ತಮ್ಮ ಸುಂದರವಾದ ಧರ್ಮೋಪದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ, ಫಾದರ್ ಮೆಲ್ವಿನ್ ಮೆಂಡೋನ್ಕಾ, ಮಾತೆ ಮೇರಿ ದೇವರ ಚಿತ್ತವನ್ನು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ಶರಣಾಗುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಹೇಗೆ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ನಮಗೆ ಕಲಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ ಮತ್ತು ನಜರೆತ್ನ ಪವಿತ್ರ ಕುಟುಂಬದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರ ಮಾದರಿಯ ಮೂಲಕ ಬಲವಾದ, ಪ್ರೀತಿಯ ಕುಟುಂಬ ಸಂಬಂಧಗಳನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಮಿಸುವಲ್ಲಿ ನಮಗೆ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನ ನೀಡುತ್ತಾರೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು. ಮೇರಿ ತನ್ನ ಹೃದಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಘಟನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಇಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಚಿಂತಿಸಿದಳು, ಮೌನವಾಗಿ ದೇವರನ್ನು ಕೇಳಲು ನಮಗೆ ಕಲಿಸಿದಳು. ನಾವು ನಮಗಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸಲು ಮೇರಿಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ, ಅವಳು ನಮ್ಮ ಅಗತ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ನೇರವಾಗಿ ಯೇಸುವಿನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ತರುತ್ತಾಳೆ, ಒಬ್ಬರಿಗೊಬ್ಬರು ಹೇಗೆ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ನಮಗೆ ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತಾಳೆ. ಮೇರಿಯ ಸೌಮ್ಯ ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತಿಯು ಕುಟುಂಬ ಸದಸ್ಯರು ಕೋಪ ಮತ್ತು ತೀರ್ಪನ್ನು ತಾಳ್ಮೆ, ಕ್ಷಮೆ ಮತ್ತು ಕರುಣೆಯಿಂದ ಬದಲಾಯಿಸಲು ಸಹಾಯ ಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆ.
ನಮ್ಮ ಪೂಜ್ಯ ತಾಯಿಯ ಮೇಲಿನ ಭಕ್ತಿಯು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಹಂಚಿಕೆಯ ನಂಬಿಕೆಯ ಮೂಲಕ ಕುಟುಂಬಗಳನ್ನು ಒಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಇರಿಸುವ ಬಂಧವಾಗಿ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ಫಾದರ್ ಮೆಲ್ವಿನ್ ಹೇಳಿದರು. ಯೇಸುವಿನ ತಾಯಿ, ತಾಯಿ ಮೇರಿಯಿಂದ, ನಾವು ದೇವರ ಯೋಜನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಂಬಿಕೆ, ವಿಧೇಯತೆ ಮತ್ತು ನಂಬಿಕೆಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಅಮೂಲ್ಯವಾದ ಪಾಠಗಳನ್ನು ಕಲಿಯಬಹುದು.
ಬಲಿದಾನದ ಕೊನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ, ಮೊನ್ಸಿಝೋರ್ ಫ್ರಾನ್ಸಿಸ್ ಕ್ಸೇವಿಯರ್ ಲೂಯಿಸ್ ಅವರು ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸಂಬಂಧಪಟ್ಟ ಮತ್ತು ವಿದೇಶಿ ಪ್ಯಾರಿಷಿಯನ್ನರಿಗೆ ಹಬ್ಬದ ಶುಭಾಶಯಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಶುಭಾಶಯಗಳನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು. ಕೋಟೆ ರಸ್ತೆಯ ದಿವಂಗತ ಲಾಜರಸ್ ಮಾರ್ಗರೇಟ್ ಡಿ’ಸೋಜಾ ಮತ್ತು ಹಬ್ಬದ ಬಲಿದಾನದ ಇತರ ಪ್ರಾಯೋಜಕರಿಗೆ ಅವರು ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದರು. ಒಂಬತ್ತು ದಿನಗಳ ನೊವೆನಾ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒದಗಿಸಲಾದ ಟಿಫಿನ್ಗಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಾಯೋಜಕರಿಗೆ ಅವರು ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದರು. ಹಬ್ಬದ ಆಚರಣೆಯನ್ನು ವರದಿ ಮಾಡುವ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಗಳಿಗೂ ಅವರು ಧನ್ಯವಾದ ಅರ್ಪಿಸಿದರು.
