ಮಂಗಳೂರು; ಆಗಸ್ಟ್ 2 ರಂದು ಸಂತ ಕ್ರಿಸ್ಟೋಫರ್ ಚಾಲಕರ ಮತ್ತು ಮ್ಹಾಲಕರ ಅಸೋಸಿಯೇಷನ್ನ 60ನೇ ವಾರ್ಷಿಕ ಮಹಾಸಭೆಯು ಬಹಳ ಭಕ್ತಿ, ಹೆಮ್ಮೆ ಮತ್ತು ಉತ್ಸಾಹದಿಂದ ನಡೆಯಿತು, ಆರು ದಶಕಗಳ ಸಮುದಾಯಕ್ಕೆ ಸಮರ್ಪಿತ ಸೇವೆಯನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಸಂಘವು ತನ್ನ ವಜ್ರಮಹೋತ್ಸವ ವರ್ಷಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾಲಿಟ್ಟಾಗ ಸದಸ್ಯರು, ಹಿತೈಷಿಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಅತಿಥಿಗಳನ್ನು ಒಟ್ಟುಗೂಡಿಸಿತು.
ಆಚರಣೆಯೂ ರೆವರೆಂಡ್ ಫಾದರ್ ವಿಲ್ಫ್ರೆಡ್ ಪ್ರಕಾಶ್ ಡಿ’ಸೋಜಾ ಅವರು ಪವಿತ್ರ ಬಲಿದಾನ ಅರ್ಪಿಸಿ ಅವರು ವಾಹನಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಸಾರಿಗೆ ವೃತ್ತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಿರುವ ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ದೇವರ ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದವನ್ನು ಕೋರಿದರು, ಅವರ ಕುಟುಂಬಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಜೀವನೋಪಾಯಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ದೈವಿಕ ರಕ್ಷಣೆ ಮತ್ತು ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನವನ್ನು ಕೋರಿದರು.

ಶಿಕ್ಷಣದ ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸಿ, ಸಂಘವು ತನ್ನ ಸದಸ್ಯರ ಪ್ರತಿಭಾನ್ವಿತ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಅವರ ಅತ್ಯುತ್ತಮ ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ಸಾಧನೆಗಳಿಗಾಗಿ ಪ್ರತಿಭಾ ಪುರಸ್ಕಾರ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿಗಳನ್ನು ನೀಡಿ ಗೌರವಿಸಿತು. ಅರ್ಹ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿವೇತನವನ್ನು ವಿತರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು, ಇದು ಶಿಕ್ಷಣವನ್ನು ಉತ್ತೇಜಿಸುವ ಮತ್ತು ಯುವ ಸದಸ್ಯರ ಆಕಾಂಕ್ಷೆಗಳನ್ನು ಬೆಂಬಲಿಸುವ ಸಂಘದ ಬದ್ಧತೆಯನ್ನು ಪುನರುಚ್ಚರಿಸಿತು.
ಮುಖ್ಯ ಅತಿಥಿ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಪರಿಸರ ಪ್ರವಾಸೋದ್ಯಮದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷೆ ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಶಾಲೆಟ್ ಪಿಂಟೊ ಅವರು ಸ್ಪೂರ್ತಿದಾಯಕ ಭಾಷಣ ಮಾಡಿದರು, ಬದ್ಧತೆ, ಸಮಗ್ರತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿಯ ಮೌಲ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿಹಿಡಿಯುವಂತೆ ಸದಸ್ಯರನ್ನು ಒತ್ತಾಯಿಸಿದರು. ಆಧ್ಯಾತ್ಮಿಕ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕರು ಮತ್ತು ಸಮಾರಂಭದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ರೆವರೆಂಡ್ ಫಾದರ್ ವಲೇರಿಯನ್ ಡಿಸೋಜಾ ಅವರು ಸಂಘದ ಗಮನಾರ್ಹ ಪ್ರಯಾಣವನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿಬಿಂಬಿಸಿದರು ಮತ್ತು ವರ್ಷಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅದನ್ನು ಮುನ್ನಡೆಸಿದ ನಂಬಿಕೆ, ಏಕತೆ, ಸೇವೆ ಮತ್ತು ಕರುಣೆಯ ಶಾಶ್ವತ ಮೌಲ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಒತ್ತಿ ಹೇಳಿದರು.

