ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಅಥೇನಾ ಇನ್‌ಸ್ಟಿಟ್ಯೂಟ್ ಆಫ್ ಹೆಲ್ತ್ ಸೈನ್ಸಸ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ, 2026ರ ಅಕ್ಟೋಬರ್ 29ರಂದು ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ 10:00 ಗಂಟೆಗೆ ಕಾಲೇಜು ಸಭಾಂಗಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೋರ್ಸ್ ಉದ್ಘಾಟನಾ ಸಮಾರಂಭವು ನಡೆಯಿತು. ಈ ಸಮಾರಂಭದೊಂದಿಗೆ GNM (24ನೇ ಬ್ಯಾಚ್), B.Sc. ನರ್ಸಿಂಗ್ (23ನೇ ಬ್ಯಾಚ್), P.B.B.Sc. ನರ್ಸಿಂಗ್ (16ನೇ ಬ್ಯಾಚ್) ಮತ್ತು M.Sc. ನರ್ಸಿಂಗ್ ಕೋರ್ಸ್‌ಗಳ ಹೊಸ ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ವರ್ಷಕ್ಕೆ ಚಾಲನೆ ನೀಡಲಾಯಿತು.
ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ದೈವಿಕ ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದವನ್ನು ಕೋರುವ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನಾ ಸೇವೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಯಿತು. ಈ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನಾ ಸೇವೆಯನ್ನು ಕುಮಾರಿ ಅನೀಷಾ ಮತ್ತು ಅವರ ತಂಡದವರು ನಡೆಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟರು. ಈ ಸಮಾರಂಭದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷತೆಯನ್ನು ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥಾಪಕ ಟ್ರಸ್ಟಿ ಡಾ. ಆಶಿತ್ ಶೆಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ ಅವರು ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ವೇದಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲರಾದ ಪ್ರೊ. ರೆವ್. ಭಗಿನಿ ದೀಪಾ ಪೀಟರ್,ಉಪ ಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲರಾದ ಪ್ರೊ. ಸುನಿತಾ ಲೋಬೊ, ಅಲೈಡ್ ಹೆಲ್ತ್ ಸೈನ್ಸಸ್ ವಿಭಾಗದ ಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲರಾದ ಡಾ. ನಂದಿನಿ ಎಂ., ಹಾಗೂ ತರಗತಿ ಸಂಯೋಜಕರಾದ ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಜೆನೆವಿವ್ ಸೆರಾವೊ, ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಪ್ರಶ್ವಿನ್ ಡಿ ಮೆಲ್ಲೊ ಮತ್ತು ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಪ್ರಿಯಾ ಕಾರ್ನೆಲಿಯೊ ಅವರು ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದರು. ಇವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಬೋಧಕ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ ಮತ್ತು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಕೂಡ ಪಾಲ್ಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು.
ಉಪ ಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲರಾದ ಪ್ರೊ. ಸುನಿತಾ ಲೋಬೊ ಅವರು ಸಭಿಕರನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾಗತಿಸಿದರು.
ಗಣ್ಯರು ಸಂಸ್ಥಾಪಕರಾದ ದಿವಂಗತ ಶ್ರೀ ಆರ್. ಎಸ್. ಶೆಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಪುಷ್ಪ ನಮನ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದರು.
ಜ್ಞಾನ ಮತ್ತು ವಿವೇಕದ ಬೆಳಕನ್ನು ಸಂಕೇತಿಸುವ ದೀಪವನ್ನು ಬೆಳಗಿಸುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಸಮಾರಂಭವು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಯಿತು. ವೃತ್ತಿಪರ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣದತ್ತ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆ ಇಡುತ್ತಿರುವ ಹೊಸ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ, ಈ ಸಮಾರಂಭವು ಅವರ ಒಂದು ಮಹತ್ವದ ಪಯಣದ ಆರಂಭವನ್ನು ಸೂಚಿಸಿತು.
ಪವರ್‌ಪಾಯಿಂಟ್ ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತಿಯ ಮೂಲಕ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ ವರ್ಗದವರ ಪರಿಚಯವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಡಲಾಯಿತು ತದನಂತರ ಹೊಸದಾಗಿ ಪ್ರವೇಶ ಪಡೆದ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ತಮ್ಮ ಪರಿಚಯವನ್ನು ನೀಡಿದರು.
