ಸೆಪ್ಟೆಂಬರ್ 20, 2026 ರಂದು, ICYM ಉಡುಪಿ ಧರ್ಮಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯವು ಆಯೋಜಿಸಿದ್ದ ಧರ್ಮಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯ ಮಟ್ಟದ ಯುವ ಸಮಾವೇಶ ‘ಯುವ ದಬಾಜೊ 2026’ಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಉಡುಪಿ ಧರ್ಮಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯದ ಕ್ಯಾಥೊಲಿಕ್ ಯುವಜನರು ಮೂಡುಬೆಳ್ಳೆಯ ಸಂತ ಲಾರೆನ್ಸ್ ಚರ್ಚ್ ಸಭಾಂಗಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಗ್ಗೂಡಿದರು. ಈ ಸಮಾವೇಶವು ಧರ್ಮಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯದಾದ್ಯಂತದ ಯುವಜನರನ್ನು ಒಂದೆಡೆ ಸೇರಿಸಿ, ನಂಬಿಕೆ, ಸಹಭಾಗಿತ್ವ, ಸೃಜನಶೀಲತೆ, ಪ್ರತಿಭೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಭ್ರಮದ ಅವಿಸ್ಮರಣೀಯ ದಿನವನ್ನಾಗಿಸಿತು.
ಪವಿತ್ರ ಬಲಿಪೂಜೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಅರ್ಥಪೂರ್ಣ ಆರಂಭ
ಉಡುಪಿ ಧರ್ಮಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯದ ಧರ್ಮಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ಅತೀ ವಂದನೀಯ ಡಾ. ಲೆಸ್ಲಿ ಕ್ಲಿಫರ್ಡ್ ಡಿಸೋಜಾ ಅವರ ಮುಖ್ಯ ನೇತೃತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ನೆರವೇರಿದ ಗಂಭೀರ ಹಾಗೂ ಭಕ್ತಿಪೂರ್ಣ ಪವಿತ್ರ ಬಲಿಪೂಜೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ದಿನದ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳು ಆರಂಭಗೊಂಡವು. ಇವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮೂಡುಬೆಳ್ಳೆಯ ಸಂತ ಲಾರೆನ್ಸ್ ಚರ್ಚ್‌ನ ಧರ್ಮಗುರು ವಂದನೀಯ ಜಾರ್ಜ್ ಥಾಮಸ್ ಡಿಸೋಜಾ, ಉಡುಪಿ ಧರ್ಮಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯದ ಯುವಜನ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕ ವಂದನೀಯ ಸ್ಟೀವನ್ ಫರ್ನಾಂಡಿಸ್ ಮತ್ತು ವಂದನೀಯ ಮಿಲ್ಟನ್ ಫರ್ನಾಂಡಿಸ್ ಅವರು ಬಲಿಪೂಜೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾಲ್ಗೊಂಡರು. ತಮ್ಮ ಧರ್ಮೋಪದೇಶದ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ, ಬಿಷಪ್ ಲೆಸ್ಲಿ ಯುವಜನರಿಗೆ ಸ್ಫೂರ್ತಿದಾಯಕ ಸಂದೇಶವೊಂದನ್ನು ನೀಡಿದರು:
“ಯುವಜನರು ಕೇವಲ ಭವಿಷ್ಯವಲ್ಲ, ಬದಲಾಗಿ ಚರ್ಚ್ ಮತ್ತು ಉಡುಪಿ ಧರ್ಮಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯದ ಚೈತನ್ಯಶೀಲ ವರ್ತಮಾನವಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸಕ್ರಿಯ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸುವಿಕೆಯು ನಮ್ಮ ನಂಬಿಕೆಯ ಸಮುದಾಯದ ಜೀವನಾಡಿಯಾಗಿದೆ.”
ಅಧಿಕೃತ ಉದ್ಘಾಟನೆ
ಪವಿತ್ರ ದಿವ್ಯಬಲಿಯ ನಂತರ, ಸಮಾವೇಶವನ್ನು ಅಧಿಕೃತವಾಗಿ ಉದ್ಘಾಟಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಧರ್ಮಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯದ ICYM ಗೀತೆ ಮೊಳಗುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ, ಬಿಷಪ್ ಲೆಸ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ಉಡುಪಿ ಧರ್ಮಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯದ ಚಾನ್ಸಲರ್ ವಂ. ಫಾ. ಸ್ಟೀಫನ್ ಡಿಸೋಜಾ, ಯುವಜನ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕ ವಂ. ಫಾ. ಸ್ಟೀವನ್ ಫರ್ನಾಂಡಿಸ್ ಮತ್ತು ICYM ಉಡುಪಿ ಧರ್ಮಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಆಲ್ಸನ್ ಮಥಿಯಾಸ್ ಅವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿ ICYM ಧ್ವಜವನ್ನು ಹಾರಿಸಿದರು.
