Udupi, August 18, 2024 – The Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Karnataka Region successfully organised the DELTA (Diocesan Executive Leader Training Advancement) programat Anugraha Pastoral Centre. The two-day event, held on August 17 and 18, was hosted by ICYM Udupi Diocese and brought together Diocesan Executive Committee (DEXCO) members from five dioceses: Udupi, Mangalore, Puttur, Belthangady, and Karwar.

The program began with a vibrant inaugural ceremony featuring His Holiness Most Rev. Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi Diocese, alongside Rev. Fr. Lourd Raj, Regional Youth Director (RYD) of ICYM Karnataka Region, and Sister Molly, Regional Youth Lady Animator (RYLA) of ICYM Karnataka Region. Other notable dignitaries included Rev. Fr. Steven Fernandes, Diocesan Youth Director (DYD) of ICYM Udupi Diocese, Mr. Sanjay Dsouza, President of ICYM Karnataka, and Ms. Ashley Dsouza, General Secretary of ICYM Karnataka.

In his address, Bishop Gerald Lobo urged the youth to become more actively involved in politics and entrepreneurship, highlighting the importance of dynamic leadership in these sectors. The inaugural ceremony concluded with the ICYM national anthem, setting a tone of unity and purpose for the event.

Additional dignitaries present included Rev. Fr. Joby Pullattu, DYD of SMYM Belthangady, Mr. Anson Nazareth, President of YCS/YSM India, Mr. Akwil Fernandes, National Executive Committee (NT-EXCO) member of ICYM India, Miss Jessica Santhmayor, Secretary of Karnataka Regional Youth Commission (KRYC), and Miss Jesvita Dsouza, President of YCS/YSM Karnataka.

The first session of the program was conducted by Rev. Fr. Sudeep Paul, Regional Secretary of Social Communication and Director of Sandesha Foundation. His insightful talk on “Role & Impact of Media on Youth” emphasized the significant effects of media on society and encouraged responsible usage by the young leaders.

Participants engaged in a range of group activities designed to develop essential leadership skills, including teamwork, planning, and execution. These activities were complemented by a thought-provoking debate on contemporary issues such as AI vs. NI, the decline in spirituality, and inter-caste marriages. The debates showcased the participants’ thorough preparation and active engagement.

The event was further energized by lively animations conducted by each diocesan team, leading into a Mass and adoration led by Fr. Lourd Raj. The cultural night on the first day featured various talents from the dioceses, culminating in a spirited Baila dance that celebrated youth diversity and unity.

Day two commenced with Sunday Mass and an engaging session on “The Power of Leadership” by V. Rev. Fr. Charles Menezes, former IYCS chaplain and Parish Priest of Udupi Church. His session, filled with humor and interactive elements, left a strong impression on the participants.

A poignant visit to the Ozanam Old Age Home in Santhekatte was a highlight of the day. The youth celebrated Grandparents’ Day with the elderly residents through songs, dance, and meaningful interactions, fostering connections and learning valuable life lessons.

The program concluded with a reflection and feedback session, followed by a valedictory ceremony attended by key dignitaries including Fr. Lourd Raj, Fr. Steven Fernandes, Sr. Molly, Sr. Deepa Thomas, DYLA of SMYM Belthangady, Mr. Akwil Fernandes, Mr. Sanjay Dsouza, Ms. Ashley Dsouza, and Mr. Godwin Mascarenhas, President of ICYM Udupi Diocese.

BARKUR, August 22, 2024 – The historic St. Peter’s Church in Barkur witnessed an outpouring of love and reverence as the community gathered to pay tribute to one of its most cherished spiritual leaders, the late Very Rev. Fr. Valerian Mendonca. The event, marked by a solemn Mass and a commemorative ceremony, celebrated the life and legacy of a man who touched countless lives during his tenure as Vicar from 2012 to 2017.

A Mass of Remembrance

The day’s proceedings began with a Holy Mass at 11:30 AM in the artistically rich and historically significant St. Peter’s Church. Rev. Fr. Cyprian Henry D’Souza, SFX Pilar, a native priest of Barkur, served as the main celebrant. In his meticulously crafted sermon, Fr. D’Souza painted a vivid picture of Fr. Mendonca’s divine qualities and his unwavering commitment to living the Gospel in both spirit and virtue.

The Mass was concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Sunil D’Silva, Parish Priest of St. Anthony Church, Sastan. Adding to the spiritual ambiance was the church choir, led by Mrs. Irene Pais, which delivered a soul-stirring performance featuring hymns composed by Fr. Mendonca himself.

