇದು ಕುಟುಂಬ ಮೇಜಿನ ಬಳಿ ಹಂಚಿಕೊಂಡ ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸಿದ ಹೊಸ ಜೋಳದಲ್ಲಿ, ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಹೊತ್ತೊಯ್ಯುವ ಹೂವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ, ತಾಯಿ ಮೇರಿಯ ಮುಂದೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸುವ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ, ಅಜ್ಜಿಯರ ನೆನಪುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ತು ತಲೆಮಾರುಗಳಿಂದ ಪ್ರಯಾಣಿಸಿದ ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯವನ್ನು ಸಂರಕ್ಷಿಸುವ ಭರವಸೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಉಳಿದಿದೆ.

ಒಂದು ವಾಕ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ, ಮೊಂತಿ ಫೆಸ್ಟ್ ತಾಯಿ ಮೇರಿಯ ಜನನವಾಗಿದೆ.
‘ಇದು ಪ್ರಕೃತಿಯ ಔದಾರ್ಯಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸುವುದು.

ಇದು ಹೆಣ್ಣು ಮಗುವಿನ ಘನತೆಯ ಆಚರಣೆಯಾಗಿದೆ.
ಮತ್ತು ಎಲ್ಲಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ, ಇದು ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಹಬ್ಬ’.

ಹೂವುಗಳನ್ನು ಒಟ್ಟುಗೂಡಿಸಿ ಹಬ್ಬದ ಶಬ್ದಗಳು ನಿಧಾನವಾಗಿ ಮಸುಕಾಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದಂತೆ, ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ದೀರ್ಘ ಕಾಯುವಿಕೆ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ – ಕೇವಲ ಮುಂದಿನ ಹಬ್ಬಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಅಲ್ಲ, ಆದರೆ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಸೆಪ್ಟೆಂಬರ್‌ಗಾಗಿ ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಕ್ಯಾಥೋಲಿಕ್ ಸಮುದಾಯವು ಮತ್ತೊಮ್ಮೆ ಬೇಬಿ ಮೇರಿಯ ಶಾಸನದ ಸುತ್ತಲೂ ಒಟ್ಟುಗೂಡುತ್ತದೆ, ಮರಿಯನ್ ಸ್ತೋತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಧ್ವನಿಯನ್ನು ಎತ್ತುತ್ತದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಅವರ ಹೃದಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಿಸುವ ಪರಂಪರೆಯನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary – Monthi Festh 2026. A; Celebration of Faith, Family, Nature and Konkani Heritage at Mount Rosary Church, Santhekatte–Kallianpur.

8th September 2026: The Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, affectionately celebrated as Monthi Festh, was observed with deep religious fervour, traditional gaiety and a wonderful spirit of togetherness at Mount Rosary Church, Santhekatte–Kallianpur, on Tuesday, 8th September 2026.

One of the most cherished celebrations of the Coastal Konkani-speaking Catholic community in Coastal Karnataka and beyond, Monthi Festh is much more than a feast. It is a beautiful meeting point of faith and family, nature and gratitude, tradition and childhood memories. Year after year, the feast brings generations together and keeps alive a precious heritage handed down by our forefathers.

The entire Mount Rosary Church compound wore a festive appearance. The familiar sound of the traditional brass band, playing popular tunes, added colour and enthusiasm to the pleasent bright morning and reminded everyone of the customs and traditions associated with this unique Konkani feast.

Following the nine days of Novena and the traditional showering of flowers, by enthusiastic children, the parishioners gathered in large numbers for the grand celebration. The beautifully decorated podium in front of the Mount Rosary English Medium High School, flag post provided a colourful setting, adorned with fresh flowers and festive buntings.

The bundles of newly harvested paddy corns, carefully arranged and brought by parish leaders, Gurkars, members of the Stree Sanghatan and ICYM, stood ready to receive the blessings of God.

Hundreds of children arrived with colourful baskets and trays filled with flowers, eagerly waiting for their joyful moment of showering flowers before the statue of Infant Mary – Maria Bambina.

A Feast Rooted in Faith and Culture:
Monthi Festh has retained its special place in the hearts of Konkani Catholics, particularly in the Coastal Karnataka region. Even when many traditional celebrations have gradually become formal or less elaborate, Monthi Festh continues to draw families, children and elders together.
At its heart is a simple but profound message: ‘thank God for the gift of life, thank Him for the fruits of the earth, cherish our children, especially the girl child, and celebrate the family as God’s precious gift’- Parish Priest Rev Dr Roque DSouza observed in his introduction…

The celebration began with solemn prayers invoking God’s blessings upon the new harvest and the families of the parish. Parish Priest Rev. Dr. Roque D’Souza, accompanied by Assistant Vicar Rev. Fr. Rohan Mascarenhas, altar servers and parish laity leaders, led the faithful in prayer and thanksgiving.

Flowers, Children and Maria Bambina:
The most touching sight of the celebration was undoubtedly the large gathering of children. From tiny tots to high-school students, they came dressed beautifully, carrying flowers with innocent enthusiasm as hymn: Moriyek Hogollsian’ resonated with devotion and dedication….

