2026 ನೇ ಲಿಯೋ ರೊಡ್ರಿಗಸ್ ದತ್ತಿ ಕಿಟಾಳ್ ಯುವ ಪುರಸ್ಕಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಯುವ ಕವಿ ಮತ್ತು ಕಥೆಗಾರ ಗ್ಲ್ಯಾನಿಶ್ ಜ್ಯೂಡ್ ಮಾರ್ಟಿಸ್ ಆಯ್ಕೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. 2011 ರಿಂದ, ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿ ಪುರಸ್ಕೃತ ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಸಾಹಿತಿ ಮತ್ತು ವಿಮರ್ಶಕ ಎಚ್, ಎಮ್. ಪೆರ್ನಾಲ್ ಸಂಪಾದಿಸಿ ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ಕಿಟಾಳ್ (www.kittall.com) ಅಂತರ್ಜಾಲ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಯು, ಯುವ ಬರಹಗಾರನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸಿ, ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹಿಸುವ ನಿಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ 2012 ನೇ ವರ್ಷದಿಂದ ಲಿಯೊ ರೊಡ್ರಿಗಸ್ ದತ್ತಿ ಕಿಟಾಳ್ ಯುವ ಪುರಸ್ಕಾರವನ್ನು ನೀಡುತ್ತಾ ಬಂದಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಅಬುದಾಬಿಯ ಅನಿವಾಸಿ ಉದ್ಯಮಿ ಮತ್ತು ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಸಮರ್ಥಕ ಲಿಯೋ ರೊಡ್ರಿಗಸ್ ಕುಟುಂಬ ಈ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರಾಯೋಜಿಸುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿಯು 25,000 ನಗದು ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಮಾಣ ಪತ್ರವನ್ನು ಒಳಗೊಂಡಿದೆ. ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ ಕೊಂಕಣಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಖ್ಯಾತನಾಮರಾಗಿರುವ ವಿಲ್ಸನ್ ಕಟೀಲ್, ವಿಲ್ಮ ಬಂಟ್ವಾಳ್, ಸ್ಟ್ಯಾನಿ ಬೇಳಾ, ರೋಶು ಬಜ್ಪೆ, ಜೊ.ಸಿ.ಸಿದ್ದಕಟ್ಟೆ, ಕಿರಣ್ ನಿರ್ಕಾಣ್ – ಮುಂತಾದವರು ಈ ಹಿಂದೆ ಕಿಟಾಳ್ ಯುವ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿಗೆ ಭಾಜನರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಗ್ಲಾನಿಶ್ ಜ್ಯೂಡ್ ಮಾರ್ಟಿಸ್ ಕಳೆದ ಒಂದು ದಶಕದಿಂದ ಕೊಂಕಣಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸತತವಾಗಿ ಬರೆಯುತ್ತಾ ಬಂದಿದ್ದು, ಕೊಂಕಣಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಭರವಸೆಯ ಯುವ ಲೇಖಕ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಶೋಧಕರಾಗಿ ಗುರುತಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. 2024 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರ ಚೊಚ್ಚಲ ಕಥಾಸಂಕಲನ ’ಹೆರಿಡಿಟಿ’ ಪ್ರಕಟವಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಈ ವರೆಗೆ ಕೊಂಕಣಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಮಾರು 25 ಸಣ್ಣಕಥೆಗಳು, 60 ಕವನಗಳು ಮತ್ತು 20 ಲೇಖನಗಳನ್ನು ಬರೆದಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ. 2025 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರ ಗೀತ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ‘ECW ಬೆಸ್ಟ್ ಮಲ್ಟಿಲಿಂಗ್ವಲ್ ಲಿರಿಸಿಸ್ಟ್ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ’ ಬಂದಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಕೊಂಕಣಿಯ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಅವರು ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್, ಕನ್ನಡ ಮತ್ತು ಹಿಂದಿ ಭಾಷೆಗಳಲ್ಲೂ ಬರೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಮಣಿಪಾಲ ಇನ್ಸ್ಟಿಟ್ಯೂಟ್ ಆಫ್ ಟೆಕ್ನಾಲಜಿ, ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಡಾ| ಸಂತೋಷ್ ಎಲ್. ಗಾಂವ್ಕರ್ ಇವರ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ ಪಿಎಚ್ಡಿ ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವ ಅವರ ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರ ಆರ್ಗ್ಯಾನಿಕ್ ಮತ್ತು ಮೆಡಿಸಿನಲ್ ಕೆಮಿಸ್ಟ್ರಿ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಸಂಬಂದಿಸಿದ್ದು, 2024 ರಿಂದ 25 ಕ್ಕೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ವೈಜ್ಞಾನಿಕ ಪ್ರಕಟಣೆಗಳನ್ನು ಬರೆದಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ರಾಸಾಯನಿಕ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನಗಳ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ನೀಡಿದ ಕೊಡುಗೆಗಳಿಗಾಗಿ ಲಂಡನ್ನ ರಾಯಲ್ ಸೊಸೈಟಿ ಆಫ್ ಕೆಮಿಸ್ಟ್ರಿ (AMRSC) ಅಸೋಸಿಯೇಟ್ ಸದಸ್ಯರಾಗಿ ಅವರು ಇತ್ತೀಚೆಗೆ ಸೇರ್ಪಡೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅವರು ಮೂಡಬಿದ್ರೆ ಅಲಂಗಾರಿನ ಲವೀನಾ ಮತ್ತು ಗಿಲ್ಬರ್ಟ್ ಮಾರ್ಟಿಸ್ ದಂಪತಿಯ ಪುತ್ರರಾಗಿದ್ದು ಆಳ್ವಾಸ್ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಹಳೆವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ಪ್ರಧಾನ ಸಮಾರಂಭವು ಶನಿವಾರ ಅಕ್ಟೋಬರ್ 3 ರಂದು, ಹಂಪನ್ಕಟ್ಟೆ ಎಂಸಿಸಿ ಬ್ಯಾಂಕಿನ ಸಭಾಗೃಹದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಜೆ 6.30 ಕ್ಕೆ ನಡೆಯಲಿದ್ದು, ಲಿಯೋ ರೊಡ್ರಿಗಸ್ ಅವರು ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ಪ್ರಧಾನ ಮಾಡಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