ನಂತರ, ‘ಯುವ ದಬಾಜೊ 2026’ (Yuva Dabazo 2026) ಎಂಬ ಸಮಾವೇಶದ ಶೀರ್ಷಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಅನಾವರಣಗೊಳಿಸುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಬಿಷಪ್ ಲೆಸ್ಲಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಅಧಿಕೃತವಾಗಿ ಉದ್ಘಾಟಿಸಿದರು. ದಿನದ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಭಾಷಣಕಾರರಾಗಿ, ಬಿಷಪ್ ಯುವಜನರಿಗೆ ನಾಲ್ಕು ಅರ್ಥಪೂರ್ಣ ಪದಗಳನ್ನು ಹಂಚಿಕೊಂಡರು: “ಪ್ರೀತಿಸಲು ಕರೆಯಲ್ಪಟ್ಟವರು, ಸೇವೆ ಮಾಡಲು ಕಳುಹಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟವರು” (Called to Love, Sent to Serve). ಅವರು ಯುವಜನರು ಪ್ರೀತಿಯಿಂದ ಬಾಳುವಂತೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಚರ್ಚ್ ಮತ್ತು ಸಮಾಜದಲ್ಲಿ ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿಯುತ ಸೇವಕರಾಗುವಂತೆ ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹಿಸಿದರು.
ಉದ್ಘಾಟನೆಯ ನಂತರ, ಧರ್ಮಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯದ ಯುವಜನರಿಗೆ ನೀಡಿದ ನಿರಂತರ ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹ ಮತ್ತು ಬೆಂಬಲಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಬಿಷಪ್ ಲೆಸ್ಲಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ಗೌರವಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಮೂಡುಬೆಳ್ಳೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮಾವೇಶವನ್ನು ಆಯೋಜಿಸಲು ಅವಕಾಶ ನೀಡಿದ್ದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಯಶಸ್ವಿ ಸಂಘಟನೆಗೆ ಅಪಾರ ಬೆಂಬಲ, ಸಮನ್ವಯ ಮತ್ತು ಸೌಲಭ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಒದಗಿಸಿದ್ದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ವಂ. ಫಾ. ಜಾರ್ಜ್ ಥಾಮಸ್ ಡಿಸೋಜಾ ಅವರನ್ನೂ ಗೌರವಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
ರೋಚಕ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳು
ಉದ್ಘಾಟನಾ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ನಂತರ, ವೇದಿಕೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಐದು ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಗಳನ್ನು ನಡೆಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಇವು ಯುವಜನರಿಗೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಸೃಜನಶೀಲತೆ, ಜ್ಞಾನ, ಸಂವಹನ ಕೌಶಲ್ಯ, ತಂಡದ ಕೆಲಸ (teamwork) ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರತಿಭೆಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಿಸಲು ಅವಕಾಶವನ್ನು ಒದಗಿಸಿದವು:

ಮುಖ್ಯ ಸಮಾವೇಶಕ್ಕೂ ಮುನ್ನ, ಎರಡು ಆನ್‌ಲೈನ್ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳನ್ನು ಸಹ ನಡೆಸಲಾಗಿತ್ತು: ‘ಸೇಮ್ ಸೇಮ್ ಬಟ್ ಡಿಫರೆಂಟ್’ (Same Same but Different) – ಇದು ಘಟಕ ಮಟ್ಟದ ಜಾಹೀರಾತು ಮರುಸೃಷ್ಟಿ ಸವಾಲಾಗಿತ್ತು; ಮತ್ತು ‘ಫಿಲ್ಮ್ ರಶ್’ (Film Rush) – ಇದು ಧರ್ಮಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯ ಮಟ್ಟದ ಕಿರುಚಿತ್ರ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಯಾಗಿತ್ತು.
‘ಫಿಲ್ಮ್ ರಶ್’ನ ಭಾಗವಾಗಿ, ಉಡುಪಿ ಧರ್ಮಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಐದು ಡೀನರಿಗಳನ್ನು (ವಲಯಗಳನ್ನು) ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಸುವ ಕಿರುಚಿತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಸೆಪ್ಟೆಂಬರ್ 8, 2026 ರಂದು ‘ಯೂತ್ ಕಮಿಷನ್ ಉಡುಪಿ ಡಯಾಸಿಸ್’ (Youth Commission Udupi Diocese) ಯೂಟ್ಯೂಬ್ ಚಾನೆಲ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆ ಮಾಡಲಾಯಿತು.
ಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನ, ‘ಫಸ್ಟ್ ಗೇರ್ ಬ್ಯಾಂಡ್’ (First Gear Band) ತಮ್ಮ ಕಿರು ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನದ ಮೂಲಕ ಸಭಿಕರನ್ನು ರಂಜಿಸಿತು. ಇದರ ನಂತರ ‘ರಿಥಮ್ ಅಂಡ್ ರೂಟ್ಸ್’ (Rhythm and Roots) ಎಂಬ ಧರ್ಮಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯ ಮಟ್ಟದ ಅಂತರ-ಡೀನರಿ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆ ನಡೆಯಿತು. ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ ನಾಲ್ಕು ಡೀನರಿಗಳು ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದವು. ವೇದಿಕೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ನೇರ ಸಂಗೀತ, ನಾಟಕ, ನೃತ್ಯ, ಮೂಕಾಭಿನಯ ಮತ್ತು ಮಾನವ ರಚನೆಗಳನ್ನೊಳಗೊಂಡ ಉತ್ಸಾಹಭರಿತ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನಗಳು ನಡೆದವು. ಈ ಸೃಜನಶೀಲ ಮತ್ತು ಚೈತನ್ಯಶೀಲ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನಗಳು ಪ್ರೇಕ್ಷಕರನ್ನು ಮಂತ್ರಮುಗ್ಧಗೊಳಿಸಿದವು ಹಾಗೂ ಸಮಾವೇಶದ ಹಬ್ಬದ ವಾತಾವರಣವನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಿದವು.
ಸಮಾರೋಪ ಸಮಾರಂಭ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ಪ್ರದಾನ
ಸಮಾರೋಪ ಸಮಾರಂಭದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷತೆಯನ್ನು ಮೂಡುಬೆಳ್ಳೆಯ ಸಂತ ಲಾರೆನ್ಸ್ ಚರ್ಚ್‌ನ ಸಹಾಯಕ ಧರ್ಮಗುರುಗಳಾದ ರೆವ್. ಫಾ. ಸ್ಟೀಫನ್ ರೋಡ್ರಿಗಸ್ ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಉಡುಪಿ ಧರ್ಮಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯದ ಯುವ ಆಯೋಗದ ಮಾಜಿ ಪ್ರಾದೇಶಿಕ ಖಜಾಂಚಿ ಮತ್ತು ಮಾಜಿ ಸಂಯೋಜಕರಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಬ್ರಯಾನ್ ಅಲ್ಫೋನ್ಸೊ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಅತಿಥಿಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದರು.