A Community Gathers in Tribute

Following the church service, approximately 200 faithful assembled in the adjacent Sauharda Hall at 12:15 PM for a commemorative program. Mrs. Reshma, serving as the emcee, set the tone for the event with a poignant introduction, highlighting Fr. Mendonca’s multifaceted personality and his ability to connect with people from all walks of life during his five-year tenure as Vicar of Barkur.

Fr. Cyprian Henry, in his emotionally charged welcome address, expressed joy at the spontaneous turnout of parishioners, a testament to how deeply Fr. Mendonca was loved and integrated into the community fabric.

Family’s Gratitude

Sr. Rose Agnes, AC, Fr. Mendonca’s younger sister, offered a heartfelt speech that moved many to tears. “This tribute is possibly the first of its kind in the Diocese,” she remarked, expressing the family’s deep gratitude for the exceptional arrangements, which included a requiem Mass, a ‘Nudinamana’ (word of honor), and the release of a comprehensive book about Fr. Mendonca’s life. Sr. Rose Agnes also shared touching anecdotes from Fr. Mendonca’s childhood, emphasizing his early calling to serve God and humanity.

Remembrances and Tributes

The event featured several speakers who shared personal experiences and tributes:

Mr. Alwyn Andrade, a prominent social and cultural figure in the locality, recounted nostalgic experiences with Fr. Mendonca, crediting him for shaping his career as a photographer and videographer.

Mrs. Eugene Quadrus, former Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council, praised Fr. Mendonca’s involvement in church activities and his pivotal role in celebrating the 150th Post Centenary Golden Jubilee of the Parish in 2013.

Rev. Fr. Sunil D’Silva, the chief guest, offered a comprehensive overview of Fr. Mendonca’s journey, from his days as an English teacher and principal to his recent role as Dean of Kallianpur varado. Fr. D’Silva described Fr. Mendonca as “a devout life, of nobility, knowledge, and concern for the needs of priests… one in a million.”

Book Launch: A Lasting Tribute

A highlight of the event was the release of a commemorative book about Fr. Mendonca’s life. Prof. P. Archibald Furtado, the editor-in-charge, provided an overview of the 136-page volume, which features contributions from over 40 renowned writers, primarily from Barkur, in Konkani, Kannada, and English. Notably, the book includes four precious write-ups from Fr. Mendonca’s Hindu friends and admirers, underscoring his broad impact across communities.

The book’s artistic cover, designed by Kishoo Barkur, received special mention for its meaningful representation of Fr. Mendonca’s life and work.

Gratitude and Conclusion

Prof. Jude Alfred Furtado delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging everyone who contributed to this unique event. Special recognition was given to Mr. Walter D’Almeida, a native of Barkur now settled in the UAE, for his generous sponsorship of the book project.

The program concluded with a musical tribute by Mrs. Irene Pais and the choir team, followed by the distribution of the commemorative book to attending families and a communal lunch.

As the community dispersed, there was a palpable sense that Fr. Valerian Mendonca’s legacy would continue to inspire and guide the people of Barkur for generations to come. This event not only honored a beloved spiritual leader but also reinforced the strong bonds of community and faith that he had worked so tirelessly to nurture during his lifetime.

