St Aloysius Gonzaga School Celebrates Grandparents’ Day with Joy and Warmth
ಮಂಗಳೂರು :ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಪೂರ್ವ ಪ್ರಾಥಮಿಕ ಹಂತವು ಅವರ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿತ್ವ ವಿಕಸನಕ್ಕೆ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಮಹತ್ವದ ಅಡಿಪಾಯವಾಗಿದೆ. ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಯಿಂದ ನೋಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದು, ಅವರಿಗೆ ಬೆಂಬಲ ನೀಡುವುದು ಹಾಗೂ ಅವರ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಆಲಿಸುವುದು ಮುಖ್ಯವಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಕೆ.ಎಸ್. ಹೆಗ್ಡೆ ಮೆಡಿಕಲ್ ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿಯ ಮನೋವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ವಿಭಾಗದ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕ ಡಾ. ಸತೀಶ್ ರಾವ್ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯಪಟ್ಟರು .
ಅವರು ಸಂತ ಅಲೋಶಿಯಸ್ ಗೊನ್ಝಾಗ ಶಾಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ 2026ರ ಸೆಪ್ಟೆಂಬರ್ 11ರಂದು ಪೂರ್ವ ಪ್ರಾಥಮಿಕ ವಿಭಾಗದ ವತಿಯಿಂದ ಜರಗಿದ ಅಜ್ಜ-ಅಜ್ಜಿಯರ ದಿನಾಚರಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಅತಿಥಿಯಾಗಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು .ಶಿಸ್ತುಓದುವ ಹವ್ಯಾಸ, ಮೊಬೈಲ್ ಫೋನ್ ಬಳಕೆಯನ್ನು ಮಿತಿಗೊಳಿಸುವುದು, ಭಾವನಾತ್ಮಕ ಕ್ಷೇಮ ಹಾಗೂ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಬೆಳವಣಿಗೆಗೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದ ಯಾವುದೇ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಸಮಯೋಚಿತ ಗಮನ ನೀಡುವ ಅಗತ್ಯವಿದೆ ಎಂದರು.ಮುಖ್ಯ ಅತಿಥಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಗೌರವ ಅತಿಥಿಯಾಗಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ್ದ ಡಾ. ಸತೀಶ್ ರಾವ್ ಹಾಗೂ ಲಿಂಕ್ ಇಂಟಿಗ್ರೇಟೆಡ್ ರಿಹ್ಯಾಬಿಲಿಟೇಷನ್ ಸೆಂಟರ್ನ ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿ ಡಾ. ಗೀತಾ ಎಸ್. ರಾವ್ ಇವರು ಕೆಜಿ–II ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿನಿ ಅದ್ರಿತಾ ರಾವ್ ಅವರ ಅಜ್ಜ-ಅಜ್ಜಿಯರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ.ಅಜ್ಜ-ಅಜ್ಜಿಯಂದಿರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮೊಮ್ಮಕ್ಕಳ ನಡುವಿನ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯ ಹಾಗೂ ಅಮೂಲ್ಯ ಬಾಂಧವ್ಯವನ್ನು ಸ್ಮರಿಸುವ ಉದ್ದೇಶದಿಂದ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ಆಯೋಜಿಸಲಾಗಿತ್ತು.
ಶಾಲೆಯ ಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲರಾದ ರೆವ. ಫಾ. ರೋಹನ್ ಡಿ’ಅಲ್ಮೇಡಾ ಎಸ್ಜೆ ಅವರು ‘ಮೂರು ಸಿ’ಗಳಾದ ಕಾಳಜಿ , ಸಂಪರ್ಕ ಮತ್ತು ನಿರಂತರತೆ ಕುರಿತು ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಪೋಷಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಜ್ಜ-ಅಜ್ಜಿಯರ ಮಹತ್ವದ ಪಾತ್ರವನ್ನು ವಿವರಿಸಿದರು. ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಬಾಂಧವ್ಯವನ್ನು ಗಟ್ಟಿಗೊಳಿಸುವಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಒಂದು ಪೀಳಿಗೆಯಿಂದ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಪೀಳಿಗೆಗೆ ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯ, ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಮೌಲ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ವರ್ಗಾಯಿಸುವಲ್ಲಿ ಅಜ್ಜ-ಅಜ್ಜಿಯರ ಪಾತ್ರ ಅಮೂಲ್ಯವಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದರು.ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭ ಪ್ರೀ-ಕೆಜಿ, ಕೆಜಿ–I ಮತ್ತು ಕೆಜಿ–II ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಂದ ವೈವಿಧ್ಯಮಯ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳು ನಡೆದವು. ಅಜ್ಜ-ಅಜ್ಜಿಯರ ಮಹತ್ವ ಮತ್ತು ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರ ಅಮೂಲ್ಯ ಪಾತ್ರವನ್ನು ಬಿಂಬಿಸುವ ವಿಶೇಷ ಕಿರುನಾಟಕ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನಗೊಂಡಿತು.
‘ಯಂಗ್ ಆ್ಯಂಡ್ ಓಲ್ಡ್’ ಪ್ರತಿಭಾ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಜ್ಜ-ಅಜ್ಜಿಯರು ತಮ್ಮ ವಿವಿಧ ಪ್ರತಿಭೆಗಳನ್ನು ಅನಾವರಣಗೊಳಿಸಿದರು. ಇದು ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಕ್ಕೆ ಮತ್ತಷ್ಟು ಸಂತಸ, ಉತ್ಸಾಹ ಮತ್ತು ಮೆರುಗು ನೀಡಿತು.
ಕೆಜಿ–I ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿನಿ ಎಲೈನಾ ಅವರ ಅಜ್ಜಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿರುವುದು ತಮ್ಮ ಪಾಲಿಗೆ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ವಿಶೇಷ ಹಾಗೂ ಹೆಮ್ಮೆಯ ಕ್ಷಣವಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದರು .
ಕೆಜಿ–I ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿನಿ ವಿಧಿ ಶೆಣೈ ಅವರು ಮಾತನಾಡಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಮೊಮ್ಮಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ವೇದಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನ ನೀಡಿರುವುದು ಕೇವಲ ಒಂದು ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವಾಗಿರದೆ, ಪರಸ್ಪರ ಬಾಂಧವ್ಯವನ್ನು ಮತ್ತಷ್ಟು ಗಟ್ಟಿಗೊಳಿಸುವ ಹಾಗೂ ಸದಾ ನೆನಪಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಉಳಿಯುವ ಅಮೂಲ್ಯ ಕ್ಷಣವನ್ನು ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸುವ ಅವಕಾಶವಾಗಿತ್ತು ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಹೇಳಿದರು. ಮೊಮ್ಮಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಇಂತಹ ಅರ್ಥಪೂರ್ಣ ಕ್ಷಣವನ್ನು ಹಂಚಿಕೊಂಡಿರುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ತಾವು ಹೆಮ್ಮೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದಿತ ಭಾವನೆ ಹೊಂದಿರುವುದಾಗಿ ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.
ಅಜ್ಜ-ಅಜ್ಜಿಯರು ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿರುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಂತಸ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿ, ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಅಚ್ಚುಕಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ಆಯೋಜಿಸಿದ್ದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಮೆಚ್ಚುಗೆ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದರು. ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರು ತೋರಿದ ಪ್ರೀತಿ, ಕಾಳಜಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಬದ್ಧತೆಯಿಂದ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಸುಂದರ ಹಾಗೂ ಸ್ಮರಣೀಯ ಅನುಭವವಾಯಿತು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ಮಿಶಿಕಾ ಮೊಂತೆರೊ ಅವರ ಪೋಷಕರು, ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗಾಗಿ ಶಾಲೆಯು ಅರ್ಥಪೂರ್ಣ ಹಾಗೂ ಮೌಲ್ಯಾಧಾರಿತ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಆಯೋಜಿಸಿರುವುದನ್ನು ಶ್ಲಾಘಿಸಿದರು. ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ‘ಗ್ರ್ಯಾಂಡ್ಪೇರೆಂಟ್ಸ್ ಮ್ಯೂಸಿಯಂ’ ಕಿರುನಾಟಕವು ಎಲ್ಲರ ಮನಸೂರೆಗೊಂಡಿತು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು. ಅಜ್ಜ-ಅಜ್ಜಿಯರು ತಮ್ಮ ಮೊಮ್ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯಿಂದ ನೀಡುವ ಮೌಲ್ಯಗಳು, ಜ್ಞಾನ, ಕಾಳಜಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಜೀವನ ಪಾಠಗಳನ್ನು ನಾಟಕವು ಸುಂದರವಾಗಿ ಬಿಂಬಿಸಿತು ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ಪ್ರೀ-ಕೆಜಿ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿನಿ ನಿಕೋಲ್ ಪ್ರಭಾಕರ್ ಅವರ ಪೋಷಕರಾದ ಡಾ. ಸುಪ್ರಿಯಾ ಅವರು, ತಮ್ಮ ಅತ್ತೆ-ಮಾವಂದಿರು ‘ಯಂಗ್ & ಓಲ್ಡ್’ ಪ್ರತಿಭಾ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿರುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಂತಸ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದರು. ನಿವೃತ್ತಿಯ ನಂತರ ಅಜ್ಜ-ಅಜ್ಜಿಯರಿಗೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರತಿಭೆಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಿಸಲು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಅವಕಾಶಗಳು ದೊರೆಯುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವು ಅವರಿಗೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರತಿಭೆಯನ್ನು ಅನಾವರಣಗೊಳಿಸಲು ಹಾಗೂ ವೇದಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನ ನೀಡುವ ಸಂತಸವನ್ನು ಅನುಭವಿಸಲು ಉತ್ತಮ ವೇದಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಒದಗಿಸಿತು ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಹೇಳಿದರು. ಅಜ್ಜ-ಅಜ್ಜಿಯರು ಸಂತೋಷ ಹಾಗೂ ಉತ್ಸಾಹದಿಂದ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿರುವುದನ್ನು ನೋಡುವುದು ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಪಾಲಿಗೆ ಹೃದಯಸ್ಪರ್ಶಿ ಅನುಭವವಾಗಿತ್ತು ಎಂದರು.
ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಡಯೋನಾರಾ ಜಾಯ್ಸ್, ಪ್ಯಾಟ್ರಿಷಿಯಾ ಎಸ್. ಆರ್. ಡಿಸೋಜಾ ಹಾಗೂ ಮಿಶಲ್ ಕೇರೆಲ್ ಕ್ರಾಸ್ಟಾ ಸಂಯೋಜಿಸಿದರು. ಉಪಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲರು ಹಾಗೂ ಕಿಂಡರ್ಗಾರ್ಟನ್ ಸಂಯೋಜಕರಾದ ಅಪರ್ಣಾ ಸುರೇಶ್ ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದರು. ಕ್ಲಾರಾ ಮಾರಿಯಾ ಸ್ವಾಗತ ಭಾಷಣ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ಡೈನೋರಾ ಜಾಯ್ಸ್ ವಂದನಾರ್ಪಣೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದರು. ಅವೆರಿಲ್ ರೆಬೆಲ್ಲೊ ಹಾಗೂ ಮಿಶೆಲ್ ಕ್ರಾಸ್ಟಾ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ನಿರೂಪಿಸಿದರು.
St Aloysius Gonzaga School Celebrates Grandparents’ Day with Joy and Warmth
St Aloysius Gonzaga School organised a vibrant Grandparents’ Day celebration on 11 September 2026 for the Pre-Primary section, celebrating the beautiful and cherished bond between grandparents and grandchildren. Dr Sateesh Rao, Professor, Department of Psychiatry, K. S. Hegde Medical Academy, and Dr Geeta S. Rao, Medical Officer, Link Integrated Rehabilitation Centre, and proud grandparents of Adritha Rao of KG-II, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour, respectively.
The programme commenced with a prayer dance by the KG-I students, followed by a warm welcome dance. Addressing the gathering, Dr Sateesh Rao highlighted the preschool years as a crucial foundation for personality development. He emphasised the importance of loving, supporting and listening to children, while encouraging discipline, reading habits, limited mobile-phone use, emotional well-being and timely attention to developmental concerns.
Rev. Fr. Rohan D’Almeida SJ, Principal, emphasised the Three C’s – Caring, Connection and Continuity – and highlighted the significant role of grandparents in nurturing children, strengthening family bonds and passing on traditions and values across generations.
The celebration featured colourful cultural performances by the Pre-KG, KG-I and KG-II students, along with a special skit portraying the significance and invaluable role of grandparents in the lives of children. The grandparents showcased their talent in the “Young and Old” talent show event which added warmth, joy and charm to the celebration.
Reflecting on the celebration, the grandmother of Elayna of KG-I described the experience as a truly special and proud moment. She shared that performing on stage alongside her granddaughter was much more than a performance—it was a beautiful opportunity to bond and create a precious memory that she would always cherish. She expressed feeling proud and blessed to have shared such a meaningful moment with her granddaughter.
The grandparents of Vidhi Shenoy of KG-I expressed their delight at being part of the celebration and appreciated the meticulous organisation of the programme. They admired the love, care and commitment of the teachers, which made the event a truly wonderful and memorable experience for everyone.
The parent of Mishika Monteiro appreciated the school’s initiative of organising a meaningful, value-based programme for the little ones. She particularly highlighted the “Grandparents’ Museum” skit, which, she said, touched everyone’s hearts by beautifully portraying the values, wisdom, care and life lessons that grandparents lovingly pass on to their grandchildren.
Dr Supriya, parent of Nicole Prabhakar of Pre-KG, shared how delighted her in-laws were to participate in the “Young & Old” talent show. She observed that grandparents often have few opportunities to showcase their talents after retirement and felt that the programme provided them with a wonderful platform to express themselves and experience the joy of performing. She added that it was heartwarming for the family to see the grandparents so happy and enthusiastic.
The programme was coordinated by Dayonara Joyce, Patricia S. R. D’Souza and Mishal Carel Crasta. Ms Aparna Suresh, Vice-Principal and Kindergarten Coordinator, was present. Clara Maria delivered the welcome address, Dynora Joyce proposed the vote of thanks, while Averyl Rebello and Mishel Crasta compered the programme.
