‘Konkani Manyata Dees’ Celebrated by Catholic Sabha at Mount Rosary Church, Santhekatte – Kallianpur.
2025 ರ ಆಗಸ್ಟ್ 24 ರ ಭಾನುವಾರದಂದು, ಸಂತೇಕಟ್ಟೆ ಕಲ್ಯಾಣಪುರ ಮೌಂಟ್ ರೋಸರಿ ಚರ್ಚ್ ಘಟಕದ ಕಥೋಲಿಕ್ ಸಭಾದಿಂದ ‘ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಮಾನ್ಯತಾ ದೀಸ್’ (ದಿನ) ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ಪವಿತ್ರ ಬಲಿದಾನದ ನಂತರ, ಧರ್ಮಕೇಂದ್ರದ ಉತ್ಸಾಹಭರಿತ ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಪ್ರಿಯರು ಚರ್ಚ್ ಮಿನಿ ಹಾಲ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಒಟ್ಟುಗೂಡಿದರು, ಕಥೋಲಿಕ್ ಸಭಾದ ಪದಾಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ಅತಿಥಿಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಸದಸ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಆತ್ಮೀಯ ಸ್ವಾಗತವನ್ನು ನೀಡಿದರು.
ಸಭಾ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ನೇತೃತ್ವ ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದ ಸಭಾದ ಜಂಟಿ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿ ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಪ್ರಮೀಳಾ ಡಿ’ಸೋಜಾ ಅವರು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನಾಪೂರ್ವಕವಾಗಿ ಉದ್ಘಾಟಿಸಿದರು.
ಕ್ಯಾಥೊಲಿಕ್ ಸಭಾದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಆರ್ಚಿಬಾಲ್ಡ್ ಫುರ್ಟಾಡೊ ಅವರು ನೆರೆದಿದ್ದ ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಆತ್ಮೀಯ ಮತ್ತು ಹೃತ್ಪೂರ್ವಕ ಸ್ವಾಗತ ಕೋರಿದರು. ಧರ್ಮಕೇಂದ್ರದ ಅನೇಕ ಬರಹಗಾರರು ಮತ್ತು ಕವಿಗಳು, ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಸಮೃದ್ಧ ಕೊಡುಗೆ ನೀಡಿದ ಪ್ಯಾರಿಷ್ ನಿಯತಕಾಲಿಕೆಯ ಮಾಜಿ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ ಸಂಪಾದಕರು ಅವರ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿರುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವರು ಸಂತೋಷ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದರು. ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಕಡಿಮೆ ಅವಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಆಯೋಜಿಸಲಾಗಿದ್ದರಿಂದ, ಎಲ್ಲರನ್ನೂ ತಲುಪಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗದಿದ್ದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಅವರು ವಿನಮ್ರವಾಗಿ ಕ್ಷಮೆಯಾಚಿಸಿದರು.
ಕ್ಯಾಥೊಲಿಕ್ ಸಭಾದ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿ ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಮಾರ್ಗರೇಟ್ ಡಿಸೋಜಾ ವೇದಿಕೆಯ ಮೇಲಿದ್ದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಗಣ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಗೌರವದ ಸಂಕೇತವಾಗಿ ‘ತಾಜಾ ಗುಲಾಬಿಗಳನ್ನು’ ಅರ್ಪಿಸಿದರು.
ಮುಖ್ಯ ಭಾಷಣವನ್ನು ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧ ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿತ್ವದ ಶ್ರೀ ಜೋ ಕ್ವಾಡ್ರೋಸ್ ಅವರು ಮಾಡಿದರು, ಅವರು ಜನಪ್ರಿಯ ವಿಡಂಬನಾತ್ಮಕ ಸಂಗ್ರಹ ‘ಓಲ್ಡ್ ಮೆನ್ಸ್ ಕ್ಲಬ್’ ನ ಲೇಖಕರು, ಅವರು ನಮ್ಮ ಮಾತೃಭಾಷೆಯ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಭಾರತೀಯ ಸಂವಿಧಾನದ 22 ಅಧಿಕೃತ ಭಾಷೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದಾಗಿ ಅದರ ಮಾನ್ಯತೆಯನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿ ತೋರಿಸಿದರು.
