ಬೆಂದೂರು;ಸೇಂಟ್ ಸೆಬಾಸ್ಟಿಯನ್ ಚರ್ಚ್ ತನ್ನ ಪ್ಯಾರಿಷ್ ದಿನವನ್ನು ಜನವರಿ 19 ರಂದು ಸೇಂಟ್ ಸೆಬಾಸ್ಟಿಯನ್ ಅವರ ಹಬ್ಬದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಆಚರಿಸಿತು. PPC ಸದಸ್ಯರು, ಪ್ರಾಯೋಜಕರು ಮತ್ತು ಫಲಾನುಭವಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಮೇಣದಬತ್ತಿಗಳನ್ನು ವಿತರಿಸುವುದರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಆಚರಣೆಯು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಯಿತು, ಇದು ಪ್ಯಾರಿಷ್ ಸಮುದಾಯಕ್ಕೆ ಅವರ ಕೊಡುಗೆಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಬೆಂಬಲವನ್ನು ಸಂಕೇತಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

ಜುಬಿಲಿ ವರ್ಷದ ಆಚರಣೆಯ ಅಂಗವಾಗಿ, ಒಂಬತ್ತು ಶಿಲುಬೆಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ಯಾರಿಷ್‌ನ ಮನೆಗಳ ನಡುವೆ ಪ್ರಸಾರ ಮಾಡಲು ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸಲಾಯಿತು, ಇದು ಸಮುದಾಯದೊಳಗಿನ ಏಕತೆ ಮತ್ತು ನಂಬಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಸಂಕೇತಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

ಧರ್ಮಕೇಂದ್ರದ ವಂ। ವಾಲ್ಟರ್ ಡಿಸೋಜಾ, ಬರೆದ ಗೀತೆಯನ್ನು ಧರ್ಮಕೇಂದ್ರದ ಗುಂಪಿನಿಂದ ಹಾಡಿದ್ದು ವಿಶೇಷ ಗಮನಸೆಳೆಯಿತು.