ಪ್ರೊ. ರೆವ್. ಭಗಿನಿ ದೀಪಾ ಪೀಟರ್ ಅವರು ಸಭೆಯನ್ನು ಉದ್ದೇಶಿಸಿ ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತಾ, ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಸ್ಫೂರ್ತಿ ತುಂಬಿದರು. ಅವರು, “ನರ್ಸಿಂಗ್ ಕೇವಲ ಒಂದು ವೃತ್ತಿಯಲ್ಲ; ಇದು ಆರೈಕೆ ಮಾಡುವ ಭರವಸೆ, ಸೇವೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸುವ ಬದ್ಧತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಮಾನವಕುಲಕ್ಕೆ ಆಶಾವಾದವನ್ನು ತರುವ ಒಂದು ಧ್ಯೇಯವಾಗಿದೆ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ಬಿ.ಎಸ್ಸಿ. ನರ್ಸಿಂಗ್ (BSc Nursing) ಎರಡನೇ ಸೆಮಿಸ್ಟರ್‌ನ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿನಿ ಕುಮಾರಿ ದಿಯಾ ಶೋಗಿ ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಅನುಭವವನ್ನು ಹಂಚಿಕೊಂಡು, ಹೊಸದಾಗಿ ಪ್ರವೇಶ ಪಡೆದ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳನ್ನು ಹುರಿದುಂಬಿಸಿದರು.
ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷೀಯ ಭಾಷಣದಲ್ಲಿ, ಡಾ. ಅಶಿತ್ ಶೆಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ ಅವರು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳನ್ನು ಉದ್ದೇಶಿಸಿ ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತಾ, ನರ್ಸಿಂಗ್ ಎಂಬುದು ಜ್ಞಾನ, ತಾಳ್ಮೆ, ಸಮರ್ಪಣಾ ಮನೋಭಾವ, ಸಹಾನುಭೂತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಬಲವಾದ ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿಯ ಪ್ರಜ್ಞೆಯನ್ನು ಬೇಡುವ ವೃತ್ತಿಯಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು. ತಮಗೆ ಸಿಗುವ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಅವಕಾಶವನ್ನೂ ಅತ್ಯುತ್ತಮವಾಗಿ ಬಳಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವಂತೆ ಹಾಗೂ ತರಗತಿಯ ಕಲಿಕೆ, ಕ್ಲಿನಿಕಲ್ ಅಭ್ಯಾಸ, ಸಂವಹನ ಕೌಶಲ್ಯಗಳು, ಶಿಸ್ತು ಮತ್ತು ವೃತ್ತಿಪರ ನೈತಿಕ ಮೌಲ್ಯಗಳಿಗೆ ಸಮಾನವಾದ ಪ್ರಾಮುಖ್ಯತೆಯನ್ನು ನೀಡುವಂತೆ ಅವರು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹಿಸಿದರು.
ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಪ್ರಿಯಾ ಕಾರ್ನೆಲಿಯೊ ಅವರು ವಂದನಾರ್ಪಣೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸುವುದರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವು ಮುಕ್ತಾಯಗೊಂಡಿತು. ನಂತರ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಗೀತೆಯನ್ನು ಹಾಡಲಾಯಿತು ಮತ್ತು ಉಪಹಾರದ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ ಮಾಡಲಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಕುಮಾರಿ ಸ್ನೇಹಾ ಥಾಮಸ್ ಮತ್ತು ಕುಮಾರಿ ಅಲೀನಾ ಬಿನು ನಿರೂಪಿಸಿದರು.

The Course Inauguration Ceremony of Athena Institute of Health Sciences, Mangalore, was held on 29th October 2026 at 10:00 a.m. in the College Auditorium, marking the commencement of the new academic year for the 24th batch of GNM, 23rd batch of B.Sc. Nursing, 16th Batch of P.B.B.Sc Nursing and M.Sc Nursing.
The programme marked the beginning with a prayer service led by Ms. Anisha and her team, seeking divine blessings on the students and the Institute. The ceremony was presided over by Dr. Ashith Shettian Managing Trustee, Prof. Rev. Sr. Deepa Peter, Principal, Prof. Sunitha Lobo, Vice Principal, and Dr. Nandini M, Principal of Allied Health Sciences, class co-ordinators Mrs. Genevive Serrao, Mrs. Prashwin D Mello and Mrs. Priya Carnelio along with faculty members and students.

The dignitaries offered floral tributes to the founder Late Mr. R S Shettian.
The ceremony commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the light of knowledge and wisdom. The ceremony marked the beginning of an important journey for the new students as they embark into professional education.
The staff introduction was done through a PowerPoint presentation, followed by introduction by the freshers.
Prof. Rev. Sr. Deepa Peter addressed the gathering and motivated the students saying “Nursing is not just a profession, it is a promise to care, a commitment to serve and a mission to bring hope to humanity”.
Ms. Diya Shogi from 2nd Semester BSc Nursing student shared her experience and encouraged the freshers.
In the presidential address, Dr. Ashith Shettian encouraged the students saying that Nursing is a profession that demands knowledge, patience, dedication, compassion, and a strong sense of responsibility. He encourage the students to make the best use of every opportunity provided and to give equal importance to classroom learning, clinical practice, communication skills, discipline, and professional ethics.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Priya Carnelio followed by the institutional anthem and refreshments. The programme was compered by Ms. Sneha Thomas and Ms. Aleena Binu.