ಗೌರವ ಮತ್ತು ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆಯ ಸಂಕೇತವಾಗಿ, ಪ್ಯಾರಿಷ್ ನಿಯತಕಾಲಿಕೆ ರೋಜಾರಿಚೊ ಗಾಂಚ್ನ ನಾಲ್ವರು ಹಿಂದಿನ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ ಸಂಪಾದಕರು – ಶ್ರೀ ಮೈಕೆಲ್ ಎಸ್. ಮೆಂಡೋಂಕಾ, ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಸಿಂಥಿಯಾ ಡಿ’ಸಿಲ್ವಾ, ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಹಿಲ್ಡಾ ಕಾರ್ನೆಲಿಯೊ ಮತ್ತು ಶ್ರೀ ಆರ್ಚಿಬಾಲ್ಡ್ ಫರ್ಟಾಡೊ – ಅವರನ್ನು ವರ್ಷಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಉದಯೋನ್ಮುಖ ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಬರಹಗಾರರಿಗೆ ಅವರ ಅನುಕರಣೀಯ ಸೇವೆ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಗೌರವಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
ಪ್ಯಾರಿಷ್ ಪ್ರತಿಭೆಯನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸಲು ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹಿಸಲು ವಿಶೇಷ ಸೂಚನೆಯಾಗಿ, ಜೋ ಕ್ವಾಡ್ರೋಸ್, ಮಾರ್ಗರೇಟ್ ಫೆರ್ನಾಂಡಿಸ್, ಫುಕೇರಿಯಾ ಡಿಸೋಜಾ, ಲ್ಯೂಕ್ ಡಿಸೋಜಾ, ತೆರೇಸಾ ಫೆರ್ನಾಂಡಿಸ್ ಎಂಬ ಸಮಿತಿಯಿಂದ ಎಚ್ಚರಿಕೆಯಿಂದ ಆಯ್ಕೆಯಾದ ಐದು ಜನಪ್ರಿಯ ಬರಹಗಾರರನ್ನು ಸಾಂಪ್ರದಾಯಿಕ ಶಾಲು, ಪುಷ್ಪಗುಚ್ಛ, ಸ್ಮರಣಿಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಪುಸ್ತಕಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸನ್ಮಾನಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
ಅವರ ಉತ್ತಮ ಪದಗಳ ಅಭಿನಂದನಾ ಭಾಷಣದಲ್ಲಿ, ರೆವರೆಂಡ್ ಫಾದರ್. ಸಹಾಯಕ ಪ್ಯಾರಿಷ್ ಪಾದ್ರಿ ರೋಹನ್ ಮಸ್ಕರೇನ್ಹಸ್, ಡಯೋಸಿಸನ್ ಮಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಮೆಚ್ಚುಗೆ ಗಳಿಸಿರುವ ಪ್ಯಾರಿಷ್ ನಿಯತಕಾಲಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊರತಂದಿದ್ದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಹಿಂದಿನ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ ಸಂಪಾದಕರು ಮತ್ತು ಅವರ ತಂಡಗಳನ್ನು ಹೃತ್ಪೂರ್ವಕವಾಗಿ ಅಭಿನಂದಿಸಿದರು. ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಭಾಷೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರವರ್ಧಮಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಬರುತ್ತಿದೆ, ಅದರೊಳಗೆ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿ, ಅನುಭವ ಮತ್ತು ಚೈತನ್ಯದ ಶ್ರೀಮಂತ ನಿಧಿಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಹೇಳಿದರು. ಕ್ಯಾಥೊಲಿಕ್ ಸಭಾದ ಈ ಉಪಕ್ರಮವು, ಅವರು ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯಪಟ್ಟಂತೆ, ಇನ್ನೂ ಅನೇಕ ಬರಹಗಾರರು ಮತ್ತು ಕವಿಗಳು ಮುಂದೆ ಬರಲು ಮತ್ತಷ್ಟು ಪ್ರೇರಣೆ ನೀಡುತ್ತದೆ. ‘ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಮಾನ್ಯತಾ ಡೀಸ್’ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಪ್ರತಿಭೆಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹಿಸಲು ಪರಿಪೂರ್ಣ ವೇದಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಒದಗಿಸುವುದರಿಂದ, ಮುಂಬರುವ ವರ್ಷಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯವನ್ನು ಮುಂದುವರಿಸಲು ಅವರು ಸಂಘಟಕರನ್ನು ಒತ್ತಾಯಿಸಿದರು.