ಡಾ. ಡೆನಿಸ್ ರೋಡ್ರಿಗಸ್ ಮತ್ತು ಡಾ. ರೀಮಾ ಜೆನಿಫರ್ ಡಿ’ಸಿಲ್ವಾ – ತಮ್ಮ ಪಿಎಚ್‌ಡಿಗಳನ್ನು ಗಳಿಸಿದ್ದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಶಂಸಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
ಮಾಸ್ಟರ್ ಅಕಿನ್ ಕ್ರಾಸ್ತಾ – ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಮಟ್ಟದ ಕರಾಟೆ ಚಾಂಪಿಯನ್‌ಶಿಪ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ 3ನೇ ಸ್ಥಾನ ಗಳಿಸಿದ್ದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಸಂಭ್ರಮಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಜೇನ್ ಸಿಕ್ವೇರಾ – ಭಾರತದ ಜೈಲು ಸಚಿವಾಲಯದಿಂದ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಮಟ್ಟದ ಮೆಚ್ಚುಗೆಯನ್ನು ಪಡೆದಿದ್ದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಗುರುತಿಸಲಾಯಿತು..
ಜಾಯ್ಸನ್ ಸಿಕ್ವೇರಾ ಮತ್ತು ಜಾಯ್ಲಿನ್ ಸಿಕ್ವೇರಾ – ರಾಜ್ಯ ಮಟ್ಟದ ಅಂಚೆಚೀಟಿಗಳ ಸಂಗ್ರಹದ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನದಲ್ಲಿ ಪದಕಗಳನ್ನು ಗೆದ್ದಿದ್ದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಗೌರವಿಸಲಾಯಿತು..
ವರ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಸಿದ ಕ್ರೀಡೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಬಹುಮಾನ ವಿತರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ವಿವಿಧ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅತ್ಯುತ್ತಮ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನ ನೀಡಿದ ಲೋಟಸ್, ಫರ್ನ್ಸ್ ಮತ್ತು ಝೆನಿಯಾ ವಲಯಗಳಿಗೆ ಚಾಂಪಿಯನ್‌ಶಿಪ್ ಟ್ರೋಫಿಯನ್ನು ನೀಡಲಾಯಿತು.
ಧರ್ಮಕೇಂದ್ರದ ಪ್ರಧಾನ ಧರ್ಮಗುರುಗಳು ತಮ್ಮ ಭಾಷಣದಲ್ಲಿ, ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸ್ವಯಂಸೇವಕರು, ಪ್ರಾಯೋಜಕರು ಮತ್ತು ಧರ್ಮಕೇಂದ್ರದ ಸಮುದಾಯಕ್ಕೆ ಅವರ ಅಚಲ ಬೆಂಬಲ ಮತ್ತು ಸಮರ್ಪಣೆಗಾಗಿ ಹೃತ್ಪೂರ್ವಕ ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆಯನ್ನು ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದರು. ಅವರು ಧರ್ಮಕೇಂದ್ರದ ದಿನದ ವಿಷಯದ ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ಪುನರುಚ್ಚರಿಸಿದರು ಮತ್ತು ನಿರಂತರ ಏಕತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಹಕಾರವನ್ನು ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹಿಸಿದರು.
ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಎಎಲ್ ಸದಸ್ಯರು ಮತ್ತು ಹಿರಿಯರ ತಂಡದಿಂದ ಮನಮೋಹಕ ನೃತ್ಯ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಮನಮೋಹಕ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನಗಳು ಪ್ರೇಕ್ಷಕರನ್ನು ಪುಳಕಿತಗೊಳಿಸಿದವು. ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವು ಮತದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮುಕ್ತಾಯವಾಯಿತು.
Parish Day Celebration Report – St. Sebastian Church, Bendur
Bendur; St. Sebastian Church celebrated its Parish Day on January 19th, with the Feast of St. Sebastian. The celebration began at 4:45 PM with the distribution of candles to PPC members, sponsors, and benefactors, symbolizing their contributions and support to the parish community.
The Feast Mass commenced at 5:30 PM, presided over by the main celebrant, Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis Vicar of Derebail Parish, alongside the Vicar, Rev. Fr. Walter D’Souza. They were joined by Assistant Priests Rev. Fr. Lawrence Cutinha, Rev. Fr. Vivek Pinto, Rev. Fr. Denzil Lobo, Rev. Fr. Arun Lobo (Principal of Padua College), and priests from neighbouring parishes. Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis delivered a heartfelt sermon centered on the Parish Day theme, “Let us build a parish community of hope.”
As part of the Jubilee Year celebrations, nine crosses were blessed to be circulated among the homes in the parish, symbolizing unity and faith within the community.
The stage program began at 7:00 PM with a devotional prayer dance performed by the children, setting a reverent tone for the evening. Vice President Mr. Vinod D’Souza extended a warm welcome to the guests and parishioners. This was followed by the PPC Secretary, Mrs. Patsy Britto, presenting the annual report, detailing the parish’s activities and achievements over the past year.
A special highlight was the Parish Day group song, written and composed by the Vicar, Rev. Fr. Walter D’Souza, which was sung by the parishioners. The celebration also included a felicitation ceremony to honour achievers from the parish:
Mr. William Antony D’Souza, Mrs. Munita Veigas Rao, and St. Agnes Teachers Training Institute – Honoured for receiving the Rajyotsava Award.
Ethan Paul Mascarenhas – Recognized for holding a national record in swimming and being selected to represent India at the SAARC Games.
Dr. Denis Rodrigues and Dr. Reema Jenifer D’Silva – Commended for earning their Ph.Ds.
Master Akin Crasta – Celebrated for securing 3rd place at the National Level Karate Championship.
Mrs. Jane Sequeira – Acknowledged for receiving national-level appreciation from the Prison Ministry of India.
Joyson Sequeira and Joyline Sequeira – Honoured for winning medals at the State Level Philatelic Exhibition.
Prizes for the sports and cultural competitions conducted during the year were also distributed. The championship trophy was awarded to Lotus, Ferns, and Zenia Zones for their outstanding performances in various activities.
In his address, the Vicar expressed heartfelt gratitude to all volunteers, sponsors, and parishioners for their unwavering support and dedication to the parish community. He reiterated the importance of the Parish Day theme and encouraged continued unity and cooperation.
The cultural program featured captivating performances, including a mesmerizing dance by CAL members and an elders’ team, which left the audience enthralled. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Deepak D’Souza, Convenor of 21 Commissions, acknowledging the efforts of everyone involved.
Rev. Fr. Arun Lobo blessed the meals, and the parishioners came together to enjoy the dinner prepared at the church. The event was seamlessly hosted by Ms. Melani Lisha Dsouza, who served as the Master of Ceremonies. The celebration was a testament to the spirit of togetherness and faith that defines the St. Sebastian Church community.