Glanish Martis Selected for the 2026 Leo Rodrigues Kittall Youth Award
Glanish Jude Martis has been writing consistently in Konkani for the past decade and has established himself as a promising youth writer and researcher in the language. His debut short-story collection Heredity was published in 2024. To date, he has written around 25 short stories, 60 poems, and 20 articles in Konkani. In 2025, he received the ECW Best Multilingual Lyricist Award for his lyrical writing. Besides Konkani, he also writes in English, Kannada, and Hindi.
He is currently pursuing his PhD at Manipal Institute of Technology under the guidance of Dr. Santosh L. Gaonkar in the field of Organic and Medicinal Chemistry. Since 2024, he has authored more than 25 scientific publications. In recognition of his contributions to the Chemical Sciences, he was recently admitted as an Associate Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (AMRSC), London.
He is the son of Laveena and Gilbert Martis of Alangar, Moodbidri, and is an alumnus of Alva’s College.
Since 2011, the online Konkani literary magazine Kittall (www.kittall.com), edited and published by Sahitya Akademi Award-winning Konkani writer and critic H. M. Pernal, has been presenting the Leo Rodrigues Family Kittall Youth Award from 2012 onwards to recognise and encourage youth writers in Konkani. The award is sponsored by the family of Leo Rodrigues, a non-resident entrepreneur and Konkani supporter based in Abu Dhabi. It carries a cash prize of ₹25,000 along with a citation.
Previous recipients of the Kittall Youth Award include well-known Konkani writers such as Wilson Kateel, Wilma Bantwal, Stany Bela, Roshu Bajpe, Jo. Cy. Siddakatte, and Kiran Nirkan.
The award presentation ceremony will be held on Saturday, 3 October, at 6:30 p.m. in the MCC Bank auditorium at Hampankatta. Leo Rodrigues will present the award.

Kittall.com, Mangaluru’s pioneering Konkani literary portal, has completed over 15 years of continuous publication since its launch on 5 February 2011. Founded and edited by poet, short-story writer and critic Henry Mendonca, better known as H. M. Pernal, the free online platform was inaugurated by Sahitya Akademi Award-winning poet Melvyn Rodrigues at Sandesha Foundation in the presence of Fr. In 2012, on its first anniversary, Kittall introduced the Leo Rodrigues Family Kittall Youth Award to recognise and encourage young talent. Sponsored by Abu Dhabi-based NRI entrepreneur and Konkani supporter Leo Rodrigues and his family, the award carries a cash prize of ₹25,000 and a citation.
Kittall Prakashan, the publishing arm of the portal, began bringing out quality Konkani books, starting with Pernal’s short-story collection Beeg Ani Bigath and Kateel’s poetry volume Encounter in 2016. So far Kittall Prakashan has published 20 konkani titles.
Sustained by contributions from well-wishers and readers rather than commercial sponsorship, Kittall continues to function as a non-profit literary platform. H. M. Pernal remains its editor while also serving as publisher of Kittall Publications.
The portal has further expanded into video content and multilingual outreach, maintaining its commitment to nurturing new voices and preserving Konkani literary culture in the digital age.
Today, Kittall stands as a significant chapter in the longer history of Konkani periodicals, offering a sustained online home for literature rooted in coastal Karnataka’s Kannada-script tradition.
