ಮಂಗಳೂರು, ಜೂನ್ 11: ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಬಿಕರ್ನಕಟ್ಟೆಯ ಇನ್ಫೆಂಟ್ ಜೀಸಸ್ ಪುಣ್ಯಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ (ಬಾಲ ಯೇಸು ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನ) ಜೂನ್ 11 ರಂದು ಪರಿಸರ ಜಾಗೃತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಯ ಕಾಳಜಿಯನ್ನು ಉತ್ತೇಜಿಸುವ ವಿಶೇಷ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದೊಂದಿಗೆ ವಿಶ್ವ ಪರಿಸರ ದಿನವನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಈ ಆಚರಣೆಯ ಅಂಗವಾಗಿ ಭಕ್ತಾದಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಸುಮಾರು 1,000 ಸಸಿಗಳನ್ನು ವಿತರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
ಡಿಸ್ಕಾಲ್ಸ್ಡ್ ಕಾರ್ಮೆಲೈಟ್ಸ್ನ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ-ಗೋವಾ ಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯದ ಪ್ರಾಂತೀಯ ಸುಪೀರಿಯರ್ ಆಗಿರುವ ವಂ| ಜಾನ್ ಫ್ರಾನ್ಸಿಸ್ ಸಿಕ್ವೇರಾ ಅವರು ಮುಖ್ಯ ಅತಿಥಿಗಳಾಗಿ ಆಗಮಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಅವರು, “ಮಾನವಕುಲವು ದೇವರ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಯ ಮಾಲೀಕರಲ್ಲ, ಬದಲಿಗೆ ಅದರ ಉಸ್ತುವಾರಿಗಳಾಗಲು ಕರೆಯಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿದೆ” ಎಂದು ನೆರೆದಿದ್ದವರಿಗೆ ನೆನಪಿಸಿದರು. “ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬ ಮಾನವನೂ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಯ ಉಸ್ತುವಾರಿಯೇ ಹೊರತು ಅದರ ಮಾಲೀಕನಲ್ಲ. ನಾವು ಕೇವಲ ಉಸ್ತುವಾರಿಗಳಾಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ, ದೇವರ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಯ ಸೌಂದರ್ಯವನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸುವ, ಪೋಷಿಸುವ ಮತ್ತು ಉಳಿಸುವ ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿ ನಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲಿದೆ. ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿದುದನ್ನು ನಾಶಪಡಿಸುವ ಯಾವುದೇ ಹಕ್ಕು ನಮಗಿಲ್ಲ,” ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ಪೋಪ್ ಫ್ರಾನ್ಸಿಸ್ ಅವರ ‘ಲೌದಾತೊ ಸೀ’ (Laudato Si’) ಪರಿಕಲ್ಪನೆಯನ್ನು ಉಲ್ಲೇಖಿಸಿದ ವಂ| ಸಿಕ್ವೇರಾ, “ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಯ ರಕ್ಷಣೆಯು ಕೇವಲ ಪರಿಸರಕ್ಕೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದ ವಿಷಯವಲ್ಲ, ಅದೊಂದು ನೈತಿಕ ಮತ್ತು ಆಧ್ಯಾತ್ಮಿಕ ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿಯಾಗಿದೆ. ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬರೂ ಪೋಪ್ ಫ್ರಾನ್ಸಿಸ್ ಅವರು ತೋರಿಸಿದ ಹಾದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯಬೇಕು ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಕೃತಿಯನ್ನು ಗೌರವಿಸುವ ಹಾಗೂ ಸುಸ್ಥಿರತೆಯನ್ನು ಉತ್ತೇಜಿಸುವ ಜೀವನಶೈಲಿಯನ್ನು ಅಳವಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು. ಇನ್ಫೆಂಟ್ ಜೀಸಸ್ ಪುಣ್ಯಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಆರಂಭವಾಗಿರುವ ಈ ಹಸಿರು ಕ್ರಾಂತಿಯು ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಮತ್ತು ಅದರ ಆಚೆಗಿನ ಜನರಿಗೂ ನಮ್ಮ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಮನೆಯ (ಭೂಮಿಯ) ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿಯುತ ರಕ್ಷಕರಾಗಲು ಪ್ರೇರಣೆ ನೀಡುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ನಾನು ನಂಬುತ್ತೇನೆ,” ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.
ಭಾಷಣದ ನಂತರ, ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ್ದವರಿಗೆ ಉಚಿತವಾಗಿ ಸಸಿಗಳನ್ನು ವಿತರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಗಿಡಗಳನ್ನು ನೆಟ್ಟು ಪೋಷಿಸುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಪರಿಸರ ಸಂರಕ್ಷಣೆಗೆ ಸಕ್ರಿಯವಾಗಿ ಕೊಡುಗೆ ನೀಡುವಂತೆ ಕುಟುಂಬಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಎವೆಲಿನ್ ರೊಡ್ರಿಗಸ್ ಅವರು ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ನಿರೂಪಿಸಿದರು. ಸೆಂಟ್ ಜೋಸೆಫ್ ಆಶ್ರಮದ ಸುಪೀರಿಯರ್ ವಂ| ಮೆಲ್ವಿನ್ ಡಿಸೋಜಾ, ಇನ್ಫೆಂಟ್ ಜೀಸಸ್ ಪುಣ್ಯಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕ ವಂ| ಸ್ಟಿಫನ್ ಪೆರೇರಾ, ಲಕ್ನೋ ಧರ್ಮಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯದ ವಂ| ಡೊಮಿನಿಕ್ ಪಿಂಟೊ ಮತ್ತು ವಂ| ಅಶ್ವತ್ ಡಿಸೋಜಾ ಮುಂತಾದವರು ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದರು.
World Environment Day Observed at Infant Jesus Shrine; 1,000 Saplings Distributed
Mangaluru, June 11: The Infant Jesus Shrine, Bikarnakatte, Mangaluru, observed World Environment Day on June 11 with a special programme promoting environmental awareness and care for creation. Nearly 1,000 saplings were distributed to the faithful as part of the celebration.
Rev. Fr. John Francis Sequeira, Provincial Superior of the Karnataka-Goa Province of the Discalced Carmelites, was the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, he reminded the gathering that humanity is called to be a steward, not the owner, of God’s creation.
“Every human being is a steward of creation and not its owner. Since we are only stewards, we have the responsibility to protect, nurture, and preserve the beauty of God’s creation. We have no right to destroy what belongs to God,” he said.
Referring to Pope Francis’ vision in Laudato Si’, Fr. Sequeira further stated, “The care of creation is not merely an environmental issue but a moral and spiritual responsibility. Each one of us must walk the path shown by Pope Francis and adopt a lifestyle that respects nature and promotes sustainability. I hope that the green revolution initiated at the Infant Jesus Shrine will inspire people throughout Mangaluru and beyond to become responsible caretakers of our common home.”
Following the address, free saplings were distributed among the participants, encouraging families to contribute actively to environmental conservation by planting and nurturing trees.
The programme was compered by Mrs. Evelyn Rodrigues. Among those present were Rev. Fr. Melvin D’Cunha, Superior of St. Joseph’s Monastery; Rev. Fr. Stifan Perera, Director of the Infant Jesus Shrine; Rev. Fr. Dominic Pinto of the Diocese of Lucknow; and Rev. Fr. Ashwath D’Souza.