ಇತರ ಗಣ್ಯರ ಪೈಕಿ ಮೂಡುಬೆಳ್ಳೆಯ ಸಂತ ಲಾರೆನ್ಸ್ ಚರ್ಚ್‌ನ ಪ್ಯಾರಿಷ್ ಪಾಲನ ಮಂಡಳಿಯ ಉಪಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರು ಹಾಗೂ ಸಂತ ಲಾರೆನ್ಸ್ ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮ ಶಾಲೆಯ ಆಡಳಿತಾಧಿಕಾರಿಯೂ ಆಗಿರುವ ಸಿಎ ಪ್ರಿತೇಶ್ ಬರ್ಟನ್ ಡಿ’ಸಾ; ಯುವ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕ ರೆವ್. ಫಾ. ಸ್ಟೀವನ್ ಫರ್ನಾಂಡಿಸ್; ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಆಲ್ಸನ್ ಮಥಿಯಾಸ್; ಉಪಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಡೆನ್ಸನ್ ಮಸ್ಕರೇನಸ್; ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿ ಕ್ಲಿಂಟನ್ ಸುವಾರಸ್; ಹಾಗೂ ಐಸಿವೈಎಂ (ICYM) ಮೂಡುಬೆಳ್ಳೆ ಘಟಕದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಲಾಯ್ ವಿನ್ಸ್ಟನ್ ಫರ್ನಾಂಡಿಸ್ ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದರು.
ಉಪಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಡೆನ್ಸನ್ ಮಸ್ಕರೇನಸ್ ಸಭಿಕರನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾಗತಿಸಿದರು. ಇದರ ನಂತರ, ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಆಲ್ಸನ್ ಮಥಿಯಾಸ್ ಅವರ ನೇತೃತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಶೇಷ ಗೌರವಾರ್ಪಣೆ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ನಡೆಯಿತು; ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮಾವೇಶದ ಆಯೋಜನೆಗೆ ಅಮೂಲ್ಯವಾದ ಬೆಂಬಲ ಮತ್ತು ಕೊಡುಗೆ ನೀಡಿದ ಉಡುಪಿ ಧರ್ಮಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ 50 ಐಸಿವೈಎಂ ಘಟಕಗಳ ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಗಳನ್ನು ಸನ್ಮಾನಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
ಮುಖ್ಯ ಅತಿಥಿ ಶ್ರೀ ಬ್ರಯಾನ್ ಅಲ್ಫೋನ್ಸೊ ಅವರನ್ನು ಸನ್ಮಾನಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ತಮ್ಮ ಭಾಷಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ಯುವಜನರಿಗೆ ಉದ್ಯಮಶೀಲತೆಯ ಮನಸ್ಥಿತಿಯನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಮತ್ತು ಉದ್ಯೋಗ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಕರ್ತರಾಗಲು ಆಕಾಂಕ್ಷೆ ಹೊಂದುವಂತೆ ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹಿಸಿದರು. ಯುವ ಚಳುವಳಿಗೆ ನೀಡಿದ ಸಮರ್ಪಿತ ಸೇವೆಗಾಗಿ ಡೀನರಿ (ವಲಯ) ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕರನ್ನೂ ಸಹ ಗೌರವಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
ಯುವ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕ ರೆವ್. ಫಾ. ಸ್ಟೀವನ್ ಫರ್ನಾಂಡಿಸ್ ಅವರು ಪ್ರಾಯೋಜಕರನ್ನು ಸನ್ಮಾನಿಸಿದರು ಮತ್ತು ಸಮಾವೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ನೀಡಿದ ಉದಾರ ಆರ್ಥಿಕ ಬೆಂಬಲಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದರು.