ಇದಕ್ಕೂ ಮೊದಲು, ಸಭೆಯ ಖಜಾಂಚಿ ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಮಾರಿಯಾ ವಿಲ್ಮಾ ರೇಗೊ ಅವರು ನಾಲ್ವರು ಗೌರವಾನ್ವಿತ ಸಂಪಾದಕರನ್ನು ಪರಿಚಯಿಸಿದರು, ಆದರೆ ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಹಿಂದೆ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಿದ ಮಾಜಿ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಎಲಿಯಾಸ್ ಡಿಸೋಜಾ, ಪ್ಯಾರಿಷ್ನ ಐದು ಗಣ್ಯ ಬರಹಗಾರರ ನೋಟವನ್ನು ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತಪಡಿಸಿದರು, ಪಟ್ಟಿ ತುಂಬಾ ಉದ್ದವಾಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ಆಯ್ಕೆ ಕಷ್ಟಕರವಾಗಿತ್ತು ಎಂದು ಒಪ್ಪಿಕೊಂಡರು. ಮುಂಬರುವ ವರ್ಷಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಅರ್ಹ ಪ್ರತಿಭೆಗಳನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸಲಾಗುವುದು ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಭರವಸೆ ನೀಡಿದರು.
ಈ ಮನ್ನಣೆ ಪಡೆದವರ ಪರವಾಗಿ, ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಸಿಂಥಿಯಾ ಡಿ’ಸಿಲ್ವಾ, ನಮ್ಮ ಪ್ಯಾರಿಷ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಭಾಷೆ, ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ, ಕಲೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಯನ್ನು ಉತ್ತೇಜಿಸುವಲ್ಲಿ ಕ್ಯಾಥೋಲಿಕ್ ಸಭಾದ ಚಿಂತನಶೀಲ ಉಪಕ್ರಮ ಮತ್ತು ನಿರಂತರ ನಾಯಕತ್ವಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಹೃತ್ಪೂರ್ವಕ ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆಯನ್ನು ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದರು.
ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಪ್ರಮಿಲ್ಲಾ ಡಿ’ಸೋಜಾ ಅವರು ಪ್ರಸ್ತಾಪಿಸಿದ ಧನ್ಯವಾದಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಔಪಚಾರಿಕ ವೇದಿಕೆ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವು ಮುಕ್ತಾಯವಾಯಿತು, ನಂತರ ಕ್ಯಾಥೋಲಿಕ್ ಸಭಾದ ನಿಯಮಿತ ಸಭೆಗಾಗಿ ಸ್ಥಳವನ್ನು ಮರುಜೋಡಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
ಹೀಗೆ, ಮೌಂಟ್ ರೋಸರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದ ‘ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಮಾನ್ಯತಾ ದೀಸ್’ ಆಚರಣೆಯು ಸರಳವಾಗಿದ್ದರೂ, ಹೆಮ್ಮೆ, ಗೌರವ ಮತ್ತು ನಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯ ಮಾತೃಭಾಷೆಯನ್ನು ಪೋಷಿಸಲು ಮತ್ತು ಉತ್ತೇಜಿಸಲು ಬದ್ಧತೆಯ ಶಾಶ್ವತವಾದ ಪ್ರಭಾವ ಬೀರಿತು.

