Mangalore : ‘Abhaya’ – The Women’s Forum of St Agnes PU College organised a talk on ‘Cyber Crime and Security’ in the college Auditorium. Mr Abdul Rameez, an expert in cyber security was the resource person and was accompanied by Mr Abhishek, Mr Hussain. Mr Mohan and Mr Pavan.
Mr Abdul said that computers and smartphones play a dominant role in today’s world. We should be careful while using it as it has both advantages and disadvantages. He dwelt upon some of the major cyber-attacks, how cyber security works and cyber security awareness. He also informed students about the various types of cyber-crime, forms of cyber-crimes and highlighted the need to be alert and vigilant. He also demonstrated how some of these crimes are committed and explained how fraudsters usually operate.
The students enjoyed the session and became aware of the pitfalls associated with the cyber world and its vulnerability. “Being forewarned is being forearmed”. This was especially true in this context as students learnt about safe browsing.
The program was co-ordinated by Convenor of Abhaya, Dr Tressie and the team Mr Mathew & Mrs Anitha along with student representatives Ms Lita, Ms Sanathani, Ms Amekha and Ms Yashasvi.
