ಸಂತೆಕಟ್ಟೆ-ಕಲ್ಯಾಣಪುರ ಕ್ಯಾಥೊಲಿಕ್ ಸಭಾ, ಮೌಂಟ್ ರೋಸರಿ ಚರ್ಚ್ ಘಟಕವು ಆಗಸ್ಟ್ 30, 2026 ರ ಭಾನುವಾರದಂದು ‘ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಮಾನ್ಯತಾ ಡೀಸ್’ ಅನ್ನು ಸರಳ ಆದರೆ ಆಳವಾದ ಅರ್ಥಪೂರ್ಣ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಚರಿಸಿತು, ಇದು ಸಮುದಾಯದ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯ ಮಾತೃಭಾಷೆಯಾದ ಕೊಂಕಣಿಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಹೆಮ್ಮೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊರಸೂಸಿತು.

ಒಂದು ಸಣ್ಣ ಆದರೆ ಉತ್ಸಾಹಭರಿತ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವು ಆಚರಣೆಗೆ ಮತ್ತಷ್ಟು ಮೆರುಗು ನೀಡಿತು. ಅನುಭವಿ ವಿಲ್ಫಿ ರೆಬಿಂಬಸ್ ಹಾಡುಗಳು ಹಳೆಯ ನೆನಪುಗಳನ್ನು ಮರಳಿ ತಂದವು, ಆದರೆ ರೂಬೆನ್ ರೆಬೆಲ್ಲೊ ಅವರ ಹಾಸ್ಯಗಳು ಸಭಾಂಗಣವನ್ನು ನಗು ಮತ್ತು ಹರ್ಷೋದ್ಗಾರದಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿದವು.
ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನಾ ಗೀತೆ, ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಥೀಮ್ ಸಾಂಗ್, ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಗೀತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಮನರಂಜನಾ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ ಗಾಯಕರ ತಂಡವು ಆಚರಣೆಗೆ ಸೊಬಗು ಮತ್ತು ಚೈತನ್ಯವನ್ನು ಸೇರಿಸಿತು.
ಶ್ರೀ ಪೀಟರ್ ಲೂಯಿಸ್ ಧರಿಸಿದ್ದ ಸಾಂಪ್ರದಾಯಿಕ ಉಡುಪು ಸಹ ವಿಶೇಷ ಉಲ್ಲೇಖಕ್ಕೆ ಅರ್ಹವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಅವರ ವರ್ಣರಂಜಿತ ಸಾಂಪ್ರದಾಯಿಕ ಉಡುಗೆ ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಸಮುದಾಯದ ಶ್ರೀಮಂತ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಪರಂಪರೆಯನ್ನು ಸುಂದರವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರತಿಬಿಂಬಿಸುತ್ತದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಕೇತಿಸುತ್ತದೆ, ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ಮಾಜಿ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಎಲಿಯಾಸ್ ಡಿ’ಸೋಜಾ ಮತ್ತು ಅವರ ತಂಡವು ಇಡೀ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮವಾಗಿ ಸಂಘಟಿಸಿದ್ದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ.
ಹೆಮ್ಮೆ ಮತ್ತು ಬದ್ಧತೆಯ ಆಚರಣೆ:
ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವು ಸಿಎಸ್ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿ ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಮಾರ್ಗರೇಟ್ ಡಿ’ಸೋಜಾ ಅವರು ಧನ್ಯವಾದಗಳನ್ನು ಅರ್ಪಿಸುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಮುಕ್ತಾಯವಾಯಿತು, ನಂತರ ಕ್ಯಾಥೋಲಿಕ್ ಸಭೆಯ ನಿಯಮಿತ ಸಭೆಗಾಗಿ ಮಿನಿ ಹಾಲ್ ಅನ್ನು ಮರುಜೋಡಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
ಪ್ರಮಾಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಧಾರಣವಾಗಿದ್ದರೂ, ಆಚರಣೆಯು ಅರ್ಥಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಇದು ಕೇವಲ ಒಂದು ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನದಾಗಿತ್ತು – ಇದು ಕೊಂಕಣಿಯ ಮೇಲಿನ ಪ್ರೀತಿ, ಅದನ್ನು ಪೂರೈಸಿದವರ ಮೇಲಿನ ಗೌರವ ಮತ್ತು ಅದರ ಭಾಷೆ, ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ, ಕಲೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಯನ್ನು ಭವಿಷ್ಯದ ಪೀಳಿಗೆಗೆ ಸಂರಕ್ಷಿಸುವ ಮತ್ತು ರವಾನಿಸುವ ನವೀಕೃತ ಬದ್ಧತೆಯ ಹೃದಯಪೂರ್ವಕ ಅಭಿವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯಾಗಿತ್ತು.