ಸಂಘದ ಮಹತ್ವದ ಸೇವಾ ಉಪಕ್ರಮಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಸಮುದಾಯದ ಆರ್ಥಿಕವಾಗಿ ದುರ್ಬಲ ವರ್ಗಗಳ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ವಸತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಬೆಂಬಲವನ್ನು ಒದಗಿಸುವ ಹಾಸ್ಟೆಲ್ನ ನಿರ್ವಹಣೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಇದು ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಕಲ್ಯಾಣ ಮತ್ತು ಸಬಲೀಕರಣಕ್ಕೆ ಅದರ ನಿರಂತರ ಬದ್ಧತೆಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿಬಿಂಬಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

St. Christopher Association holds 60th Annual General Body Meeting, elects new executive committee
Manglore; The 60th Annual General Body Meeting of the St. Christopher Drivers and Owners Association was held with great devotion, pride and enthusiasm on August 2, bringing together members, well-wishers and guests as the Association stepped into its Diamond Jubilee year, celebrating six decades of dedicated service to the community.
The celebrations began with a solemn Holy Mass concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, who also invoked God’s blessings upon the vehicles and all those engaged in the transport profession, seeking divine protection and guidance for their families and livelihoods.
The formal programme commenced with a prayer song, followed by a warm welcome by Association President Dr. John Edward D’Silva, who welcomed the dignitaries, members and guests. Secretary Sunil Peter Lobo presented the annual report, highlighting the Association’s activities and achievements during the year, while Joint Secretary Canute J. Pinto presented the audited financial report for 2025-2026.
Recognising the importance of education, the Association honoured meritorious children of its members with the Pratibha Puraskar awards for their outstanding academic achievements. Educational scholarships were also distributed to deserving students, reaffirming the Association’s commitment to promoting education and supporting the aspirations of young members.
Chief Guest Mrs. Shalet Pinto, Chairperson of Karnataka Eco Tourism, delivered an inspiring address, urging members to uphold the values of commitment, integrity and social responsibility. Spiritual Director and President of the function, Rev. Fr. Valerian D’Souza reflected on the Association’s remarkable journey and emphasised the enduring values of faith, unity, service and compassion that have guided it through the years.
The meeting also witnessed the election of the new Executive Committee for the Diamond Jubilee year. The newly elected office-bearers are Dr. John Edward D’Souza as President, Edward Alwyn Fernandes as Vice President, Canute J. Pinto as Secretary, James J. Madtha as Joint Secretary, and Rev. Fr. Valerian D’Souza as Spiritual Director and Treasurer.
Secretary-elect Canute J. Pinto proposed the vote of thanks, expressing sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the celebration through their wholehearted support and participation. The programme was compered by Nigel Pereira, whose professional anchoring ensured its smooth and graceful conduct.
Established in 1967, the St. Christopher Drivers and Owners Association was founded with the objective of supporting drivers, vehicle owners and their families through fellowship, mutual assistance and community service. Over the years, it has grown into a vibrant organisation dedicated to the welfare of its members while actively promoting educational, social and charitable initiatives.
One of the Association’s significant service initiatives is the management of a hostel that provides accommodation and support to students from economically weaker sections of the community, reflecting its enduring commitment to social welfare and empowerment.
As the Association enters its Diamond Jubilee year, it continues to uphold the ideals of service, unity and compassion envisioned by its founders. The celebrations served as a fitting tribute to its rich legacy and reaffirmed its commitment to serving the community with dedication and purpose for generations to come.