ಮಿಲಾಗ್ರೆಸ್ ಕ್ಯಾಥೆಡ್ರಲ್ನ ಅತ್ಯುತ್ತಮ ಪ್ರತಿಭಾನ್ವಿತ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ದಿವಂಗತ ಲಾಜರಸ್ ಮತ್ತು ದಿವಂಗತ ಮಾರ್ಗರೇಟ್ ಡಿಸೋಜಾ ಅವರ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಪ್ರಾಯೋಜಿಸಿದ್ದ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿವೇತನವನ್ನು ರೆಕ್ಟರ್ ಘೋಷಿಸಿದರು. ಬಲಿದಾನದ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಆರ್ಚಕ ರೆವರೆಂಡ್ ಫಾದರ್ ಮೆಲ್ವಿನ್ ಮೆಂಡೋನ್ಕಾ ಹಬ್ಬದ ಬಲಿದಾನದ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಪ್ರಾಯೋಜಕರಿಗೆ ಅಲಂಕರಿಸಿದ ಮೇಣದಬತ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ವಿತರಿಸಿದರು ಮತ್ತು ನೊವೆನಾ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಯ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಒದಗಿಸಿದ ಟಿಫಿನ್ನ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಪ್ರಾಯೋಜಕರಿಗೆ ಅಲಂಕರಿಸಿದ ಮೇಣದಬತ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ವಿತರಿಸಿದರು.
ಹಬ್ಬದ ಬಲಿಪೂಜೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಒಂಬತ್ತು ದಿನಗಳ ನವರಾತ್ರಿ ಸಾಮೂಹಿಕ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಯನ್ನು ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಭಗವಂತ ಶೀಲಾ ಮೆನೆಜಸ್ ನೇತೃತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಂದರವಾಗಿ ನಡೆಸಿದರು. ಉಜ್ವಾಡ್ ಫೋರ್ಟ್ನೈಟ್ಲಿಯ ಪ್ರಧಾನ ಸಂಪಾದಕ ಫಾದರ್ ಅಲ್ವಿನ್ ನೇತೃತ್ವದ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಹಬ್ಬದ ಸಾಮೂಹಿಕ ಗಾಯನವನ್ನು ನಡೆಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟರು, ಇದು ಅಸಾಧಾರಣವಾದದ್ದು, ಇದನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯ ಸಭೆಗಳು ಮೆಚ್ಚಿಕೊಂಡವು.

Udupi, Sept 8 : Milagres Cathedral of Udupi diocese celebrated the feast of Nativity of Virgin Mary here in Kallianpur with great fervor and gaiety on September 8, 2026.
Large numer of parishioners and congregation along with large children gathered at 8 am in front of Cathedral portico prior to celebrations of Solemn High festive mass. After the brief announcements on the celebrations, the Vicar General of Udupi Diocese and presently in the absence of Diocese Bishop who have been in Rome, Vatican, Diocese administrator, Rector of Cathedral, Very Rev Msgr. Francis Xavier Lewis, Asst. parish priest Rev Fr. Rickson Monteiro led the prayers prior to the blessing on the paddy corns. The large number of children offered colourful flowers to the infant Mary statue by singing “Moriye Hogalsiyam”. After the brief ceremony, a large number of the congregation proceeded towards the Cathedral along with carrying blessed Paddy Corns by the 15 gurkars of the parish and main members of the family of the feast.
Followed by the blessing on the paddy corns, the Solemn High Eucharistic celebration was con-celebrated by the Rev Fr. Melwyn Mendonce, SJ, Principal of Milagres PU College, Very Rev Msgr Francis Xavier Lewis and Rev Fr. Rickson Monteiro. Fr. Melwyn Mendonca, also celebrating his birthday, led the mass with gratitude to God almighty for his priestly services for God earlier his introduction of the mass.
In his beautiful homily, Fr. Melwyn Mendonca said that Mother Mary teaches us how to pray through complete surrender of God’s will and guides us in building strong, loving family relationships through her example in the Holy Family of Nazareth. Mary kept events in her heart and pondered them, teaching us to listen to God in silence. When we ask Mary to pray for us, she brings our needs directly to Jesus, showing us how to pray for one another. Mary’s gentle presence helps family members replace anger and judgment with patience, forgiveness and mercy.
Fr Melwyn said that devotion to Our Blessed Mother acts as a bond that keeps families together through prayer and shared faith. From the mother of Jesus, Mother Mary, we can learn valuable lessons about faith, obedience and trust in God’s plan.
At the end of the mass, Monsignor Francis Xavier Lewis conveyed the festive wishes and greetings to all concerned and overseas parishioners. He gave gratitude to firgent, late Lazarus Margaret D’Souza, Kote Road and other sponsors of the festive mass. He also gave gratitude to sponsors for the tiffin provided during the nine days novena prayers. He also gave thanks to media persons who cover the festive celebration.
The Rector announced the scholarships to top meritorious students of Milagres Cathedral which were sponsored by Late Lazarus and Late Margaret Dsouza’s children. The main celebrant of the mass, Rev Fr. Melwyn Mendonca distributed decorated candle to main sponsor of the festive mass and distributed the decorated candle to all sponsors of the tiffin who provided during the novena prayers.
The festive mass as well as all nine days novena mass liturgy under the leadership of Tr. Sheela Menezes by the children conducted beautifully. The festive mass choir was conducted by the children led by Fr. Alwyn, editor in chief of Uzvaad Fortnightly which is an extraordinary one, appreciated by a large number of congregations.
All devotees conveyed festive wishes themselves after the mass and served the vorn, payasam to all participants. Meanwhile as usual, sugarcane was served to all the parishioners and the children.