Led by the traditional brass band, the congregation proceeded towards the church in a colourful procession. Members of the Stree Sanghatan carried flower baskets, while the youth and handsome men reverently carried the beautifully decorated Phalkin, housing the statue of Infant Mary.

The beautifully decorated and spacious Mount Rosary Church soon became filled to overflowing, creating a truly memorable atmosphere of prayer, song and devotion.

The Fourfold Message of Monthi Festh:
As the Church Choir raised the entrance hymn, ‘Ailyavm Somya Tuje Bhovnthi…’the Festal High Mass commenced with solemnity and devotion. The main celebrant, assistant parish priest Rev. Fr. Rohan Mascarenhas.
While breatmking the word of God, in his homily, beautifully brought out the fourfold significance of ‘Monthi Festh’.

First – Thanksgiving to God:
We rejoice in the Nativity of Mother Mary, chosen by God to become the Mother of Jesus Christ, the Saviour of mankind. Her birth heralds the dawn of hope and salvation.

Second – Gratitude for Nature’s Bounty:
The blessing of the new corn is a humble thanksgiving for the fruits of the earth and for God’s providence. It is also an occasion to remember and appreciate the hard work and sacrifices of our farming community, through whose labour our daily bread reaches our tables.

Third – Honour and Respect for the Girl Child:
The birth of Mary reminds us of the dignity and preciousness of every girl child. Daughters are not merely members of a family; they are blessings from God who bring love, tenderness and strength into homes and society. Monthi Festh therefore carries a beautiful message to love, respect, protect and educate every girl child.

Fourth – The Feast of the Family:
Above all, Monthi Festh is a Feast of the Family. It brings parents, children, grandparents, relatives and friends together in prayer, thanksgiving and fellowship. Families gather around the table, share the blessed new corn and celebrate the bonds that make a home truly meaningful.

Novem – A Blessing Shared by Every Family:
Following the Thanksgiving Eucharist, the newly harvested and blessed rice corn – Novem brought from Udyavara, was reverently distributed among the faithful. Payasam to all and sugar cane for children were served to the gathering, adding to the festal joy.
The children, as always, were the happiest participants. Their special gift hampers filled with goodies and sweets, brought smiles and excitement to young faces.

In every sense, for them, Monthi Festh is not merely something to watch—it is something to experience, participate in and remember.

Parish Priest Extends Festal Greetings:
On the joyous occasion, Parish Priest Rev. Dr. Roque D’Souza extended warm Monthi Festh greetings to all parishioners, including those who could not attend the celebrations and those living away from home, earning their livelihood in different parts of India and abroad.

He expressed his sincere appreciation for the cooperation and coordination extended by the Fr Rohan Mascarenhas, Parish Pastoral Council, Gurkars, SRA Sisters and Superior, Stree Sanghatan, ICYM/YCS, Altar Servers, Catholic Sabha and all pious organisations of the parish.
He also acknowledged the dedicated service of the Church Choir, led by Mrs. Jovita Fernandes, whose melodious contribution enriched the nine days Novena and Festal celebrations today….

A special word of appreciation was also extended to the Pirjenth Family of Late Edwin Elias and Jessie Saldanha, St Joseph Ward for their generous contribution and elaborate arrangements towards the festal celebration, including decoration, brass band, sugarcane and other arrangements. Their contribution was acknowledged with a decorated candle as a mark of appreciation and respect, while arrangements were also made for refreshments following the Holy Mass.

A Feast That Belongs to Children:
Monthi Festh perhaps belongs to children more than any other feast.
For nearly ten days, they have been visible and active in the liturgy—carrying flowers, showering them before Maria Bambina, singing Marian hymns and participating enthusiastically in the Novena. At a time when childhood is increasingly occupied by mobile phones, computers and digital screens, Monthi Festh gives children something wonderfully real: ‘flowers in their hands, hymns on their lips, faith in their hearts and family around them’.
And for the elders, it awakens a treasure chest of memories.

The familiar Konkani hymns—
“Sakkad Sangatha Melyan, Sakkad Lagin Soryan”
and
“Moriyek Hogolsiyan”
—bring back memories of childhood, when September meant flowers, Novem, family gatherings, tiny gifts, chocolates and the excitement of waiting for the next day of the Novena.
Perhaps that is the special magic of Monthi Festh. It allows us to become children again.

Until September Comes Again…
The celebrations may conclude with the final prayers, the sharing of Novem and the last notes of the Konkani hymns, but the spirit of Monthi Festh remains in every home.

It remains in the blessed new corn shared at the family table, in the flowers carried by children, in the prayers offered before Mother Mary, in the memories of grandparents, and in the promise to preserve a tradition that has travelled across generations.

In one sentence, Monthi Festh is the Nativity of Mother Mary.
‘It is thanksgiving for Nature’s Bounty.
It is a celebration of the dignity of the Girl Child.
And above all, it is the Feast of the Family’.

As the flowers are gathered and the festive sounds slowly fade away, there begins another long wait—not merely for the next feast, but for another September when the Konkani Catholic community will once again gather around Baby Mary’s statute, raise their voices in Marian hymns and celebrate a heritage that continues to live in their hearts.
