ಉಡುಪಿಯ ಬಿಷಪ್ ಆಗಿ ಅಧಿಕಾರ ವಹಿಸಿಕೊಂಡ ನಂತರ ಅ।ವಂ। ಡಾ. ಬಿಷಪ್ ಲೆಸ್ಲಿ ಡಿ’ಸೋಜಾ ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಮೊದಲ ಭೇಟಿಯನ್ನು ಮೇ 10, 2026 ರಂದು ಮೌಂಟ್ ರೋಸರಿ ಚರ್ಚ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಸಿದರು. ಅವರು ಈ ಹಿಂದೆ 2017 ರಿಂದ 2022 ರವರೆಗೆ ಮೌಂಟ್ ರೋಸರಿ ಧರ್ಮಕೇಂದ್ರದ ಪ್ರಧಾನ ಧರ್ಮಗುರುಗಳಾಗಿ ಸೇವೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದ್ದ ಅವರನ್ನು ಧರ್ಮಕೇಂದ್ರದವರು ಆತ್ಮೀಯ ಮತ್ತು ಹೃತ್ಪೂರ್ವಕವಾಗಿ ಸ್ವಾಗತಿಸಿದರು.

ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ 7:45 ಕ್ಕೆ ಚರ್ಚ್ ದ್ವಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಷ್ಠಾವಂತರು ಜಮಾಯಿಸಿದರು, ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿಳಿ ಬಟ್ಟೆ ಧರಿಸಿದ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಅವರನ್ನು ಹೂವಿನ ದಳಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸ್ವಾಗತಿಸಿದರು. ಅವರನ್ನು ಧರ್ಮಕೇಂದ್ರದ ಪ್ರಧಾನ ಧರ್ಮಗುರು ವಂ. ಡಾ. ರೋಕ್ ಡಿ’ಸೋಜಾ, ಸಹಾಯಕ ಧರ್ನಗುರು ವಂ. ರೋಹನ್ ಮಸ್ಕರೇನ್ಹಸ್, ಸಿಸ್ಟರ್ ಎಲ್ವೀನಾ ಮತ್ತು ಧರ್ಮಕೇಂದ್ರದ ನಾಯಕರು ಬರಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡರು.

ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ 8:00 ಗಂಟೆಗೆ ಗಂಭೀರವಾದ ಪವಿತ್ರ ಬಲಿದಾನ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಯಿತು, ಈ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿಷಪ್ ಧರ್ಮಕೇಂದ್ರದದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರ ಸೇವೆ ಮತ್ತು ಆಧ್ಯಾತ್ಮಿಕ ಬಂಧವನ್ನು ನೆನಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಸ್ಪೂರ್ತಿದಾಯಕ ಧರ್ಮೋಪದೇಶವನ್ನು ನೀಡಿದರು. ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ 9:10 ಕ್ಕೆ ಬಲಿದಾನ ಮುಕ್ತಾಯವಾಯಿತು, ನಂತರ ಸಂಕ್ಷಿಪ್ತ ಅಭಿನಂದನಾ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ನಡೆಯಿತು, ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ಧರ್ಮಕೇಂದ್ರ ಸಮುದಾಯವು ಗೌರವಿಸಿತು.

ಪ್ರತಿಕ್ರಿಯೆಯಲ್ಲಿ, ಬಿಷಪ್ ಈ ಧರ್ಮಕೇಂದ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ತಮ್ಮ “ಐದು ಅನುಗ್ರಹದಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿದ ವರ್ಷಗಳನ್ನು” ಪ್ರೀತಿಯಿಂದ ನೆನಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡರು ಮತ್ತು ತಮ್ಮ ಹೊಸ ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿಗಾಗಿ ನಿಷ್ಠಾವಂತರ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕೋರಿದರು. ವಿವಿಧ ಸಂಘಗಳ ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ರಚನಾತ್ಮಕ ಸಂವಾದವೂ ನಡೆಯಿತು.

ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಪ್ರಿಯಾ ಫುರ್ಟಾಡೊ ಅವರ ಧನ್ಯವಾದಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವು ಮುಕ್ತಾಯವಾಯಿತು. ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವು ಬಿಷಪ್ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ಯಾರಿಷ್ ನಡುವಿನ ಬಾಂಧವ್ಯವನ್ನು ಬಲಪಡಿಸಿತು, ನಿಷ್ಠಾವಂತರನ್ನು ಆಧ್ಯಾತ್ಮಿಕವಾಗಿ ಶ್ರೀಮಂತಗೊಳಿಸಿತು

Mount Rosary Church witnessed a joyful and grace-filled occasion on Sunday, 10th May 2026, as Rt. Rev. Dr. Leslie C. D’Souza made his maiden visit after assuming office as Bishop of Udupi. The Bishop, who had earlier served as Vicar of the parish from 2017 to 2022, was accorded a warm and heartfelt welcome by parishioners.
Faithful gathered at the church gate at 7:45 a.m., where children dressed in white welcomed him with flower petals. He was received by Parish Priest Rev. Dr. Roque D’Souza, Assistant Priest Rev. Fr. Rohan Mascarenhas, Sr. Elveena, and parish leaders.
A solemn Holy Mass began at 8:00 a.m., during which the Bishop delivered an inspiring homily, recalling his years of service and spiritual bond with the parish. The Eucharist concluded at 9:10 a.m., followed by a brief felicitation programme where he was honoured by the parish community.
In his response, the Bishop fondly remembered his “five grace-filled years” in the parish and sought the prayers of the faithful for his new responsibility. A structured interaction with representatives of various parish associations was also held.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Priya Furtado. The event strengthened the bond between the Bishop and the parish, leaving the faithful spiritually enriched.