ಘಟಕ ಮಟ್ಟದ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಯ ಫಲಿತಾಂಶಗಳು

ಮೇ ತಿಂಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಸಲಾದ ‘ಕ್ರಾಫ್ಟೆಡ್ ಇನ್ ಡಿವೋಷನ್’ (ಕೈಯಿಂದ ರೋಸರಿ ತಯಾರಿಸುವ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆ) ವಿಜೇತರಿಗೆ ಬಹುಮಾನಗಳನ್ನು ವಿತರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಇದರೊಂದಿಗೆ, ಆನ್‌ಲೈನ್ ರೀಲ್ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆ ಹಾಗೂ ‘ಯುವ ದಬಾಜೊ 2026’ರ ಅಂಗವಾಗಿ ನಡೆಸಲಾದ ಐದು ಘಟಕ ಮಟ್ಟದ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಗಳ ಬಹುಮಾನಗಳನ್ನೂ ನೀಡಲಾಯಿತು.

ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ವಿತರಣೆಯ ನಂತರ, ‘ಫಸ್ಟ್ ಗೇರ್ ಬ್ಯಾಂಡ್’ (First Gear Band) ವಿಶೇಷ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ವೇದಿಕೆಗೆ ಮರಳಿತು. ಎರಡು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ಧರ್ಮಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯದ ಯುವ ಸಮಾವೇಶವೊಂದರಲ್ಲಿ ಬ್ಯಾಂಡ್ ರಚನೆಯಾದಾಗಿನಿಂದ ತಮಗೆ ನೀಡಲಾದ ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹ ಮತ್ತು ಬೆಂಬಲಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ICYM ಉಡುಪಿ ಧರ್ಮಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸುವ ಸಂಕೇತವಾಗಿ ಈ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನವನ್ನು ನೀಡಲಾಯಿತು.
ದೃಢಗೊಂಡ ನಂಬಿಕೆ, ಸಂಭ್ರಮಿಸಿದ ಪ್ರತಿಭೆಗಳು, ನವೀಕೃತ ಸ್ನೇಹ ಮತ್ತು ಅಸಂಖ್ಯಾತ ನೆನಪುಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ‘ಯುವ ದಬಾಜೊ 2026’ (Yuva Dabazo 2026) ಸಂತೋಷದಾಯಕ ಮತ್ತು ಸ್ಫೂರ್ತಿದಾಯಕವಾಗಿ ಸಮಾಪ್ತಿಯಾಯಿತು. ಈ ಸಮಾವೇಶವು ಉಡುಪಿ ಧರ್ಮಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯದ ಯುವಜನರ ಉತ್ಸಾಹ ಮತ್ತು ಒಗ್ಗಟ್ಟನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿಬಿಂಬಿಸಿತು ಹಾಗೂ ಚರ್ಚ್ ಮತ್ತು ICYM ಚಳುವಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಕ್ರಿಯವಾಗಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸುವುದನ್ನು ಮುಂದುವರಿಸಲು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಹೊಸ ಚೈತನ್ಯವನ್ನು ನೀಡಿತು.

Called to Love, Sent to Serve: ICYM Udupi Diocese Presents YUVA DABAZO 2026

On September 20, 2026, the Catholic youth of the Diocese of Udupi gathered at St. Lawrence Church Hall, Moodubelle, for YUVA DABAZO 2026, the Diocesan Youth Convention organized by ICYM Udupi Diocese. The convention brought together young people from across the diocese for a memorable day of faith, fellowship, creativity, talent, and celebration.

A Meaningful Start with Holy Mass

The day began with a solemn Holy Mass, with Most Rev. Dr. Leslie Clifford D’Souza, Bishop of the Diocese of Udupi, as the main celebrant. He was joined at the altar by Rev. Fr George Thomas D’Souza, Parish Priest of St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle; Rev. Fr Steven Fernandes, Youth Director of the Diocese of Udupi; and Rev. Fr Milton Fernandes.

During his homily, Bishop Leslie shared an encouraging message with the youth:

“The youth are not just the future, but the vibrant present of the Church and the Udupi Diocese. Your active participation is the heartbeat of our faith community. .