ಮೌಂಟ್ ರೋಸರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದ ಕ್ಯಾಥೋಲಿಕ್ ಸಭಾ – ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಮಾನ್ಯತಾ ದೀಸ್ 2026, ಮಾತೃಭಾಷೆಯು ಕೇವಲ ಪುಸ್ತಕಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಪದಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅಲ್ಲ, ನಾವು ಪಾಲಿಸುವ ನೆನಪುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ, ನಾವು ಹಾಡುವ ಹಾಡುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ, ನಾವು ಹೇಳುವ ಕಥೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ, ನಾವು ಸಂರಕ್ಷಿಸುವ ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ತು ಎಲ್ಲಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಅದನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಸುವವರ ಹೃದಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಿಸುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ನೆನಪಿಸುವ ಸುಂದರ ಜ್ಞಾಪನೆಯಾಯಿತು.
Konkani Manyata Dees at Mount Rosary A Heartfelt Tribute to Language, Literature & Culture
The Catholic Sabha, Mount Rosary Church Unit, Santhekatte–Kallianpur, celebrated ‘Konkani Manyata Dees’ on Sunday, 30th August 2026, in a simple yet deeply meaningful programme that radiated pride in Konkani—the beloved mother tongue of the community.
Soon after the 8.00 a.m. Holy Mass, an enthusiastic gathering of Konkani-loving parishioners assembled in the Church Mini Hall, beautifully decorated with colourful banners to mark the special occasion. The day began on a warm and joyful note with a fellowship breakfast, providing an opportunity for the participants to meet, greet and share their love for Konkani.
A Prayerful and Colourful Beginning:
The formal stage programme was prayerfully initiated by Mrs. Maria Quadros, retired teacher of the Sabha, who served as the Master of Ceremony. She welcomed the President of Catholic Sabha to lead the proceedings and invited the dignitaries to the dais in a colourful procession, with participants proudly carrying the Konkani Flag.
The dignitaries included Mr. Robert Menezes, Kanajar, seasoned Konkani language teacher and Chief Guest; Rev. Fr. Rohan Mascarenhas, Assistant Parish Priest and inaugurator of the celebration; Mr. Baptist Dias, Vice President; Mrs. Priya Furtado, Secretary of the Parish Pastoral Council; Mr. Valerian Fernandes, Convenor of the 20 Pastoral Commissions; and the office bearers of the Catholic Sabha.
Mr. Archibald Furtado, President of Catholic Sabha, extended a warm and cordial welcome to all present. He expressed his special joy at the presence of several distinguished parish writers, poets and other contributors who have enriched Konkani literature and culture through their talent and dedicated service. The atmosphere became even more vibrant as the Konkani Theme Song filled the hall, evoking a strong sense of pride and belonging.
As a symbolic gesture of respect and honour, Mrs. Margaret D’Souza, Secretary of Catholic Sabha, presented fresh roses to the dignitaries.
Lamp Lighting and a Message for the Younger Generation:
Rev. Fr. Rohan Mascarenhas then lit the traditional lamp, formally declaring the celebration open.
In his insightful message, Fr. Rohan spoke about the need to cultivate a genuine passion and affection for the mother tongue among children and youth. He shared practical and thoughtful suggestions on how Konkani could be popularised among the younger generation, reminding everyone that the future of the language rests largely in the hands of today’s children and young people.