ಕುಂದಾಪುರದ ಸಿ.ಎಸ್.ಐ. ಕೃಪಾ ವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯ ಮತ್ತು ಯು.ಬಿ.ಎಮ್.ಸಿ. ಆಂಗ್ಲ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮ ಶಾಲೆಗಳ ಸಂಸತ್ತು ಪದಗ್ರಹಣ ಸಮಾರಂಭವು ಅ. 20 ರಂದು ಶಾಲಾ ಸಭಾಂಗಣದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯಿತು. ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಸಂಚಾಲಕರಾದ ಐರಿನ್ ಸಾಲಿನ್ಸ್, ಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲೆ ಅನಿತಾ ಆಲಿಸ್ ಡಿಸೋಜಾ ಮತ್ತು ನರ್ಸರಿ ವಿಭಾಗದ ಮುಖ್ಯೋಪಾಧ್ಯಾಯಿನಿ ಸವಿತಾ, ಎಸ್‌ಪಿಎಲ್ ವಿಸ್ಮಿತ್ ಮತ್ತು ಎಎಸ್‌ಪಿಎಲ್ ಸೋಹನ್ ದೀಪ ಬೆಳಗಿಸುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಉದ್ಘಾಟಿಸಿದರು. ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳ ಆಮಂತ್ರಣದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಾಮವನ್ನು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳ ಸ್ವಾಗತದ ಮೂಲಕ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಸಂಚಾಲಕರು, ಪ್ರಿನ್ಸಿಪಾಲ್ ಮತ್ತು ಮುಖ್ಯೋಪಾಧ್ಯಾಯಿನಿ ಅವರು, ಶಾಲಾ ಸಂಸತ್ತಿನ ನಾಯಕರು ಮತ್ತು 4 ಶಾಲ ಸದನದ ನಾಯಕರನ್ನು ಅವರವರ ಬ್ಯಾಡ್ಜ್‌ಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಗೌರವಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲರು ಪಠಿಸಿದ ಪ್ರತಿಜ್ಞಾವಿಧಿಯನ್ನು ಶಾಲಾ ಸಂಸತ್ತಿನ ಮುಖಂಡರು ಹಾಗೂ ಸಭಾನಾಯಕರು ಉಚ್ಚರಿಸಿದರು.. ಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲರು ತಮ್ಮ ಭಾಷಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ವಿವರಿಸಿದರು ಮತ್ತು ನಿಯಮಗಳಿಗೆ ಬದ್ಧರಾಗಿ ಶಾಲೆಯ ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠೆ ಮತ್ತು ಗೌರವವನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು. ಶಾಲಾ ಸಂಚಾಲಕರು ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಸಂತೋಷವನ್ನು ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದರು ಮತ್ತು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಭಾರತದ ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿಯುತ ನಾಗರಿಕರಾಗುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಶುಭ ಹಾರೈಸಿದರು. ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಶಾಲೆಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಗೌರವ ಮತ್ತು ಹೆಮ್ಮೆ ತುಂಬಿತು . ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ,ಸಹಾಯಕ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕಿ ಪವಿತ್ರಾ ನಿರೂಪಿಸಿದರು.

CSI Krupa Vidyalaya & UBMC English Medium School : Kundapura : 20.08 2024 : The Investiture Ceremony of CSI Krupa Vidyalaya and UBMC English Medium School, Kundapura was held on 20.08.24 at 11:30 am in the school auditorium. The event was inaugurated through the Lighting of Lamp by Correspondent Mrs. Irene Salins, Principal Mrs. Anita Alice Dsouza and Nursery Section Headmistress Mrs.Savitha, SPL Vismith and ASPL Sohan. The event was initiated with the Invocation by students. The event was initiated through an Invocation by students. The Correspondent, Principal and Headmistress honoured the Parliament Leaders and the 4 house leaders with their respective badges. The School Parliament leaders and House leaders swore the Oath which was recited by the Principal. In her address, the Principal explained the significance of the event and urged them to adhere to the rules and keep up the prestige and honour of the school. The Correspondent expressed her happiness on the event and wished to see students becoming responsible citizens of India. Students were filled with honour and pride for the school. The event was anchored by Mrs. Pavithra Asst. Teacher.

ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ರೈತರ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಸ್ಪಂದಿಸಬೇಕಾದ ಉಸ್ತುವಾರಿ ಸಚಿವರು ನಾಪತ್ತೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಇನ್ನು ಜನಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದರೆ ಉತ್ತರವಿಲ್ಲ. ಒಟ್ಟಾರೆಯಾಗಿ ರೈತರ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳನ್ನು ಗಂಭೀರವಾಗಿ ಪರಿಗಣಿಸದೆ ನಿರ್ಲಕ್ಷೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವ ಜನಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಗಳ ಹಾಗೂ ನಕಲಿ ಭಿತ್ತನೆ ಟೊಮಾಟೋ ಬೀಜ ವಿತರಣೆ ಮಾಡಿರುವ ಕಂಪನಿಗಳ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಕ್ರಿಮಿನಲ್ ಮೊಕದೊಮ್ಮೆ ದಾಖಲು ಮಾಡಿ ರೈತರಿಗೆ ಸ್ಪಂದಿಸದ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಕ್ರಮ ಕೈಗೊಂಡು ನಷ್ಟವಾಗಿರುವ ರೈತರ ಪ್ರತಿ ಎಕರೆ ಟೊಮೊಟೋಗೆ ಮೂರು ಲಕ್ಷ ಪರಿಹಾರಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಸರ್ಕಾರವನ್ನು ಒತ್ತಾಯಿಸಿ ಆ-27 ರ ಮಂಗಳವಾರ ಜಾನುವಾರುಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ನಷ್ಟ ಬೆಳೆ ಸಮೇತ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಹೆದ್ದಾರಿ ಕೋಲಾರ, ಶ್ರೀನಿವಾಸಪುರ ಮುಖ್ಯ ರಸ್ತೆ, ರೋಜಾರನಹಳ್ಳಿ ಗೇಟ್ ಬಂದ್ ಮಾಡುವ ಮುಖಾಂತರ ನ್ಯಾಯ ಪಡೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ತೀರ್ಮಾನವನ್ನು ನಷ್ಟ ಬೆಳೆ ತೋಟದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳಲಾಯಿತೆಂದರು.

ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಬಾವುಟವನ್ನು ಹಾರಿಸಿ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಆಕಾಡೆಮಿಯ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರು ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಕ್ಕೆ ಚಾಲನೆ ನೀಡಿದರು. ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ, ಮಾತಾನಾಡಿದ ಅವರು. “ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಭಾಷೆಯನ್ನು ಮನೆಯಲಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಬೇಕು ಮತ್ತು ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಯ ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ತಿಳಿದು ಮುಂದಿನ ಪೀಳಿಗೆಗೆ ಹಸ್ತಾತಂತರಿಸಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು ಹಾಗೂ ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಮಾನ್ಯತಾ ದಿನದ ಶುಭಾಶಯಗಳನ್ನು ಕೋರಿದರು.

ಭಾರತದಲ್ಲಿ ನಾವು ನೂರಾರು ಭಾµಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತೇವೆ, ಆದರೆ ಕೆಲವೇ ಭಾµಗಳನ್ನು ಅಧಿಕೃತ ಭಾµಯಾಗಿ ಗುರುತಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ೧೮ ನೇ ಸ್ಥಾನವನ್ನು ಪಡೆದುಕೊಂಡಿದೆ. ಇದರ ಪ್ರಯುಕ್ತ ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಭಾಷೆಯ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಹಾಗೂ ಚಲನಚಿತ್ರದ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನವನ್ನು ಆಯೋಜಿಸಲಾಗಿತ್ತು.

ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಕ್ಕೆ ಚಿತ್ರನಟಿ ವೆಲ್ಸಿಟಾ ಡಯಾಸ್, ಶ್ರೀ ಜೋಸೆಫ್ ಮತಾಯಸ್, ಪಾ. ಮೆಲ್ವಿನ್ ಡಿಕುನ್ಹಾ, ಪಾ. ಐವನ್ ಡಿಸೋಜಾರವರು ವೇದಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ  ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದರು. ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ ಭಕ್ತಾದಿಗಳು ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಚಲನಚಿತ್ರದ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನವನ್ನು ವಿಕ್ಷೀಸಿ ಮೆಚ್ಚುಗೆಯನ್ನು ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದರು.

Konkani Manyatha Divas celebrated with Konani Film Exhibition at Infant Jesus Shrine, Carmel Hill

Konkani Manyatha Divas is the inclusion of Konkani as an official language in the Eighth schedule of Indian Constitution in 1992. Naman Ballok Jesu organized an Exhibition of Konkani films on August 22^nd 2024, on the occasion of Konkani Manyatha Divas.

Konkani Film exhibition was declared open at Infant Jesus campus on Thursday, the 22nd August 2024, at 8.30am with the hoisting of the Konkani flag by Mr. Stany Alvares, President Konkani Sahithya Academy.

Wencita Dias, (Film Actor), Mr. Joseph Mathias, (Enterpreneur), Fr. Melvin D’cunha (Superior, St. Joseph’s Monastery), and Fr. Ivan Dsouza (NBJ Editor) were on the dais. A Konkani song was sung by the theology brothers.

Thereafter, those present proceeded to the Shrine Hall in a procession. Wencita Dias inaugurated the film exhibition by cutting the ribbon. Mr. Stany Alvares in his speech invited all to speak Konkani at home and thus keep alive our Konkani culture. A short video presentation was on the screen with regard to  Konkani films.

A Quiz was held based on Konkani Culture. The exhibition had a yearwise  display of all the Konkani films. Infant Jesus devotees expressed their views and appreciation on the display of all the Konkani films and Konkani books.

It was organised so well and was worth the efforts of Fr. Ivan D’Souza and team, as people came in large numbers throughout the day and benefitted of it. Roshan Crasta compered the programme.

