ಕುಂದಾಪುರ, ಸೆ.21: ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಿಂದ ತಾಯಿ ಮಗಳ ಜೋಡಿ ಮೂಲತಹ ಕುಂದಾಪುರವರಾದ ೫೫ ವರ್ಷ ಪ್ರಾಯದ ವಿಲ್ಮಾ ಕರ್ವಾಲೋ ಬೈಕ್ ಮೂಲಕ ವಿಶ್ವದ ಅತಿ ಎತ್ತರದ ಮೋಟಾರಬಲ್ ಪಾಸ್ ತಲುಪಿ ವಿಸೇಷವಾದ ಸಾಧನೆ ಮಾಡಿ ಹೆಗ್ಗಳಿಕೆಗೆ ಪಾತ್ರರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಲೆಸಿರುವ ಕಾರ್ಪೊರೇಟ್ ತರಬೇತುದಾರರಾದ 2022 ಆಕೆಯ ಪ್ರಯಾಣದ ನಂತರ ಎರಡನೇ ಅತಿ ಎತ್ತರದ ಮೋಟಾರು ರಸ್ತೆ – ಖರ್ದುಂಗ್ಲಾ ಪಾಸ್ ಆಗಿದ್ದು, ಕಳೆದ ವರ್ಷದ ಸಾಧನೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದ ನಂತರ ಅವಳು ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ದೃಢ ನಿಶ್ಚಯದಿಂದ ತಲುಪಬಹುದು ಎಂದು ಅರಿತುಕೊಂಡಳು.

ಉಮ್ಲಿಂಗ್ ಲಾ ಪಾಸ್ ಲೇಹ್ ನಗರದಿಂದ ಸುಮಾರು 350 ಕಿಮೀ ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಇದು ಇಂಡೋ ಚೀನಾ ಗಡಿಯ ಸಮೀಪದಲ್ಲಿದೆ.ಈ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧ ಪಾಸ್ ಸಮುದ್ರ ಮಟ್ಟದಿಂದ 19024 ಅಡಿ ಎತ್ತರದಲ್ಲಿದೆ, ಇದು ಅತ್ಯುನ್ನತ ಮೋಟಾರು ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯದ ಪಾಸ್ ಆಗಿದೆ ಜಗತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ. ಇದನ್ನು ಬಾರ್ಡರ್ ರೋಡ್ ಆರ್ಗನೈಸೇಶನ್ (BRO) ಯೋಜನೆಯ HIMANK ನ ಭಾಗವಾಗಿ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. 2017 ರ ವೇಳೆಗೆ ಕಾಮಗಾರಿ ಪೂರ್ಣಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದರೂ, 2021 ರ ಅಂತ್ಯದ ವೇಳೆಗೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರಿಗೆ ತೆರೆಯಲಾಯಿತು. ಲಡಾಖ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಭೂಪ್ರದೇಶವು ಸವಾರರಿಗೆ ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ಕಠಿಣವಾಗಿದೆ, ಆದರೆ ಹಳ್ಳಿಯಿಂದ ಹಾನ್ಲೆಗೆ ಪ್ರಯಾಣಉಮ್ಲಿಂಗ್ ಲಾ ಆಫ್ ರೋಡಿಂಗ್ ವಿಭಾಗಗಳು, ಮರಳು ದಿಬ್ಬಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಮರಳಿನ ಪರ್ವತ ರಸ್ತೆಗಳಿಂದ ನಿರೂಪಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿದೆ, ಇದು ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸವಾರರಿಗೆ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಸವಾಲಿನದಾಗಿದೆ.