Honouring Seven Proud Bearers of Konkani
Mount Rosary Parish is blessed with a rich variety of talents, and the organisers made it a special point to recognise some of those who have contributed significantly to Konkani language, literature, music and culture.

Brief glimpses of their service, achievements and contributions were presented by the Catholic Sabha office bearers. Each profile brought to light a different dimension of their dedication and love for Konkani.
The audience responded with thunderous applause, acknowledging their talent, sacrifice and sustained commitment to the language and its cultural heritage.
The honourees were felicitated on stage by the priests and dignitaries with a traditional shawl, fresh roses, fruit basket, a book and a memento—a fitting expression of appreciation for their valuable contributions.
Konkani—A Language of Rich Heritage and Constitutional Recognition:
The Chief Guest, Mr. Robert Menezes, a seasoned Konkani language teacher, delivered a comprehensive and highly engaging felicitation address.
He highlighted the richness, diversity and historical greatness of Konkani, while proudly recalling its recognition as one of the 22 official languages of the Indian Constitution.
His marathon and well-researched narration on the growth, development and greatness of Konkani kept the audience completely spellbound. His passionate presentation was both informative and inspiring, reminding the gathering of the immense literary and cultural wealth carried by the language.
Earlier, Ms. Wilma Rego, CS Treasurer, introduced Mr. Menezes to the gathering. She highlighted his distinguished service, his tenure as former President of Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh, and the many awards and honours he has received over the years.
Mr. Menezes was deservedly honoured by Parish Priest Rev. Dr. Roque D’Souza, who presented him with a traditional shawl, memento and bouquet as a mark of appreciation.
In his crisp message, the Vicar congratulated all the awardees and thanked the Chief Guest for his well-researched and enlightening presentation on Konkani.
Celebrating a Living Cultural Heritage:
The Catholic Sabha office bearers presented the brief profiles of the seven writers, musicians and Konkani stalwarts who were honoured. At the same time, they acknowledged that many more parishioners equally deserve recognition and expressed the hope that their contributions too would be honoured in the future.
The gathering also fondly remembered two personalities who have left an unforgettable mark on Konkani culture and music—the late David D’Silva and legendary singer Henry D’Souza. Their contribution and memories continue to remain precious to the Konkani community.
Speaking on behalf of all the honourees, Mrs. Beena Lewis expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Catholic Sabha for its thoughtful initiative and leadership in promoting Konkani language, literature, art and culture. She appreciated the effort to identify and honour local talent and expressed the hope that such initiatives would inspire many more to serve the mother tongue.
Music, Laughter and the Spirit of Konkani:
A short but lively cultural programme added further colour to the celebration. Veteran Wilfy Rebimbus songs brought back nostalgic memories, while Reuben Rebello’s jokes filled the hall with laughter and cheer.
Special appreciation was due to the Choir Team, whose involvement in the prayer hymn, Konkani Theme Song, Konkani Anthem and entertainment programme added grace and vibrancy to the celebration.
The traditional attire worn by Mr. Peter Lewis also deserved special mention. His colourful traditional dress beautifully reflected and symbolised the rich cultural heritage of the Konkani community and specially Mr Elias D’Souza the former President and his team for coordinating the whole event meticulously.
A Celebration of Pride and Commitment:
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mrs. Margaret D’Souza, CS Secretary, after which the Mini Hall was rearranged for the regular meeting of the Catholic Sabha.
Though modest in scale, the celebration was rich in meaning. It was more than a programme—it was a heartfelt expression of love for Konkani, respect for those who have served it, and a renewed commitment to preserve and pass on its language, literature, art and culture to future generations.
At Mount Rosary, Catholic Sabha – Konkani Manyata Dees 2026 became a beautiful reminder that a mother tongue lives not merely in books and words, but in the memories we cherish, the songs we sing, the stories we tell, the traditions we preserve and, above all, in the hearts of those who love it.