Official Inauguration

Following the Holy Mass, the convention was officially inaugurated. Bishop Leslie hoisted the ICYM flag alongside V. Rev. Fr. Stephen D’Souza, Chancellor of the Diocese of Udupi; Rev. Fr. Steven Fernandes, Youth Director; and Alson Mathias, President of ICYM Udupi Diocese, while the Diocesan ICYM Anthem played in the background.

Bishop Leslie then officially inaugurated the event by unveiling the title of the convention, Yuva Dabazo 2026. As the main speaker of the day, the Bishop shared four meaningful words with the youth: “Called to Love, Sent to Serve.” He encouraged the young people to live with love and become responsible servants in the Church and society.

Following the inauguration, Bishop Leslie was felicitated in gratitude for his constant encouragement and support towards the youth of the diocese. Rev. Fr. George Thomas D’Souza was also honoured for graciously allowing ICYM Udupi Diocese to host the convention at Moodubelle and for the tremendous support, coordination, and facilities extended towards the successful organization of the event.

Exciting Competitions and Events

Following the inaugural programme, five on-stage competitions were conducted, providing the youth with an opportunity to showcase their creativity, knowledge, communication skills, teamwork, and talents:

Ahead of the main convention, two online events were also conducted: Same Same but Different, a unit-level advertisement recreation challenge, and Film Rush, a Diocesan-Level Short Film Competition.

As part of Film Rush, short films representing all five deaneries of the Diocese of Udupi were released on the Youth Commission Udupi Diocese YouTube channel on September 8, 2026.

In the afternoon, the First Gear Band entertained the gathering with a short performance. This was followed by Rhythm and Roots, a diocesan-level inter-deanery competition. Four deaneries took to the stage with vibrant performances featuring live music, drama, dance, mime, and human formations. The creative and energetic presentations captivated the audience and added to the festive spirit of the convention.

Valedictory Programme and Awards

The valedictory programme was presided over by Rev. Fr Stephen Rodrigues, Assistant Parish Priest of St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle. Mr. Brayan Alphonso, former Regional Treasurer and former Coordinator of the Youth Commission, Diocese of Udupi, was the chief guest.

Other dignitaries present included CA Pritesh Burton D’Sa, Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council, St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle, and Administrator of St. Lawrence English Medium School; Rev. Fr. Steven Fernandes, Youth Director; Alson Mathias, President; Denson Mascarenhas, Vice President; Clinton Suares, Cultural Secretary; and Loy Winston Fernandes, ICYM Moodubelle President.

Vice President Denson Mascarenhas welcomed the gathering. This was followed by a special recognition led by President Alson Mathias, honouring representatives from all 50 ICYM units of the Diocese of Udupi for their valuable support and contribution towards the organization of the convention.

The chief guest, Mr. Brayan Alphonso, was felicitated and, in his address, encouraged the youth to develop an entrepreneurial mindset and aspire to become job creators. The Deanery Directors were also honoured in appreciation of their dedicated service to the youth movement.

Youth Director Rev. Fr. Steven Fernandes felicitated the sponsors and expressed gratitude for their generous financial support towards the convention.

Following the presidential address by Rev. Fr. Stephen Rodrigues, ICYM President Alson Mathias delivered the vote of thanks. He expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed towards making Yuva Dabazo 2026 a success and encouraged the youth to continue actively supporting and strengthening the ICYM movement across the diocese.

The much-awaited results of the various competitions were then announced.

Unit-Level Competition Results

Prizes for Crafted in Devotion, the handmade rosary-making competition conducted in May, were distributed, followed by awards for the online reel competition and the five unit-level competitions conducted as part of Yuva Dabazo 2026.

Following the award distribution, the First Gear Band returned to the stage for a special performance as a gesture of gratitude to ICYM Udupi Diocese for the encouragement and support extended to them since the formation of the band two years ago during a diocesan youth convention.

With faith strengthened, talents celebrated, friendships renewed, and countless memories created, Yuva Dabazo 2026 concluded on a joyful and inspiring note. The convention reflected the enthusiasm and unity of the youth of the Diocese of Udupi and left them energized to continue participating actively in the Church and the ICYM movement.