ವಿಲ್ಮಾ ತನ್ನ ಮಗಳು ಚೆರಿಶ್ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಕೇರಳದ 3 ಸವಾರರ ತಂಡ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಯಾಣವನ್ನು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿದರು ಲೇಹ್‌ನ ಬೆಂಬಲ ತಂಡ. ಎಲ್ಲಾ 5 ಸವಾರರು ಭೂಪ್ರದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಆದ್ಯತೆಯ ಬೈಕು RE ಹಿಮಾಲಯನ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಸವಾರಿ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ಈ ಪಾಸ್ ಲೇಹ್ ನಗರದಿಂದ ದೂರ ಇರುವುದರಿಂದ, ರಸ್ತೆಗಳು ಇನ್ನೂ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಹಂತದಲ್ಲಿದೆ, ಇದರಿಂದಾಗಿ ಕಡಿಮೆಯಾಗಿದೆ ಸವಾರರು ಈ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಚರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಒಟ್ಟಾರೆಯಾಗಿ, ಲೇಹ್ ಟು ಲೇಹ್ ಪ್ರವಾಸವು 5 ದಿನಗಳ ಕಾಲ ನಡೆಯಿತು ಮತ್ತು ಒಟ್ಟು ಅಂದಾಜು 900 ಕಿ.ಮೀ. ವಿಲ್ಮಾ, ಪ್ರವಾಸದ ಉದ್ದಕ್ಕೂ ತನ್ನ ಮಗಳನ್ನು ಬೆಂಬಲಿಸಲು ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹಿಸಿದ್ದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಮಗಳನ್ನು ಧನ್ಯವಾದಗಳನ್ನು ನೀಡುತ್ತಾಳೆ, ಇಲ್ಲದಿದ್ದರೆ 55 ವರ್ಷದ ಮಹಿಳೆಗೆ ಅಸಾಧ್ಯವಾದ ಸಾಧನೆಯಾಗಿರುತಿತ್ತು ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸುತ್ತಾಳೆ.
“ನಾವು ಅನೇಕ ಸವಾಲುಗಳನ್ನು ಎದುರಿಸಿದ್ದೇವೆ” ಎಂದು ವಿಲ್ಮಾ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ, “ಮೂಳೆ ಕಚ್ಚುವ ಚಳಿ, ಕಡಿಮೆ ಆಮ್ಲಜನಕದ ಮಟ್ಟಗಳು, ಜಾರು ರಸ್ತೆಗಳು ಉತ್ತಮ ಜಲ್ಲಿಕಲ್ಲು, ಆಫ್ ರೋಡಿಂಗ್ ವಿಭಾಗಗಳು, ಶೀತಲಮಯ ನೀರಿನ ದಾಟುವಿಕೆಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಮರಳು ದಿಬ್ಬಗಳು ಸವಾಲಾಗಿದ್ದವು. ಆದರೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಧ್ರಡತೆ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸವಾಲುಗಳನ್ನು, ಮೆಟ್ಟಿ, ಪ್ರಪಂಚದ ಅಗ್ರಸ್ಥಾನವನ್ನು ತಲುಪಿ ಜಯ ಸಾಧಿಸಿದೇವು ಇದೊಂದ ವಿಶೇಷವಾದ ಸಾಧನೆಯಾಗಿದೆ. ನಾವು 11ನೇ ಸೆಪ್ಟೆಂಬರ್ 2023 ರಂದು ಉಮ್ಲಿಂಗ್ಲಾ ಪಾಸ್‌ನ ಮೇಲ್ಭಾಗವನ್ನು ತಲುಪಿದ್ದಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ತಮ್ಮ ಬರಹದ ಮೂಲಕವೇ ವಿಲ್ಮಾ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾಳೆ

ವಿಲ್ಮಾ ಕುಂದಾಪುರದ ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಮುತ್ಸದಿ, ಕುಂದಾಪುರದ ಪುರಸಭೆಯ ಮಾಜಿ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ದಿ. ಎಡ್ವಿನ್ ಕ್ರಾಸ್ಟೊ ಮತ್ತು , ಕುಂದಾಪುರದ ಪುರಸಭೆಯ ಮಾಜಿ ಉಪಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷೆ ಲಿಯೋನಿಲ್ಲಾ ಕ್ರಾಸ್ಟೊ ಇವರ ಮಗಳು, ಇವಳಿಗೆ ಮೊದಲಿನಿಂದಲೂ ಆಟ ಕ್ರೀಡೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಆಸಕ್ತಿಯಿದ್ದು, ಲೆಸ್ಲಿ ಕರ್ವಾಲ್ಲೊರ ಜೊತೆ ವಿವಾಹವಾಗಿ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಲಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.

Vilma Carvalho, a Corporate Trainer from Kundapura, currently living in Bangalore, made the news in 2022 after her journey to second highest motorable road – Khardungla Pass. After accomplishing last year’s feat she realized that with a little more determination she can reach.
Umling La, the world’s highest motorable Pass.
Umling La Pass is located around 350 Km from Leh city and it is situated close to Indo China border. This famous Pass is located at 19024 feet above the sea level, making it the highest motor able pass in the world. It was constructed as part of Project HIMANK by the Border Road Organization (BRO). Though, the work was completed by 2017, it opened for public only towards the end of 2021. The terrain in Ladakh is quite tough for riders as it is, however the journey from the village Hanle to Umling La is characterized with off roading sections, sand dunes and sandy mountain roads making it extremely challenging for all riders.

where we find Indian Astronomical Observatory] Vilma embarked on the journey along with her daughter Cherish, a team of 3 riders from Kerala and the support team from Leh. All 5 riders rode RE Himalayans, a preferred bike for the terrain. As this pass is situated away from Leh city, the roads are still under development leading to fewer riders venturing this route. Altogether, the Leh to Leh tour lasted for 5 days and was total of approximate of 900 Kms. Vilma, gives credit to her daughter for supporting and encouraging her throughout the tour, an otherwise impossible feat for a woman of 55. “We faced many challenges” says Vilma, “like bone biting cold, low oxygen levels, slippery roads due to fine gravel, off roading sections, chilled water crossings and sand dunes. But the feeling of overcoming all the challenges and reaching what felt like the top of the world is an accomplishment that is satisfying and unexplainable” We reached on top of the Umlingla Pass on 11th Septemter 2023

Vilma is a political leader of Kundapur, the former president of Kundapur municipality. Daughter of Edwin Crasto and Leonilla Crasto, former vice president of Kundapur Municipality, she had an early interest in sports and settled in Bangalore after marrying Leslie Carvalho.