ಶ್ರೀಯುತ ಐವನ್‌ ಡಿಸೋಜಾ ರವರು ಕ್ರೈಸ್ತ ಸಮುದಾಯದ ಹಾಗೂ ಅಲ್ಪಸಂಖ್ಯಾತ ಸಮುದಾಯದ ಪ್ರಬಲ ನಾಯಕರಾಗಿ
ಗುರುತಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಸನ್ಮಾನ್ಯ ಐವನ್‌ ಡಿಸೋಜಾರವರು ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ, ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಂಘಟನಾತ್ಮಕರಾಗಿ
ಮುಂಚೂಣಿ ನ್ಹಾಯಕರಾಗಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಶ್ರೀಯುತ ಐವನ್‌ ಡಿಸೋಜಾರವರು ಕೋಮುವಾದಿ ಶಕ್ತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರಬಲವಾಗಿ ಎದುರಿಸಿ
ಮತ್ತು ವಿರೋಧಿಸಿ. ಬಂದಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಅವರ ಮನೆ ಮೇಲಿನ ಈ ಘಟನೆಯು ಖಂಡನಾರ್ಹ ಅಪರಾಧವಾಗಿದ್ದು ಇದನ್ನು ನಾವು
ಖಂಡಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ. ಅಪರಾಧ ಕೃತ್ಯವೆಸಗಿದ ದುಷ್ಕರ್ಮಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕೂಡಲೇ ಬಂಧಿಸಿ ಅವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಕಾನೂನು ಕ್ರಮ
ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕಾಗಿ “ಉಳ್ಳಾಲ ಬ್ಲಾಕ್‌ ಅಲ್ಪಸಂಖ್ಯಾತ ಘಟಕದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ಆಲ್ವಿನ್‌ ಡಿಸೋಜ, ಪಾನೀರ್‌ ಈ ಮೂಲಕ
ಆಗ್ರಹಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.

ಶ್ರೀನಿವಾಸಪುರ :  ತಾಲೂಕಿನ ಯೋಜನಾ ಕಚೇರಿಯ ವ್ಯಾಪ್ತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ 2023 – 24 ನೇ ಸಾಲಿನ 669 ನೇ ನಮ್ಮೂರು ನಮ್ಮ ಕೆರೆ ಅಡ್ಡಗಲ್ ಗ್ರಾಮ ಪಂಚಾಯಿತಿ ವ್ಯಾಪ್ತಿಯ ಮಲ್ಲಿಮೋರಪಲ್ಲಿಯ ಲಕ್ಕಮ್ಮನಕೆರೆ ನಾಮಫಲಕ ಅನಾವರಣ ಹಾಗೂ ಕೆರೆ ಹಸ್ತಾಂತರ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಹಮ್ಮಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದು ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಊರಿನ ಗಣ್ಯರಾದ ಶಂಕರ್ ರೆಡ್ಡಿ ಅವರು ಉದ್ಘಾಟಿಸಿದರು..

ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಕುರಿತು ಶ್ರೀ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರ ಧರ್ಮಸ್ಥಳ ಗ್ರಾಮಾಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಯೋಜನೆ, ಬಿ ಸಿ ಟ್ರಸ್ಟ್ ಶ್ರೀನಿವಾಸಪುರ ತಾಲೂಕಿನ ಯೋಜನಾಧಿಕಾರಿಯವರಾದ ಪ್ರಕಾಶ್ ಕುಮಾರ್ ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತಾ ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ 67% ಕೆರೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅರ್ಧದಷ್ಟು ನೀರಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಇರುವುದು ವಿಪರ್ಯಾಸವಾಗಿದೆ. ರಾಜ್ಯದೆಲ್ಲೆಡೆ ಮುಂಗಾರು ಅಬ್ಬರಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದು ಕರಾವಳಿ, ಮಲೆನಾಡು, ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಒಳನಾಡು ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಬಹುತೇಕ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾರಿ ಮಳೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದು ಕೆರೆಗಳು ತುಂಬಿ ಕೃಷಿ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಗಳಿಗೆ ನೀರು ಬಳಕೆಯಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ, ಆದರೆ ಇನ್ನು ಕೆಲವು ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮಳೆ ಪ್ರಮಾಣ ಕಡಿಮೆಯಾಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ಹಾಗೂ ಕೆರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೂಳು ತುಂಬಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ಕೆರೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನೀರಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಕೃಷಿ ಮಾಡುವುದು ಬಹಳ ಕಷ್ಟವಾಗಿದೆ, ಇದನ್ನೆಲ್ಲ ಅರಿತ ಪೂಜ್ಯ ಡಾಕ್ಟರ್ ಡಿ ವೀರೇಂದ್ರ ಹೆಗ್ಗಡೆಯವರು 2016ರಲ್ಲಿ ನಮ್ಮೂರು ನಮ್ಮ ಕೆರೆ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ತಂದು ಇದುವರೆಗೂ 6105.51 ಕೋಟಿ ಅನುದಾನ ನೀಡಿ 787 ಕೆರೆಗಳನ್ನು ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಪಡಿಸಿರುವುದಾಗಿ ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.