Catholic Sabha, Mount Rosary Church Unit, Santhekatte–Kallianpur, celebrated ‘Konkani Manyata Dees’ with a simple yet meaningful programme on Sunday, 24th August, 2025.
Soon after the 8.00 a.m. Holy Mass, a fairly good number of enthusiastic Konkani-loving parishioners gathered at the Church Mini Hall, which was tastefully adorned with banners to mark the occasion. The office bearers of the Catholic Sabha extended a warm welcome to the guests and members. A sumptuous breakfast shared together set the tone for the day’s celebration.
The stage programme was prayerfully initiated by the Master of Ceremony, Mrs. Pramila D’Souza, Joint Secretary of the Sabha, who invited and escorted the dignitaries – Mr. Joe Quadros, a renowned writer in Konkani, Mr. Luke DSouza Vice President, Mrs. Priya Furtado, Secretary of Parish Pastoral Council, Mrs Rosy Quadros, President CS Kallianpur Deanery along with Office bearers of CS, to the dais.
President of Catholic Sabha, Mr. Archibald Furtado, extended a warm and cordial welcome to all gathered. He expressed his joy in having many distinguished writers and poets of the parish, especially former and present editors of parish magazine, who have contributed richly to Konkani literature, in their midst. He also humbly apologized that, as the event was organized on short notice, it was not possible to reach out to everyone.
Mrs Margaret DSouza, Secretary of Catholic Sabha offered ‘fresh roses’ as a mark of respect to all the dignitaries on the dais.
The keynote address was delivered by the well-known Konkani personality, Mr. Joe Quadros, an author of popular collection of satires ‘Old Men’s Club’, who highlighted the greatness of our mother tongue and its recognition as one among the 22 official languages of the Indian Constitution.
As a mark of respect and gratitude, four past and present editors of the parish magazine Rozaricho Gaanch—Mr. Michael S. Mendonca, Mrs. Cynthia D’Silva, Mrs. Hilda Carnelio, and Mr. Archibald Furtado—were honored for their exemplary service and encouragement to budding Konkani writers over the years.
In a special gesture to recognize and encourage parish talent, Five popular writers, carefully chosen by a panel, Joe Quadros, Margaret Fernandes, Phukeria DSouza, Luke DSouza, Teresa Fernandes, were felicitated with a traditional shawl, bouquet, memento, and books.
In his well-worded felicitation address, Rev. Fr. Rohan Mascarenhas, Assistant Parish Priest, warmly congratulated the past and present editors and their teams for bringing out a parish magazine that has earned appreciation even at the diocesan level. He further noted that Konkani language continues to thrive in our districts, carrying within it a rich treasure of culture, experience, and vitality. This initiative by Catholic Sabha, he opined, would further inspire many more writers and poets to come forward. He urged the organizers to continue this tradition in the coming years, as ‘Konkani Manyata Dees’ provides the perfect platform to encourage literary talents.
Earlier, Mrs. Maria Wilma Rego, Treasurer of the Sabha, introduced the four honored editors, while Mr. Elias D’Souza, former President, the man who worked behind this event, presented a glimpse of the five distinguished writers of the parish, acknowledging that the choice was difficult, as the list was very long. He assured that more deserving talents would be recognized in the coming years.
On behalf of the recipients of this recognition, Mrs. Cynthia D’Silva expressed heartfelt gratitude to Catholic Sabha for its thoughtful initiative and continued leadership in promoting Konkani language, literature, art, and culture in our parish.
The formal stage programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mrs. Pramilla D’Souza, after which the venue was rearranged for the Catholic Sabha’s regular meeting.
Thus, the ‘Konkani Manyata Dees’ celebration at Mount Rosary, though simple, left a lasting impression of pride, respect, and commitment to nurture and promote our beloved mother tongue.