ನಂತರ ಊರಿನ ಗಣ್ಯರಾದ ಶಂಕರ್ ರೆಡ್ಡಿ ಅವರು ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಧರ್ಮಸ್ಥಳ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ ಹಲವಾರು ಸಂಘ-ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಮಾದರಿಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ನಿಸ್ವಾರ್ಥ ಸೇವೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವ ಮನೋಭಾವ ಎಲ್ಲರಲ್ಲೂ ಇರಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲ ಆದರೆ ಧರ್ಮಸ್ಥಳ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ ಬಡವರ್ಗದವರ ಏಳಿಗೆಗಾಗಿ ಶ್ರಮಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವುದು ನಮ್ಮೆಲ್ಲರ ಭಾಗ್ಯ ಎಂದರು. 

ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಊರಿನ ಗಣ್ಯರಾದ ಮದ್ದಿ ರೆಡ್ಡಿ, ಅಶ್ವಥ್ ರೆಡ್ಡಿ, ಜಯಮ್ಮ, ಹಾಗೂ ವಲಯದ ಮೇಲ್ವಿಚಾರಕರಾದ ಉಮೇಶ್ ಕೃಷಿ ಮೇಲ್ವಿಚಾರಕರಾದ ರಮೇಶ್ ಸೇವಾ ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿ ನಾಗರತ್ನಮ್ಮ ಹಾಗೂ ಪ್ರಗತಿ ಬಂದು ಸ್ವಸಹಾಯ ಸಂಘದ ಸದಸ್ಯರು  ಊರಿನ ಗ್ರಾಮಸ್ಥರು ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದರು.

ಮಂಗಳೂರು : ಕಥೊಲಿಕ್ ಸಭಾ ಮಂಗ್ಳೂರ್ ಪ್ರದೇಶ್(ರಿ) ಸಿಟಿ ವಲಯ ಹಾಗೂ ವಾಮಂಜೂರು ಘಟಕ ಸಂಯೋಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಗಸ್ಟ್ ತಿಂಗಳ 18 ತಾರೀಕಿನಂದು 2024 ಆದಿತ್ಯವಾರ ‘ಲಾವ್ದಾತೊ ಸಿ’ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ಗಿಡ ನೆಡುವ ಮುಲಕ ವಾಮಂಜೂರು ಇಗರ್ಜಿಯ ಮೈದಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯಿತು.
ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಸಿಟಿ ವಲಯದ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಧರ್ಮಗುರು ಹಾಗೂ ವಾಮಂಜೂರು ಚರ್ಚ್‌ನ ಧರ್ಮಗುರು ವಂ| ಫಾದರ್ ಜೇಮ್ಸ್ ಡಿಸೋಜ, ಸಿಟಿ ವಲಯದ ಆಧ್ಯಾತ್ಮಿಕ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕ ಹಾಗೂ ಆಂಜೆಲೋರ್‌ ಚರ್ಚ್‌ನ ಪ್ರಧಾನ ಧರ್ಮಗುರು ಫ್ರೆಡ್ರಿಕ್ ಮೊಂತೇರೊ, ಸಿಟಿ ವಲಯ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ಅರುಣ್ ಡಿಸೋಜ, ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿ ಡೋರಾ ಡಿಕುನ್ಹಾ , ನಿಕಟ್-ಪೂರ್ವ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ವಿಲ್ಫ್ರೆಡ್ ಆಲ್ವಾರಿಸ್, ವಾಮಂಜೂರ್ ಘಟಕದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ಸಂತೋಷ್ ಸಲ್ದಾನ, ಸಿಟಿ ವಲಯದ ಮಾಜಿ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರು, ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಘಟಕದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರು -ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿ, ಹಾಗೂ ಸರ್ವ ಸದಸ್ಯರು ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು.
